It's not just American and British oil companies, but also Arab and soon to be Asian oil companies that help Iraq produce their oil. Iraq has full control of their oil reserves and tells the oil companies how much of the profits goes to them and their people. This also applies to Africa and other developing countries where the US and EU purchase their resources.
