lol, maybe you want to revisit this comment now? A good player? Sure, if 18 ppg on 44% shooting with virtually no assists and a bunch of turnovers is "great things" then yeah, he's done exactly what they need from him at TEN MILLION DOLLARS.
My point is Maggette sucks. He's an ball-movement killer who's gotten his gaudy stats on bad teams and hasn't won a damn thing. He's a scorer first, team player 57th.
Why are all you Warrior homers making things up?! LOL The Clippers wanted Baron - and they got him. The Clippers no longer wanted Maggette - hence they declined to match what Corey had on the table from the Warriors. How can you rub it 'back in the Clippers' faces' with a player they decided was no longer part of their plans? This isn't the Lakers hoping to retain Turiaf and losing him to the Warriors. The Clippers were gonna move on w/o Maggette from day 1 and give his spot to Thornton.
I guess your right. I thought I heard tha Maggette chose to leave, I guess not. But it really seemed to me that Baron chose to leave at the last minute which, from my perspective didn't seem real smart. But wahtever, I guess I'll take your word for it.
Baron chose to leave for 2 reasons. 1) He wanted to get paid long-term one last time but Mullin insulted him with a 2 yr/28 mio. lowball offer. Of course he's not gonna take that when he can get 5/65 from LAC and play in his home town. 2) He was lured to LA by Brand who told LAC he would re-sign and take 'less money', i.e. 5/70, if they got Baron. They got him but Brand backed out of his promise after his agent, Falk, started to twist his head and decided to pry him away from LA no matter what.
Baron's going downhill and has nagging injuries. That's why the Warriors didnt re-sign him to the big deal. We didnt lose much w/ Baron goin to LA.Maggette's subpar but ya never know. Clippers will suck neways.
Are you nuts?! Baron's been pretty healthy the last 2 years and at 29 he still has a lot of good years ahead of him. Warriors are f'd now that Monta is out for 3 to 4 months - better hope Marcus Williams can handle the 1. Maggette is good but he doesn't make anyone around him better, just like bRANd. Clippers just got way better with Baron, Camby, J-Will, Ricky Davis, Skinner plus Hart, Eric Gordon, Steve Novak and DeAndre Jordan who has massive potential at C.
for all the Warrior fans, lets just forget about Baron Davis let him lead the Clippers, we all know clipper suck! and let just wish that monte ellis can step up his game and maggete put a light on this team.
"all these lame ass clippers fans trying to talk mess on maggette now. aye just cuz yall lost him and brand at the same time dont come over here hatin. nobody wants to be a clipper."
David, do a fact check: Maggette ASKED the Clippers to match the Ws offer - he wanted to STAY a Clipper! The C's declined because they have Thornton ready to take over Corey's minutes & production and then signed Ricky Davis for low dough who's capable of duplicating Corey's pts & is a better shooter and defender.
Put 2 and 2 together: If Corey is really jonesin' to go to the Warriors - why would he come back to the Clippers and give them the option to match the W's money? That sounds to me like his preferred choice would've been to stay where he was. That doesn't mean he isn't happy where he is right now but he clearly hoped to stay a Clipper (and who could blame him seeing that the Clippers finally got that top flight PG they never had while Maggs was in town - except that first year with Cassell).
Put 2 and 2 together...? That's 4. Well if I leave my job because someone pays me more money and then I go back to my previous employer and say that I'll stay if you can match, in my opinion, that doesn't mean I wanna stay. That just means I'll go to whoever pays my asking price.
You refuse to get it, dude. Maggette was BETWEEN jobs because he opted out of his deal. He wanted to get paid. The Warriors made him an offer. He took that offer back to the Clippers and said, "I'd like to stay in L.A. if you match what the Ws are offering me." The Clippers declined to match because they have Thornton @ SF ready to take over Corey's minutes. Al makes 3 times less than Maggs and could duplicate his production as early as this season. Geddit?
Your opinion is based on fiction. My opinion is based on fact. You YOURSELF wrote: "All he did was just give the Clips first dibs to pay him the money." EXACTLY!!! LOL - And why did he give the Clips 'first dibs'? - Because he wanted to STAY a Clipper. DUH! You don't bother giving someone 'first dibs' if you don't want to be there. It makes zero sense.
Dude shut up already. Now you're just getting annoying. You're probably someone who read the entire Encyclopedia Britannica and Dictionary, and was the teacher's pet. Okay, whatever you said, you win. I agree.
