  • Bobby Darin: King of Swing and Smooth. (:

  • "Raining " by Bobby Darin is the best , he is & always will be the music of cool !

  • Beautiful song, sung by a genius. I could listen to this over and over and over.

  • Gorgeous song, I love it. Darin is at the top of the pile!!!

  • Incredible ! Great song and I LOVE the band ! Darin Rules !

  • Bobby Darin is my favorite.

  • just love this song so much and this man's talent is extraordinary. never get tired of this.

  • What a great, great tune! Was it ever recorded on an album, or just the flip side of a 45? I'd love to get a hold of it!

  • That sax solo is just incredible ! Great video footage to one of Bobby's many wonderful songs !

  • An absolute treasure. Thanks for putting this up.

  • Does anyone know where you can get this on a CD? I've looked all over . . . . I can't find it anywhere.

    This is simply gorgeous . . . .

  • @mtippen This song is on As Long As I'm Singin': The Bobby Darin Collection, the 4 CD box set. It is worth every penny. This box set has gotten 5 stars from several critics, including Rolling Stone Album guide.

  • @mtippen You can find this, and some other really lovely songs, on "The Very Best of Bobby Darin 1966-1969". Just google the title and you'll find several links.

  • Happy Birthday dearest one-of-a-kind Bobby. You are so missed by many, especially me. You'll always have the biggest place in my heart.

  • OMG ..this is a HIT....a no brainer HIT...Bobby D truly amazing...GENIUS..MUSICAL TALENT!!...soulful, intelligent, intellectual, a thinker...left too soon...a great American legent...we had so many in those days...Thank you for posting.

  • What year was this?

He's still wearing his wedding ring, so

    1966?

  • GRAMMY ALERT! Bobby finally gets the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award Jan 30, 2010!

  • Darn... I don't watch simply because it has evolved to just too weird and sometimes offensive for me, but I wish I had seen Bobby receiving this award. Who accepted it for him and maybe it's here on YT. thanks glad I saw your post.

  • This great, great, great, great song ended up as the B-side of the "If I Were A Carpenter" single in 1966. As impeccable as the A-side is, "Rainin'" should have been a hit in its own right. It's truly the best record he ever did in terms of mood, arrangement and overall intensity. And that's saying a lot. That seventh in the resolve at the end is beyond gorgeous. A monster classic! The man born Walden Robert Cassotto is greatly missed.

  • I too LOVE this, when I saw it on A&E Bio few yrs ago I was astonished. cld you explain what you mean by the seventh in the resolve at the end, maybe I can understand and appreciate gem even more, if that's possible. Do you happen to know what if any CD it's on? thanks

  • Oh yeah, it's a great, great record. I'd rank it right up there with Milord as the best record he did in that genre. Aside from being a single B-side, it was also on his The Shadow Of Your Smile LP & on a CD called As Long As I'm Singin'. The seventh in Rainin' comes in the muted horns right near the end, where the horns go up a half step. It sounds odd or dissonant by itself, but it really, really adds to the mood. Bobby Darin was a genius at creating that kind of drama. Thanks for asking!

  • @MikeBlitzMag - well said...

  • I am continuously amazed at how this man can have his music continue to this day, he was a musical master. I wish he were still here today.

  • vintage bobby in the booth......imagine what he could produce given today's technology, and his intellect?......check out these grizzled old studio musicians, making scale,.......what a cool peek into bobby ,and those days in the studio.....

  • I know what you mean... I love watching the guy with brushes caressing the drums fo rhythmically. God how I love this.

  • Just when I thought this man couldn't get any smoother or sexier, he proves me wrong every time!

  • Does anyone notice that this song sounds like " Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head" by Burt Bacharach from 1969, three years LATER????? Maybe Burt got the idea from Bobby??

  • i thought it was rain drops keep falling on my head at first too...naughty burt!!

  • Wouldnt mind getting the music I play guitar

  • i do not go in... eva

bobby man, wish you were around

show these new cats a thing or two

  • unlike the other greats of his time like elvis and sinatra, bobby kept on growing vocally. although his studio work doesn't reflect this. his live performances are unequaled. just listen to "sweet caroline", "work song", "long line rider", "bridge over troubled water" and so many more. what a great singer

  • I agree Darin grows vocally. No doubt. But check out Elvis in the couple years before he died when he really brought it. He was growing. But it was tougher for him. He started off so great all ready.

  • Bobbys version of Bridge over troubled water just has to one of the best performances ever

  • Yes, this is a super-singer preformimg a real cool song.

  • all of the greats have past on, performing their magic to a world who can no longer hear them

  • excellentae! i love these old b&w films. thank you!

  • pure pleasure.

  • This is my favorite song by Bobby Darin. He was a monumental talent and left us too soon. I have tried to download this on Itunes but they dont have it. I dont think anyone does. Years ago , I found it on Napster.

  • This is some great rare footage of a recording session. I've going to post the song on my channel right now if anyone wants to hear the whole recording.

  • You can get this video on the bonus DVD included in the CD "Aces Back to Back". The footage is rough, but priceless: there documentary footage of all the stars welcoming Bobby back to the Cocoanut Grove in 1966, plus Bobby , Sandy , & Dodd taking a train across the USA. Classic!

  • Love this song, watching Bobby here is just amazing, such a great talent. One of my favorite Darin songs. Thanks for posting.

