  • Google search ...Gulen Charter Schools. Then take action spread the word and shut them down.

  • well wit teabagging, and hardcore sarah palin supporters, we sure need 4 billion investment in education

  • If you had to write a paper on this video, thumbs up this comment :P

  • I'm writing the paper now, actually...

  • Comment removed

  • Why is that?

  • boo

  • 02:24 is cool

  • lol i go to that school it was fucking awesome!

  • 28:35 Set a high bar in the household. Amen.

  • 4:39

  • In many ways the United States will benefit from the revolution that president Obama started;healthcare, education and the environment will be improved substantially.I hope that the Dutch government will follow the huge improvements in US politics.

  • Took a Clinton to Fix a Bush Mess, Now it will take an Obama to fix a Bush Mess.

  • I'm not saying he's holding the mop the wrong way; I'm saying that he hasn't even bothered to pick one up yet!

  • He's done more to fix things in 1 year, then the bush admin has done in 8 years? So how hasn't he picked up the mop? You people are irrational and one- way minded, it's Common Sense, I guess people like you believe what they want to. Where are all the Sane, Intellectual, Minded Individuals?

  • If he's done so much I would think you could mention just one thing. But you didn't.

  • I'll name a couple, closed gitmo, overturned torture tactics, ended the war in iraq, passed a stimulus that ensured the stability of America, Instituted a number of programs cash for clunkers one of them to get Americans buying again, Passed legislation to stop the criminal credit card companies from cheating the public, and many more, you asked for One I figured i'd give you a little more than that.

  • guantanamo bay is open, obama's only plans of closing it involve moving it stateside. We are still in Iraq. The stimulus is a failure, as I said before the gov can't create prosperity. Cash for clunkers was a stupid idea that actually hurts poor people who would have bought those cars (they can't afford new ones). Credit card companies weren't cheating people, they just weren't smart enough with their debt to stay out of trouble. I pay attention to my credit card agreements to avoid charges.

  • Luxe-closed GITMO, really?

-overturned torture tactics?-PC crap got us Ft. Hood.

-Iraq? The Surge ended that before the election...

-Stability in America? Unemployment beyond 10.2% and rising...etc...

Throiwing money at a problem is what the Dems are good at, not solutions.

    School issues-

-Am I dressed in the latest Idol gear?

    -Cellphone fully charged?

-Am I in the right clic? etc...

Until they address the quality of the educ, and the PC crap, we don't have a chance.

  • Yea And We All Know How things turn Out when Republicans try to Resolve things.... They Make the Problems Worse, We Dems aren't perfect but We try at least with the best interests of the American People in Mind and NOT* Special Interests. I'd rather side with the lesser of two Evils.

  • Luxe, I have a novel idea...Why don't we vote EVERYBODY out of office, and start new, with the resolve that if the gov't doesn't work for the People, they're fired!

I'm registered as a Rep, but I vote conviction, not Party...Anyone who votes Party is a useless, mindless individual.

The original argument stands though, things you listed have not come to fruition as stated...

  • Another Point I would like to make is that conservatives are against spending for Health care reform, yet they push to send more troops and prolong the War in which the U.S. spends 15 Billion a Month, Money That Could Be Saved to bring down the Deficits, Don't Let Conservatism Fool you! They Don't Care about spending and deficits it's not about that!

  • So your point is that they don't care about deficits so we won't care about deficits? That sounds like a marriage about to go into bankruptcy when the two partners try to outspend each other. Instead of petty arguments of Rep vs Dem or lib vs con why not attack each point on it's own merits? Deficit spending is bad for the future of this country no matter what the title of the group that is doing it.

  • You Obviously don't understand policies and the way things work, if barack wouldn't have taken the measures he has taken, we would be in a deeper hole, historically and it is just as true today as it was during wars throughout history and great economic collapse it's "Ok" to run up the deficit to get the ball rolling again, Sort of like how when companies are in debt, They take out more debt to pay their previous debt.

  • Wasting money for the sake of wasting money does nothing to improve your situation. What you don't understand is that the government cannot create prosperity. It cannot create jobs without taking from the people to pay for the jobs. The government must take from the populace to provide anything.

  • The Gov't can't create prosperity but it can Ensure it. Taxes are the way of the Land. No functioning nation can do without them. So I guess we agree on that.

  • the research and funding that led to the internet was all government. do you believe the internet has not created prosperity? cellphone technology is due to military research. the support of medical research has created who knows how many cures. do you think these things don't help?

do you believe infrastructure investments are useless?

that's what all this is: investments. $4 billion isn't chump change, but chances are the return-on-investment here will far outweigh the temporary cost

  • I Wonder where were conservatives complaining about spending and debt, When Bush was doubling our national debt and pushing forward legislation without paying for it, and Cheney with his famous remark "Deficits Don't Matter" I wonder where was the Tea Party Then?? Seems People have Selective Memories. It's All Game It's not about Obama's Policies it's about his Skin Color, Period.

