hi i am thinking about getting a mth800 radio in a few days, but i want to be able to join in on convos on talkgroups but i have no idea how i do this, would this radio be able pick up other frequencies such as taxi companies and other motorola radios as i dont really want to join in on there conversations haha, except i have another motorola radio a gp68 do you know if this would be able to work with a mth800 ? as you can possibly tell im new to all this but i would love to learn more
Listening to governmental services transmissions without authority is against the law especially in the uk. The whole reason behind the police using tetra is to stop sensitive data from being Rx-ed by anyone other than the recipients. Even with the required hardware you will not be able to recieve the data correctly because each handset owned by the respective authority has private keys which only they hold in a secured manner.
@marioboyyy SSI is needed to access the network i.e. O2, orange etc etc airwave is the only service provider in the Uk for the tetra network. GTSI is needed to access the group i.e. Thames Valley Police Oxford central police station, Warwickshire Fire Service Rugby Fire Station etc etc. And finally the ITSI is much like your mobile phone number as it id's the unit.
@marioboyyy In responce to your question DMO stands for Direct Mode Only and is a fail safe for network failure but it has very limited range which is about 1 mile. All DMO really is a back to back service
hopefully i will have the SHORT SUBSCRIBER IDENTITY (SSI), GROUP TETRA SUBSCRIBER IDENTITIES
(GTSIs) (Needed for access to the group channel i.e. certain service certain station) and INDIVIDUAL TETRA SUBSCRIBER IDENTITY (ITSI)
these codes will be needed in order to recieve the group that you would like to listen to i will be informing those who wish to be informed. I will also be able to provide undates as and when the key changes.
So, when am I going to be able to plug one of these into a PC, download encryption codes and listen to the police again?? Its a nice thought, isnt it?
Who ? probably not your neighbour but if you think no one can detect TETRA transmission in DMO mode in radius of at least 2000 meters you are very wrong my friend.
@meanleanman If you put the radio into test mode then select the channel you want it doess not show on controlroom system. the way to access the test mode in the motorola range is to press '*' then '#' and then MENU this opens the service menu then all you have to do is find the test mode function

1. You must make sure the Police also using Tetra radios, other than Tetra you can't hear them. Same Frequency Band is a must. 2. And you can hear them when in DMO Mode( Direct Mode) only and again you can't listen to them if they are connected to system, basically in TMO Mode (Trunking Mode). You still can hack into the Trunking Mode but a lot of setup in radio you need to perform for example, Network Code, Color Code, and Country Code. Its hazel basically.
TETRA radios uses Pi/4DQPSK modulation scheme in TDMA domain and Analog radio uses FM modulation scheme in FDMA domain. TETRA is Digital radio and does not work with the Analog. Even in same frequency TETRA radio would able to receive FM Modulation but does not demodulate them when the signal goes to the Baseband processing which is the DSP in this case.
You can buy from me, but i really see no point in buying SIM card for Tetra terminal if you do not have infrastructure where you plan to use the radiio.

@pmaddison1983,
this number (SSI and ITSI) is probably different from each provider service (groups), right? Is it where possible to find ID for DMO group (or TMO)?

Do not play with it, you will have serious problems i assure you !!, regardless of GPS, Tetra radio can be extremely easy located. !!
meanleanman 2 years ago
Who will track you if using in DMO by your own radio ? unless you have stolen TMO radio, maybe OWNER will track radio location !

I am not sure about the scanner, but if you get a MTH 800 for sure you can listen to police,2 things you need to consider >

@kmmaran the network code for airwave is 78 and the country code is 234

It is possible to buy TETRA scanner, howeve somehow i believe you would not be happy to pay the price of such hardware :-)

The SIM card is provided by the service provider, basically users in German police use the SIM Card. And further some SIM card has Encryption .

Can tetra radio's work alongside the old analogue radio's?
eg. can you program a tetra unit on say 453.025 DMO and use it with an analogue radio on the same freq?
Also, these have a simcard slot in the back, do you know where you can buy the simcards?
simonwhatt 2 years ago
Hi, Tetra radio is not work with analogue.
i got MTH800 frequency between 440-470Mhz, i can programming to 453.025 DMO, But there is not work Analogue..!
About the Tetra sim card i have no idea where can you can purchase.