  • part of the charm of this footage is that of the grizzled studio musicians, the drummer, sax, trumpet.....making scale wages, yet playing in the studio for the greatest live entertainer of all time, Bobby Darin

  • THIS IS STUNNING!

  • The Master at work.

  • sweet foxy daddy.

  • Bobby is another one that left us too soon. He was a great singer and could deliver ant style and did a excellent style. Love his music. I never get tired of listening to it. Rainnin is one of my favorites

  • very interesting vid and a great song really enjoyable

    thanks Desmond for sharing

  • DesmondSun4U sent us here...sure do miss this guy...He left us too soon...I remember him, for not only his music, but for something he said---"They hear, what they see." I never forgot it. 5 stars...thanks for the share

  • Thanks for posting this rare musical gem. Nice pleasure to watch it whenever you wish in youtube. I subscribe what our friend Kenwood3865 said, two months ago, about Bobby Darin, this shows his human side. It was a musical team. Regards from Luis, a meloman, from Lima PERU.

  • Never heard that one before but it's a good one, and sung so masterfully.Thank you for posting......Colin otv.

  • This is one of my very favorite songs Bobby wrote. I love this song and he seems to be enjoying recording the song. thanks for posting.

  • Bobby you've got a hot sexy mouth and your eyes look like fire burning through molasses sweet daddy I love you.

  • you realize he's dead since '73 right?

  • what a cool song - never heard it before. Interesting vid, as well. Thanks for the post

  • it's so important to not only hear and see Bobby here, but even more important to check out the studio musicians....trumpet, sax, drummer, etc, who were paid minor scale wages in the 60's.....Bobby was known for being a tough perfectionist in the studio, in his heyday, but for also be fiercely loyal and generous with his musicians.....he considered himself one of them, and liked to hang out with them!

  • i just love this song. it is so soothing and i listen to it when I need to chill!

Bobby Darin Was ONE OUR GREATEST SINGERS!!! And I LOVE His Voice BETTER THAN MOST Of The So Called Singers Of Today!!!!! donnyoslover

  • BD FAn remarkable footage of our hero:).....but I mostly love theshots of these grizzled old studio musicians that often played for scale, to have work....the drumme here with the brushes, and the trumpet player are great...man, could they tell some stories if they are still around, which I doubt....

  • Love this song, thanks.

  • Thanks for posting this. I just love Bobby's smile as he's recording the song. He seems to have taken great joy in his work.

  • Wow, I did not know this song, but I certainly will try to get the CD of 2004. Thanks for this clip, it just made my day. Is raining outside my window and it was like a ray a sunshine listening to this song by the great one, BOBBY DARIN!!!

  • Bon, this was a flip side of If I were A carpenter. not sure if it's on a CD or was on an Lp ever.Hope this helps.

  • THANK YOU !!! I absolutely love this, the first time I saw and HEARD this on A&E Biography I wanted to crawl into the TV set. Wish he had recorded this just like this. Is this on an album/CD, I'd never heard it.

  • hi bon1042 - I found the CD w/ Rainin' - it's THIS IS GOLD, featuring BD - hope you find it in your area ....a new BD fan

  • Hey SukeyTawdry419, I love your moniker, wonder where you got THAT! thanks so much for info, if it's out there I'll get it. There's a great, the only one left in my area, used/antiquarian book store and they have an amazing collection of LPs, CD's also.

  • Hi bon1042... this song is also on the "Bobby Darin: Aces Back to Back!" CD that was released in 2004. I'd highly recommend that CD, it comes with a bonus DVD as well.

  • I have loved Bobby Darin since I was 13 years old and he still has a place in my heart, Rainin is one of my favorite BD songs.... but then whatever one I happen to be listening to at the time seems to be my favorite thanks for posting....

  • Oh yeah, he's very sexy, very. And this song is so moody and beautiful. ;)

  • Wow! Was he cool or what?

  • Is there a video of him singing his song, "More?" More than the greatest love the world has ever known...

  • Very good video. I have only seen parts of it in on all of the DVD's and CD's of his I have. You can still find much of his music on cd's by doing inter-library loans throughout the USA. Unfortunately this great musician (as I sit here listening to "A Simple Song of Freedom") left us all way too soon.

  • Love Bobby and LOVE this song on a rainy afternoon..

  • I really love all of Bobby songs, but 'Rainin'and 'I will wait for you' are my favorites. This song is so sexy and I love to close my eyes and pretend it is raining and Bobby is singing to me. I know it is corny, but I love Bobby.

  • gosh, no wonder I feel that way,am just glad i found people who feel the same way i do about this song, and about Bobby Darin. Am a new BD fan, and I just feel so mesmerized by him thru this song...you're so right, this song is so sexy, made sexier by Bobby Darin...

  • Thank you!!

  • He tweaks my mood every time. I'm at work now - ho hum - and needed a BD fix, and now I have been sucked into this blissful vortex of masterful musical wizardry. Apparently even more clips have been added since my last visit and I have to see them. I can't stop. Work be damned... Thank you for sharing this!

  • Inside the mind of a musical genious!

  • I'm just so mesmerized by this song! I thought "Mack..." & "Beyond..." will be my all-time favorites among his songs, but when i heard this and "Some of these Days" - wow, was I really mesmerized by them!...just curious, did this become a hit?...thanks, new BD fan...
