damn your fast dude!!awesome shredding thats a real cool guitar too,im lefty and its hard to find guitars like that in lefty form u remind me of kerry king from slayer
I've never picked up an in tune guitar at GC or Sam Ash ever...I thought it was just a left-handed thing where no one works there s a lefty therefore ignores the upkeep on the 3 guitars they normally have. lol
hi does anyone know if all regular pickups will fit in a lefty guitar? do they have be left handed pickups or can i jus order whatever pickup i like? with the right pickups slots in the guitar ofc. anyone??
All pickups fit both ways, and as long as they are just plain humbuckers or single coils, they will sound identical righty or lefty.
If you get into coil splitting then you will want the neck single coil to be closest to the neck so that might require rotating the pickup around to have that single coil closest. And if splitting the bridge, the live side splits closest to the bridge.
I feel your pain. Sucks going into guitarcenter and being limited to like 10 guitars. That's why I love schecter, most lefty friendly company out there
If you play lefty, guitars will be scarce, but you will play better than if your reversed. Something to do with the speed and accuracy of the picking hand I think. It's a feel---the dominant hand runs the show...left hand on a lefty wins that bet.
Wow that was really cool man!!! You are really good!!!! AWSOME!! A lot of the stuff you did were solos that I do. Really cool! Your insane man!! I have 2 Guitar Center videos as well if you want to check them out. Its my friend and I. I sucked in the video though. I was doing like just normal solos I do but when i get really going , its WAY better and I usually do stuff like you , I'm better now. I love Guitar Center man , such a good plae to hang out and Rock!! ROCK ON MAN!!
Thanks! I've been playing for 20 years, but off and on for the past 7 years. My life's been busy since moving to California and starting from scratch with my wife and knowing no one out here. It was a worthwhile move, but a major social and band setback for sure.
it seems like you did a bunch of exercises from a book. I know because i used to do that. Learn how to phrase AND shred.. it makes a world of difference.
hey dude im a lefty too isnt it hard to find lefties i hate it..i think lefties should be the same price at regular guitars i mean really...no wonder theres no lefties buying them cuz there so overpriced
I end up buying old RG470's on eBay for $200 and clean them up, or if I'm lucky a nice used RG1570 prestige.
A lot of times I am trolling there for lefty necks, bodies, and edge/lo-pro edge...by the way you can drill out the righty trems and move the bar socket to the opposite side for a lefty. and if you got a ton of patience, you can slip out the knife edges and swap them to the opposite side. The only downside is the extra hole on the righty side! (or you can buy the new garbage)
I have a lefty RG370DX, as far as playability and comfort, it's a really good guitar, the neck is fast and thin, very easy fret access..etc
The only thing I would advise is to replace the pickups with some Seymour D's since the electronics are passive, unless if you want to swap out the electronics to put in EMG's whatever you prefer.
Whatever you do, replace the stock Ibanez Pickups, they are tinny as hell lol
Haven't assembled a crew yet, but I hope to get something going in my area once I get some new material recorded.
My thought is to build a CD and then find the musicians to handle it. That way I'll have more time perfecting the songs and have a better idea of where to set the bar for the musicians.
Writing in a jamroom wastes too much time going over stuff, and a lot of times arrangements are too predictable.
If the right people came into the band my opinion could drastically change.
