  • Cool stuff,thumbs up

  • Thia is awesome! I understand ir now?

  • Like this if your science teacher sent you here

  • like this they can add hiv cells with hiv cells and maybe the same thing will happen, might be a cure for hiv

  • Great job! A complex mechanism very easy and clear explained.

  • I dont like the guy talking.

    Recipe? Idiot

  • Ah! What a great introduction to RNAi - thanks! Finally I know a little bit of what it's all about. I wish I could find a lot more of these kind of videos.

  • What I dont understand is the "mirror image" thing. Are the extra purple genes mirror images? And what exactly do thy mean by that?

  • @jesusfish305 They are really talking about double-stranded RNA. The "mirror image" notion refers to both strands being complementary with respect to one another. The reason the inserted purple genes led to the production of double stranded RNA is that the gene could be inserted at a locus that gets transcribed from the strand opposite the sense strand of the endogenous gene. The transcripts containing material from the inserted gene are partially complementary to the endogenous transcripts.

  • @jesusfish305 i think he means the "hairpin" structure of the RNA.

  • @jesusfish305 it means that when they introduced the instruction to express more purple color. The DNA structure was a palindromic sequence.

  • RNA POLICE

  • DAN only works because Jesus lets is work.

  • shouldve made the cop a ninja

  • congrats this video is amazing!

  • er... that sounded wrong!

I meant that the video is fantastic, and a great job on it hehe.

  • Criminally under-viewed!!!

    Great job!

  • Great, great, great! :) Most things I knew, but it's very good to see it in a video instead only to read it in a book from school.

  • so incredibly helpful! provided a few laughs too :)

  • <3 it! very helpful.

  • brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Whats so amazing is that they explained RNAI so simply that even a 6th grader would understand it

  • Still don't get why the "cop" destroyed all the purple recipes even the ones that the scientist didn't introduce. Wouldn't the original purple recipes still be considered ok by the "cop".

  • If the purple pigment isn't essential and it has the potential of carrying a virus, the cell is likely to destroy it just as a precaution.

  • I would think it's more along the lines of specific base sequences that are targeted by the "cop".

  • thats what i think, wouldn't it be more specific rather than the cop just completely destroying everything that has the sequence for a purple color...either the research is still continuing or the cop as the video says just destroys everything thats not essential to the item

  • Don't take any chances, dude.

    "Spy 'round 'ere!"

  • this helped me with my science project thank you soo much!

  • In response to a line in the info. DCA has been found to stimulate mitochondria and enable cancer cells to terminate without effecting healthy tissue. Get interested and invest if you care!

  • perfect analogy, much better than teachers in public school

  • coolest analogy ever!

  • OMG...this really made my day.

I wish I can write this things up for

    tomorrow exam.

  • That was a really good analogy.

  • think I fell in love with RNAi!!! Excellent video!

  • wow, there's a castle in my cells, kooolness.

  • wow... bout the only cops i like ^^

  • awesome animation and interview !

  • Fantastic! Thanks for puttin it up.

  • oh crap i learned this last semester!

  • Thanks for posting this. I love RNAi!

  • Thanks for uploading this =)
