the tapping happens near the end of the video and yes, it has to stop and reverse direction. the 4000 rpm is achieved during the feed in and, after the reverse, back out.
The spindle speed and running direction depend on its Encoder. So, it could keep acurracy running each time whenever CW or CCW. The cutter or we call taper, it's ISO20 taper with ER collet. That's standard taper in the world.

How can it tap at 4000rpm, surely it has to reverse direction when it comes out each time?
Or is it some special type of cutter or something?

@wtallorder Forgive me, I've been an idiot. For some reason I thought the first bit of the video (the drilling) was the tapping. Silly me!