oh my god.. im person who cant play guitar ... it looks like youre about to break youre fingers! Dam nice sound and very nice Guitar skills. i wish i could lay like you =P come to Germany and teach me =O nice nice man
I know what you mean when you say you have trouble looking for guitars at Guitar Center. I play lefty too and my Guitar Center has two left handed guitars, one acoustic and one electric. The electrics knobs were busted so only acoustic playing for me over there. :(
Anyway your totally awesome and an inspiration to me as another lefty player! ROCK ON MAN!!!!
They point to the pieces of shit that are more used than new and when those aren't around they have some expensive Gibson or Fender I wouldn't blow $3,000 on cuz I'm a metal head. lol
I'm really happy ebay exists, or else I wouldn't have a left-handed guitar at all! A nice little Les Paul imitation. It was cheap and it's a great guitar for its price. It sounds just as good as a Gibson. :)
The RG1570 Prestige is curently the best double-locking trem that I've ever played (for staying in tune) besides my old RG 560 with the lo-pro edge. The Prestige + higher end guitars have better steel that can withstand the abuse of tight screws + violent whammy use. I am an abuser of both + tend to strip parts over time. Still the Edges have been my favorite tremolo + I'll stand by them over the original floyds. Whatever U do stay away from Floyd Copies as they are made cheap + have soft metal.
hey how well does this trem system stay in tune with heavy whammy use i wanna get one but i love using the whammy and i dont wanna guitar that is constantley needing retuning nice playing btw
I've never been happy with ANY floating tremolo guitar for tuning stability. Even with fully stretched strings & a locknut clamped down hard, I still see the return to pitch from a spaghetti string dive to a pull up in pitch vary from 4-6 cents on the tuner. That's good for jamming & gigging, but it bugs me for recording as I can slightly hear that variance. I try to pick a technique on the bar that works for the song and maintain all dive & releases, or all pull up & releases to return 2 pitch.
Better than most douche bags at guitar center.... Me and the guitarist in my band are usually the only decent guitar players when we go and we start getting people asking us for lessons its funny cause we dont know shit about music... we just play
I normlly try and hide in a corner to do my playing as I don't like to make a scene, but you will get noticed if you aren't playing the usual cover song riffs.
I wish I knew the head make. I can tell you it was a nice head that had multi-channels that when you switched them, all the knobs would move because they were motorized!
dude i gotta let you know because of your advice i have decided to pickup lefty guitar playing. I have bought my first lefty guitar and im already practicing it.
can you play the guitars over at guitar center, man i wanna go back again, but they said dont touch the guitars, can you really test the guitars there?
Why of course! everytime I'm in a GC it's a zoo of kids riffing away on sloppy thrash metal so i'm sure they can't stop U from picking up a guitar + plugging in. Normally you just bring your own pick + look for an amp that has a cord + grab a guitar and have at it! You'll get the harrassnent of sales folk, but you are trying out many guitars before deciding on buying one + not every guitar on your list to try is in that store so they can't pressure a sale...even if they're driven by Commission!
well i think when u play, dont listen to other people when they say ur doing it wrong and stuff like that. it has to be comfortable for yourself :). When youre sweep picking, just hit only once the 6th string en do the rest with hammer ons and pull offs because the sound wil be much cleaner and accurater. But when i play i always find out new things that work out pretty well for me and i cant help u with finding it out :P because i dont know what feels fine for you. Anyway thanks for ur help. :)
