I think that the song is great. To me they were inspired by two songs for this. I think they saw the success of maroon 5 and constructed that for the verses and the chorus is very similar to "you get what you give' by the new radicals, even the placement of the word "don't" and "one" in the same positions . Being that I like maroon 5 and new radicals this song = awesome.
