I still have a (repro) poster of, The Jefferson Airplane, featuring the E Types and William Pen and his pals. An ectodelic trip at the SF Civic auditorium. Admission was $2.25.
I got it at a poster store on Height St.,40 some years ago.
Put The Clock Back On The Wall - The "E" Types [Salinas, California] - 1967 - "One of my BEST. Very GOOD three-part harmony." - Nuggets: Original Artyfacts From The First Psychedelic Era (Disc 3)-1998. NOTE: This is the Box Set that got me looking for more Unknown Legends of Rock & Roll. :-)
Thanks for posting this Bob! As a fellow musician/60's rock lover, this is one of my favorite garage rock songs of all time. I'm guessing that this was recorded during the Nov 1966 Ed Cobb produced sessions that also included your version of "Live" although I might be wrong.
Anyways, this song is one of my favorites off of Nuggets (where I first heard it) Any time I try to get one of my friends into 60's garage rock, this is always one of the first songs I play to them.
@perfectpitchrob Yes it was produced by Ed Cobb and we did Live and several other songs during those same sessions. (Nov. 1966) I'm glad you like it. It's still one of my all time favorites.
It's funny how this song almost sounds like a Graham Gouldman penned track. It must have been the influences going around at the time, very much a 'British Invasion' type sound despite it being American.
Thanks to Rhino records, I first heard this song about 10 years ago when I bought the boxed Nuggets set. The song has always struck me as being a bit ahead of its time; both musically and in regards to recording quality. And after all this time, it's pretty cool to see that there's actually a video for the song too. Thanks for the awesome upload.
No, the clip was sent to me by a friend in England. (blacflag) I did some editing to get the song to fit.... Hey, it was nice to see you and Larry Hosford at the Beatles Musical in Salinas..... Great evening hearing all those wonderful songs again, especially with the Monterey Symphony backing the White Album Ensemble. Everybody did a fantastic job.
The 'Nuggets' compilation was not very kind when describing the session in the studio when you guys did this one. It still stands the tests of time. I saw you on the Santa Cruz Boardwalk in 65. What great times, KLIV on the VW radio, surfin', pre-proto psychedelia....Gary in Santa Rosa
Here is the quote referring to Put the Clock, "The latter was composed by Bonner and Gordon during an all-night session on amphetamines,........." they are not talking about the E-types. They are talking about Bonner and Gordon being stoned. The drug reference is toward the composers writing session NOT the E-types recording session.
Great to here this old KLIV hit -- as a former DJ - I plated it on KO-93 in Modesto . Do you have the Tiki's ''surf " hit ? og Eddie & the tide -- my copies have vanished
Bob your song "Put The Clock Back On The Wall" was featured in a 1968 movie titled "Blonde On A Bum Trip" and was filmed in New York City. Very interesting my friend!! I thought I would share that with you this morning.
Interesting blend here. Great song as I'm sure you are aware. I feel your pain about the "issues" as I have lost 6 videos in recent weeks of material not available anywhere. It' not for profit so what's the deal?
Very cool song with great into. It really grabs your attention. Love the girls and the way you synced them up to the beat. What a travesty that this tune did not make the top ten. Should have been a hit. Still sounds fresh. Great job, Bob.
Interesting, Bob....how music can be seen through the eyes of others....I wish the gas stations I went to back in the day in Steinbecks valley had attendants like that. As always, the music is great. Thanks for posting.
I have listened to this song no less than a dozen times in the past week, after discovering it about a year ago. I think I'm annoying my wife.

A classic performance by a great band. Seek out 'Introducing the E-Types'.
Hopefully, the cd will be remastered yet again, for another release.

Thanks for clarifying that Bob, Bonner and Gordon were speeding then, not The E-types. They did some writing for The Turtles as well if I recall