whats ur favorite style to play mine is sweep picking combined with some legato shredding licks (this doesnt mean ive nailed it :P) what pickups does fit right with this kind/style of pla
I love legato, 2-hand tapping, sliding (like VAI & SATCH), + straight up fast picking! (like GILBERT & PETRUCCI) I'm not so good at the "Yngwie" thing.
Any sweep tips 4 a guy that uses 10's + heavy 1.5 mill pick, with an agressive pick hand that requires high action?
I use EMG 81 bridge + 85 Neck mostly for recording + live.
I also live the new Blackouts for lead solos + neck pickup clean sounds, but double tracking heavy riffage doesn't sound as clear with the Semour's as with the EMGs.
Off and on for 20 years. Mostly hours a day as a teenager and then it tapered off when I moved out on my own at 21 and had to get working to pay rent and bills. lol
Hey nice playing im lefty too :) but i'm now playin a rg370 but i don't like the sound very much so should i buy a new guitar, was actually thinking of rg1570, or just put dimarzio pickups in the rg370?? i don't know what to do :S lol anyway i hope one day ill be as good as you :) ciao
Keep the RG370DX as it plays and feels identical to the RG1570. Just get better pickups as I've never had an Ibanez that the pickups didn't suck on. lol
I use the EMG 81 bridge and 85 neck (ZAKK WYLDE'S), as I prefer active over passvie (Metallica Crunch and no Noise and Hum)...besides the needed battery will last 3,000 hours!
But if you like passive then go with Dimarzios like you mentioned. The Evolution is good and the FRED. Vai and Satch respectively!
yeah but the problem is my parents got me a nice acoustic electric guitar for christmas last year but its a righty guitar and im supposed to be learning on it
dude im about to start my guitar career by learning but im lefty too and i need tov know, whats a better chice should i learn lefty or righty cause ive done guitar hero, lol, and ive come alot further on righty but my left hand is way better at strumming but its also alot better at hitting the frets, what should i do
I've had this conversation with many Lefties and we all agree that the Left-handed Picker will be a lot better of a player if they play lefty, but in the early stages, it makes little difference on the fret hand as both hands learn just like how you would if you played the piano...but trust me on this being a lefty will mean less guitar modle options and more money spent. I would never be able to go righty now, but I love my picking technique too much to gripe about it. :)
yeah see thats another problem because my parents got me a nice guitar for christmas last year but its righty and that is supposed to be my learner and if im going to go lefty i cant learn on that one
now, im a guitarist.. when you go to guitar center, can you just go up to a guitar and plug it in and play it? i see em playing when i walk in to look at a guitar occasionally but never got the courage to touch the guitar since im not the greatest xD
I normally hide out somewhere in the corner and play real quiet. It does take 5 minutes to get the fingers moving, but if the store is noisy I sometimes blast it, but I go to a music store maybe 2 times a year. I still think I suck. lol I think it's the self-consciousness we all have to a degree that doesn't go away. It just means our ears are working! lol
ok, I'd give both my feet to play guitar like that.
PS: If the devil is reading this. This is not an actualy wish, stay off my soul and my feet please. unless you give me steve vai talent, then take both.
i was born left handed and when i was little my mum tought me to write with my right hand, therefore becoming right handed, thank god for that cos i play guitar now and i have a bigger selection of guitars to play =P
the part at 1:35 is the coolest looking thing I have seen a lefty do.