  • That's what got him elected: you can't say anything about barack or you're a racist. Policies don't matter we're just special because we got a black (ignoring the white half) president. Alan Keyes didn't have a whit momma and his policies were a lot better.

  • 4 billion, I guess when you have so much debt you might as well keep spending. Shouldn't the US stop chem trails and water fluoridation if they want children to be smarter.

  • There's something the president could do that would help education more than anything else... /watch?v=l7FS5B-CynM

  • $4 billion to teach children to sing

    HMMMMmmm Hmmmmmm HHHmmmm

    Bbaraaack Huussein OOObamaaaa

  • Give women the right to choose their children's education not just the right to choose to slaughter them in the womb. School vouchers allow parents to choose which school to send their children to. It is the only fair way to bring compitition to the education market. Obama will never do that though because he is in bed with the teachers union who don't want to have to fairly compete. Forced socailized education is nothing more then indoctornation.

  • women president for 2012, elect a women for president and vice president like first queen of America.

  • @bass109

    you mean like sarah palin

    thats scary

  • The Obamas send rheir kids to private school.

  • This is one area I agree with the Administration. Education is good for the economy, society, and pursuit of happiness, so I'm glad they are spending on education.

And the firewall against teacher performance reviews is a disgrace. Education should be about improving students minds, not allowing unions to castle build positions for inept teachers.

    Good job.

  • If Polly-ticians want high test scores from students, why not fine parents with kids that have a 1.9 or less? And give tax breaks to parents with kids that have a 3.0 and better. I bet test scores will start going up when parents have tax incentives! :-)

  • Hasn't this idiot already wasted enough of our money?

  • Investing in education is waste? And he's the idiot? Maybe if education was invested in where you came from you wouldn't be having the intelligence issues your having today.

  • Your indoctrination must have worked well. We already spend more than most on education and your dumb enough to think throwing more money at the problem will fix it? That's not an investment that's pissing away taxpayers hard earned money.

  • he's very aware of how you can't just "throw more money" at it. and he's also aware that you can't just "reform" it either

he's mentioned in other speeches how you need both reform AND the resources necessary to accomplish it. that's what this is. if you watch the video you'll see that the conditions for these grants are actually very demanding

  • The feds ought to get out of education all together and leave it to the states. The problems metro Detroit has are completely different from those in rural Colorado and a bureaucrat in DC hasn't a clue how to fix either.

  • Think about it the Feds Wouldn't have to get involved in the first Place If The States were doing things right! Think about it, it's common sense! At Least the states have proven that they don't know what their doing! Because we have a failing school system, so let's see if the FEDS can do it better.

  • Try reading the constitution sometime it's not the federal governments job to get involved in education at all. Common sense says that those involved with a problem at a local level would be better suited to solving it than far removed bureaucrats that aren't familiar with the problem. The federal government derives power from taxing the people and then handing the money back to the states with strings attached, this is the only reason the federal Dept of Ed exists, it's a usurping of power.

  • So The Fed is just suppose to sit back, While Our Students continue to fail and fall behind other nations around the rest of the world? I'm for the Fed getting involved if the states can't do it right, which they aren't. Our Students are the future of america, the fed can't afford to sit back and let our kids fail when the state isn't doing their job right.

  • that's why even though the conditions for the grants are pretty strong, they are still very general

for example, one of the conditions is that the states have to have high standards for students, and that they help students meet those standards. it doesn't matter HOW they help children meet those standards. it is UP TO THE INDIVIDUAL STATES how to do it

and in fact that's probably part of the design: competition, and having the states come up with novel ideas that all the states can learn from

  • we gotsa eddumakate our kids!

  • First comes Lincoln, then comes Washington, then comes FDR, TDR, Kennedy and then comes Obama

  • nope, Lincoln got nothing on obama, this president obama saves the whole planet.

  • Lincoln has nothing on Obama. Lincoln has nothing on Obama? Really. Without Lincoln you'd still be living in a country divided. Without Lincoln we'd still be living in a Union and a Confederacy. Without Lincoln I and hundreds of other black people would be slaves. This country owes a huge debt of gratitude to Lincoln which can't be measured in words. He preserved the union. All due respect to Obama, but when it comes to Presidents Lincoln is that dude

  • Did you know Lincoln had to pursade his party "Republicans" who were white, with a speech that made blacks inferior to whites, which Lincoln smartly used, in order to manipulated his own racist party by showing sympathy and remorse. It's in one of Lincoln's speeches, but I'm Lincoln knew he had no chance if he said that blacks were eqaul to whites, so he used human emotions that would pursade his party to fight against the confederacy.

  • uhhhhhh

Please tell me you're not American.

  • what? JUST BECAUSE I THINK LINCOLN IS BETTER THAN OBAMA. What the hell happened to Freedom of Speech in this country? Man, get the fuck outta here. Yes, I am a American and it doesn't say anything in the constitution about how I have to agree with every fucking opinion someone expresses on Youtube. What the fuck you wanna do Lavatorr? Cuss me out cuz I thinl Lincoln was better than Obama.......GO AHEAD MAN........start some gay ass internet battle. Please. Get da fuck outta here

  • Great Education, Energy Reform, and Healthcare Reform are the only ways to bring our economy forward. Keep up the good work USA!!!!

