Chip Coffey is like all the other psychics, they are all fakes. The best anyone can do about predicting the future is an educated guess. I also feel that they are taking advantage of the kids by propogating these feelings that they have, probably just the angst and normal frustrations that ALL teenagers go through, obviously others handle them better. I was especially disturbed by the episode where this girl was clearly acting out to get attention from her mother due to a divorce.Just by watching what they actually put on TV it was obvious to anyone with even elementary psychological training. I'm not going to defend Chip Coffey as I think he is a fraud as well. MoveDan, I guess my question to you is: do you believe there is the possibility of paranormal activity, psychics, mediums, demonologists, and things of the sort? What about religious views? I met and spoke with Chip for almost two hours the other day, at a gallery reading. First, he first developed psychic abilities at age 47. So yeah, he has other career paths before this developed. I think what bothers me worst about this is not the fact that he may be lying, or that he may be a fraud. Frankly, I couldn't care about somebodies emotions being hurt over a false psychic. What *does* bother me is the fact that there are young children that don't understand what's going, might have horrible psychological problems and they are being forced out in front a viewing audience.
These kids, lets face it, the truth of the matter is that they have no choice weather or not to be shoved in front of the camera. At their young age it is their parents that make these decisions. These children might grow up years to come, look back on this and feel used.

well I'm psychic and I figured that out on my own, I did alot of research and went on some investigations and I was right about some facts that I didn't know when I went to some nvestigations. But, I think that TV isn't good at proving if there is a sprit or demon there, you have to be there to feel it and see it. and hear it...depending on what your dealing with. But I will do some research and watch his shows and try to debug them....because thats intresting to me...

I was especially disturbed by the episode where this girl was clearly acting out to get attention from her mother due to a divorce.Just by watching what they actually put on TV it was obvious to anyone with even elementary psychological training. She never saw saw ghosts until after her parents decided to get divorced.She expressed how her parents ignored her and how awful that made her feel. When she would claim to have seen a spirit she could sleep with her mom. Chip said she was psychic.

I mean really with not so much as a blur over their face or voice distorter to mask their identity? Im sure that there are parents that were at their wits end and say a good offer from A&E. I feel really bad for the kids on this show because while I believe that some of them really truly have special abilities its so obvious that they are being exploited. Also in reference to the kids being mentally damaged while I dont agree with that statement - these are children that we are talking about and they could easily manipulated, lied to, or just doing it for attention. And yes they could have any number of mental disabilities that cause seeing hearing things and feeling paranoid

@Kahmira102 I base my opinion on what the mental health community had to say about the show. Chip Coffey is not a mental health professional yet he is able to work with children who's parents have permitted to appear on television for exploitation purposes, (and a fee). It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see where the problems lie. Chip Coffey has no credentials, no background working with children and should not be counseling them, END OF STORY. He's an idiotic, dead-end phone psychic.

I'm not going to defend Chip Coffey as I think he is a fraud as well. MoveDan, I guess my question to you is: do you believe there is the possibility of paranormal activity, psychics, mediums, demonologists, and things of the sort? What about religious views? I'm just picking your brain to see where you actually stand on this type of stuff. I've worked in the paranormal field for 5-6 years now and to be honest it's not anywhere near as exciting as they make it out to be on television.

I met and spoke with Chip for almost two hours the other day, at a gallery reading. First, he first developed psychic abilities at age 47. So yeah, he has other career paths before this developed. Sorry, but there is no proof objectively to know whether the paranormal is REAL or not. That is a personal call. But to choose to judge him based on what you see on TV - that is just not necessary. By the way, he was asked to be on those shows, he didnt apply/audition

@moviedan It was at the holiday inn, 400 arch street in philadelphia on april 10th. I volunteered for a related event (TAPS at eastern state), so I went for free. Looking at the website now, it was $50 for the reading, a buffet dinner, and autographs and pictures. Idk about you, but I think that is entirely fair. I am not on a defense team, I just found him to be gifted, friendly, and entirely open. I would have asked your questions if I knew them before I went.

I think what bothers me worst about this is not the fact that he may be lying, or that he may be a fraud. Frankly, I couldn't care about somebodies emotions being hurt over a false psychic. What *does* bother me is the fact that there are young children that don't understand what's going, might have horrible psychological problems and they are being forced out in front a viewing audience.

Weather or not he is fake would be unimportant under normal situations. The fact that he is working with children that could have possible, quite serious psychological problems means that he should be questioned and should be looked into.
Frankly, I don't give a fuck if the man is a fraud or not. What I do give a fuck about is that there is a possibility that mentally disabled children are being putting on camera and being used for money. And that is something that just can't be risked.

Chip does have a lot of unanswered questions, but how do you explain seeing ghosts to a skeptic such as yourself. Like kids talk about people who are dead already, then they research and these people existed. IF it is real, you wouldn't even know that it was, simply because you weren't there. Some kids go on to work with detectives, and you can follow their stories.
