  • Ahh tom carroll and the 80's. ahh the pink sprayon quiksilver boardies, ahhh fluro "le tan' sunscreen. the 80's had it all... mullets, shyt commonwealth games, haleys vomit, er... ah... vomit..yeah. i snuck out to see it, disappointed to say the least, just like the year 2000 computer virus. Though my stomach had a way better virus than that 2012 end of the world mayan boogie man.

Tom Carroll, the man, the winner, the grinner, G Land pits in 95.... "on top of his game" - Rabbit

  • TC turns it up to '11 & that's no lie

  • Soundtrack?

  • "No Lies" Is so fitting.

  • Probably the greatest "Goofy Footers" of all time. Silly the hate for Slater though. Must be from California. When I lived there I had to laugh a lot of the Californians. Anything that wasn't from Cali had to be criticized and wasn't any good.

  • Met TC at pipe the other week, He's got mussels in his shit!

  • The difference between Carroll and Slater is that Carroll was being a cool, down to earth guy at his peak when everyone else was extreme-agro, and Slater is busy being extreme agro while the rest of us are trying to keep our cool. Also, Carroll is a way better surfer. Hope you are doing well and charging Tom.

  • TommyGun.

    Rail to rail master.

  • 1.30!!!!!!!!!

  • do believe you dropped in there Tom @ 0:48?

  • TC is the most underrated surfer of all time. Not the greatest small-wave guy but that isn't what is really important. Witness the power here . . . compare that to other surfing of the time. TC was ahead of the game and doing it with power. Always in the burliest part of the wave. He is the guy that got away from the MR / Gerry Lopez '70s cruisin style and went into gouge-under-the-lip classic high-performance power-surfing. The '80s old-school will always be the new-school.

  • alwyas riding guns in hawaii, even when it was small. 1:30 = perfect hit

  • TC absolutely killing Sunset! Wish more surf movies nowadays had sunset footage, ripping out there impresses me more than blow tails at 4 foot indo.

  • TC 's style so distintive, surfing from the back of the board.

  • yes, times goes by. look at those over-sized boards in comparison with the thin and light boards of today. still, good times the 80's surfing.

  • gee Im getting old.

  • wow at (2:50-2:57) on a gun

  • Interesting how at the time guys often rode guns on small / medium days at while now Slater et al are riding really small boards (5'11").

  • but the way the length of the board is projected out of the wave on those backhand re-entries is exceptionally pleasing aesthetically

  • I had this video and actually wore the tape out. Before every surf I'd watch it to fire up and every time, I surfed better than the last. The good old days.

  • Tom Carroll... the Power Surf Man... the best every time... Carroll is Good

  • 1:29 is epic.

  • al byrne design was sick for the time

  • wow that was awesome old school footy!

  • some of the finest backhand surfing ever at sunset....

  • absolutely spot-on correct...carroll was a monster out there.
