How Alternators Work Part 1, Rotors & Voltage regulators

I was in the market for an alt. upgrade. I had a Ford 1G 60 amp alt. in my truck. It couldn't keep up with the electric rad. fan. After much thought, I realized the best alt. for the job was a Delco CS130D. @ 100 amps. The CS130D is smaller that the 1G and has superior engineering compared to the 3 G. Until ford designs a solid state alt. Delco appears to be the best option.

Can you check a diode on a CS130 with a ohm meter to see if it is good, if so how?

Dude, i'm so new to this, i ahve absoultely no idea on all these terms. However, I find it interesting cause I know alternators take AC into DC for our car's engine.