I normlly try and hide in a corner to do my playing as I don't like to make a scene, but you will get noticed if you aren't playing the usual cover song riffs.
I also play by ear so my theory sucks ass!
sonicbondage 3 years ago
And also, what amp were you using?
FloroSapien 3 years ago
I wish I knew the head make. I can tell you it was a nice head that had multi-channels that when you switched them, all the knobs would move because they were motorized!
sonicbondage 3 years ago
Lol, all the left handed players I've seen are amazing...

best ever thats all i gotta say

Cool!
Play Long and Hard and make lots of music!
sonicbondage 3 years ago
can you play the guitars over at guitar center, man i wanna go back again, but they said dont touch the guitars, can you really test the guitars there?
thojyout23 3 years ago
Why of course! everytime I'm in a GC it's a zoo of kids riffing away on sloppy thrash metal so i'm sure they can't stop U from picking up a guitar + plugging in. Normally you just bring your own pick + look for an amp that has a cord + grab a guitar and have at it! You'll get the harrassnent of sales folk, but you are trying out many guitars before deciding on buying one + not every guitar on your list to try is in that store so they can't pressure a sale...even if they're driven by Commission!

Wow this one really kicks! Energy meets intensity. I'm blind from watching your fingers move so fast! Kami

well i think when u play, dont listen to other people when they say ur doing it wrong and stuff like that. it has to be comfortable for yourself :). :)
scarfr156 3 years ago
whats ur favorite style to play mine is sweep picking combined with some legato shredding licks (this doesnt mean ive nailed it :P) what pickups does fit right with this kind/style of pla
scarfr156 3 years ago
I love legato, 2-hand tapping, sliding (like VAI & SATCH), + straight up fast picking! (like GILBERT & PETRUCCI) I'm not so good at the "Yngwie" thing.
Any sweep tips 4 a guy that uses 10's + heavy 1.5 mill pick, with an agressive pick hand that requires high action?
I use EMG 81 bridge + 85 Neck mostly for recording + live.
I also live the new Blackouts for lead solos + neck pickup clean sounds, but double tracking heavy riffage doesn't sound as clear with the Semour's as with the EMGs.
sonicbondage 3 years ago
your good at finger tapping and i like your techniques
how long have u been playing?
ILoverguitars 3 years ago
Off and on for 20 years. Mostly hours a day as a teenager and then it tapered off when I moved out on my own at 21 and had to get working to pay rent and bills. lol

GuitarPlayerAdam 3 years ago
Hey nice playing im lefty too :) but i'm now playin a rg370 but i don't like the sound very much so should i buy a new guitar, was actually thinking of rg1570, or just put dimarzio pickups in the rg370?? i don't know what to do :S lol anyway i hope one day ill be as good as you :) ciao
scarfr156 3 years ago
Keep the RG370DX as it plays and feels identical to the RG1570. Just get better pickups as I've never had an Ibanez that the pickups didn't suck on. lol
I use the EMG 81 bridge and 85 neck (ZAKK WYLDE'S), as I prefer active over passvie (Metallica Crunch and no Noise and Hum)...besides the needed battery will last 3,000 hours!
But if you like passive then go with Dimarzios like you mentioned. The Evolution is good and the FRED. Vai and Satch respectively!
There's also Seymour Duncan!!!
sonicbondage 3 years ago
yeah but the problem is my parents got me a nice acoustic electric guitar for christmas last year but its a righty guitar and im supposed to be learning on it
gaarasclub 3 years ago
If it doesn't feel proper to play "Righty" then Trade it in Bro!
That's what I did.
Otherwise it's going to sit in a case in the closet for years doing nothing!
sonicbondage 3 years ago
alright, ill try thanks for the tips dude, p.s. good guitar playing
gaarasclub 3 years ago
dude im about to start my guitar career by learning but im lefty too and i need tov know, whats a better chice should i learn lefty or righty cause ive done guitar hero, lol, and ive come alot further on righty but my left hand is way better at strumming but its also alot better at hitting the frets, what should i do
gaarasclub 3 years ago
I've had this conversation with many Lefties and we all agree that the Left-handed Picker will be a lot better of a player if they play lefty, but in the early stages, it makes little difference on the fret hand as both hands learn just like how you would if you played the piano...but trust me on this being a lefty will mean less guitar modle options and more money spent. I would never be able to go righty now, but I love my picking technique too much to gripe about it. :)
sonicbondage 3 years ago
yeah see thats another problem because my parents got me a nice guitar for christmas last year but its righty and that is supposed to be my learner and if im going to go lefty i cant learn on that one

thats godly dude. i wish i could play like that
ImQuyslamic 3 years ago
You Can!
Step one: Be a Shy Kid with very few friends in High School that needs to express himself creatively!
Step Two: Lock Yourself up in your Bedroom and Play Guitar for 4-8 hours a Day for 3 or 4 years. lol
The painful part is spending all your money on guitars and equipment. ;)
sonicbondage 3 years ago
now, im a guitarist.. when you go to guitar center, can you just go up to a guitar and plug it in and play it? i see em playing when i walk in to look at a guitar occasionally but never got the courage to touch the guitar since im not the greatest xD
WzMystery 3 years ago
I normally hide out somewhere in the corner and play real quiet. It does take 5 minutes to get the fingers moving, but if the store is noisy I sometimes blast it, but I go to a music store maybe 2 times a year. I still think I suck. lol I think it's the self-consciousness we all have to a degree that doesn't go away. It just means our ears are working! lol