Hi. Remember me? Last we chatted, I said "I agree with you." Notice the quotation marks. For the record, I still don't agree. I just got tired of going back n forth with you. Just happened to respond now because I'm excited for the season ready to begin, and wanted to see if there's any new comments here. GO WARRIORS.
Everybody keeps saying Baron's gone, we lost our leader. I love the dude, but let's not forget that Baron and Jackson were playing the worst ball of everybody on the squad at the end of last season. That's why I'm so glad they got Azubuike back, cause him and Monta were the brightest spots on the team near the end, IMO. Stacks can lead us, and I think Williams, Monta, and Watson will do an okay job at point. Team chemistry is key this year.
Funny enough your GM thought so little of Azu that he only matched the Clippers' offer sheet because Evans backed out of his deal with the W's at the last minute and signed with the Hawks after they lost Childress for nothing. The W's have to hope that Monta turns into a stellar PG even though he is clearly a SG and that Beans/Turiaf take it to another level otherwise you are screwed coz your wings aren't gonna be able to save the day.
maggette is going to fit well in this system. One of many things that the warriors lacked last year was a guy who got to the line a lot. Cory was one of the top 2 or 3 guys in the league in FT attempts per game.
Good pick up for the Warriors and they also got Turiaf. But lets see whos better now between the Warriors and Clippers which is a rivalry in the making.
Just switch Jackson at SG and Maggette at SF and it's all good. Stephen Jackson's natural position is SG he's just been playing SF for the Warriors since we had Baron, Richardson and Monta as the great backcourt
this is a good addition. if we got elton brand then BW and/or ZR wouldn't have as much time 2 develop. this will be a good contribution. as much as baron contributed, we will still have monta who will progress into a BD if not better, and a BW and AR who will probably develop into an elton brand. ABC will dominate in the future.
If you knew Corey you would know he didn't sign for the money. His family wanted to stay down here, when he got the offer from Golden State it was his best opportunity to stay close and within the state. But he truly is a stand up guy in all aspects of life.
I think Monta can step up to PG but I'd rather still see him at shooting guard. We just got Marcus Williams too so I really don't know but you can expect a LOT of different Starting line-ups all season as we've seen the last few haha.
all these lame ass clippers fans trying to talk mess on maggette now. aye just cuz yall lost him and brand at the same time dont come over here hatin. nobody wants to be a clipper. at least yall got BD. we aint hatin good luck to him and clips.
Im happy that we have maggette on the warriors....i think he'll help us to go to the playoffs this year and if we do make the playoffs i hope that baron davis feels regret for leaving the warriors
Maggette for 10 million a year for 5 yrs??? Haha...he got waaaay overpaid. You'll see how much he sucks and how he's a cancer on his team when he's on the floor. At the end of the game when it counts most, he takes bad shots, never passes, and turns the ball over....By the way after Maggette got the offer from GSW, he asked the Clips to match, and the Clips said No Thank You.
this guy used to PISS ME OFF whenever we played the clippers. he'd get to the line whenever he dang well pleased and i couldn't STAND that. glad we got him. now i don't have to hate him anymore. welcome to the dubs, core.
I understand why BD had to go. Not getting paid to play is a big no no if you want a good player to work hard. Chris M. Should have guarantee BD with Money and BD would have stayed in the Warriors. But nope. Chris M. Is effing up Bigg.
Now Baron is gone, No more random, idiotic, retarted Threes at random times. New starting 5: Monta pg Jack sg Magg. sf A.R or B.W pf A.B C Bench: Bellineli Azabuke CJ
Hell yeah maggette is sick ass fuck! It would of been tight if we got Elton Brand but fuck it at least im not mad about Baron fucken leaving...we got a solid roster now can't wait for the season to fucken begin it takes hella long
Great interview, and seems like a solid leader who'll set a good example for the younger guys on the team. It'll be real easy cheering for Maggette this year.

Who knows, I could be wrong about Corey. Most people thought that we had to take on Stephen Jackson to get Harrington, turns out that Jackson ended up being the centerpiece of the deal. Corey could be a surprise too.
On a depleted Clippers team yeah, plus he's just as injury prone as Baron Davis. Don't get me wrong, he's good and all; i'm just not getting too excited about the signing. He seems like a vocal guy though, handled this interview well.