  • The best President ever!!!!

  • Thanks for FINALLY coming to wisconsin

  • we shouldn't just raise the standards. we should provide the means to achieve our goals...

    so true #nochildleftbehind #underfunded #anotherbushfail

  • Wisconsin FTW!

  • obama is going to be raptured with all of the other children of god. God will save America and his son will become king of earth. He will rule all nations under god and all will follow lord jesus christ. peace in world will be finished.

  • YES! This is great. I work in Oakland CA Unified School district. We really need this help. I hope to God we see the money soon. YES!

  • barack obama the best president ever********

  • No American could possibly oppose investing in education. I love initiatives like this that will surely bring Republicans and Democrats together.

    LOL

Whoops, I forgot that Obama hater hate everything and try to block everything no matter how much harm their obstruction does to the American People. So self-destructive.

  • I know right. If the President helped my Grandma across the street, they would insult him for it in some way. God bless America, good job on electing a great Prez!

  • Reporter: Hmm, the President is helping that nice old lady to cross the street.

Rush Limbaugh: It's the Nanny State!

Michelle Bachmann: He's going to throw her under the bus!

Glenn Beck: He's a Nazi Commie Arab Jew Welfare State Plutocrat Warmongering PACIFIST!

Bill O'Reilly: We have some more truly DISGUSTING video of teenagers dancing on tables in the cafeteria half-dressed. Disgusting!

  • The whole education system is broken. Some basic things like mandatory school uniform (no baggy pants, tattoos etc..), class descipline, learn how to respect your teachers, parents & elderly people.

You don't need 4 billion dollar to change the system.

    No drugs/weapons in school.

No chewing gum, vending machines(junk food), skateboards & bullying allowed in school.

  • If you have all the answers why dont you get on the school board or get into politics instead of sitting on youtube criticizing the President's efforts?

  • Comment removed

  • If we took the amount of money made from sports, we could probably solve all the worlds problems...

  • only $4billion. we meed more than that

  • i can believe this! first a mooslim wins the presidency and THEN THIS! investing in our children??? who does this barack hussein antichrist obama think he is???? this is wrong...

    not my president!!!!

  • What is a mooslim? Anyways, carry on with your disproved accusations.

  • hello!!!! everyone knows obama is not a christain.. just wait for 2012, you'll see!

i hope you know jesus... he loves you!!

    peace!

  • No, everyone does not know or think that he is a non-Christian. In 2012 he will reveal this somehow?

    I don't know Jesus.

  • ......

    ;)

  • I have a brother named Jesus. He goes by Chuy though.

  • RuthlessRuth 1234, this is sarcasm correct?

  • Honestly everything in education should go digital. I'm twenty years old and I can tell you right now education is so stale in San Francisco, California. Lets be honest here, education in my state and other states aren't doing very well in education. Public schooling has limited and poor sources for students, and Public schooling is so expensive. We need to improve technology for school and make it affordable for everyone.

  • I dont agree. Books are not going anywhere. Kids cant carry around Kindles everywhere but then can use paperbacks. I work in an Architectural Library and volunteer in the school library. Digital is and will be more and more a part of education. They use online textbooks already in our school but books have their place too. We need to invest more in education, not less. It should be one of our top priorities. We must put education first . Volunteer in the school.

  • what thing u are not agreed to? but i really admiring your plan to make every one engage more to the schools in there community, and the beast volunteers are : the parents themselves, that's how u can then support and improve your community and your child education quality.

so you really should start with yours.

  • We don't need more trade schools. We need charter/essential schools. We need to develop sciences and critical thinking. We need to foster creative capacities. We have too many problems that need solving in this world, and there won't be any cross-disciplinary insights unless we foster broad perspective education, and stop mining our kids' minds for specific qualities which we obviously do not all possess. We can't keep grading on a curve and stigmatizing mistakes, thereby obstructing creativity.

  • In relation to the political decontamination of our public life, the government will embark upon a systematic campaign to restore the nations moral and material health.

Why nationalize industry when you can nationalize the people?

Society's needs come before the individual's needs.

Believe me, National Socialism would not be worth anything if it were to be confined.

The above quotes sound like Obama,? but they are from Adolf Hitler.

  • What is the name of the political doctrine President Obama and his administration has adopted from Communism?

What is the name of the political doctrine President Obama and his administration has adopted from Marxism?

What is the name of the political doctrine President Obama and his administration has adopted from fascist dictatorships?

What is the name of the political doctrine President Obama and his administration has adopted from Adolph Hitler?

    The answer is Socialism.

  • race to the top,,lol,, more like plunge to the bottom...

  • All of you idiots complaining this will help us in the long run. he hasn't even been in office a year yet and has done alot

  • It's best to ignore those comments made by a bunch of teenagers who have no clue what they're talking about and didn't watch all 32 minutes of the video.

  • This idiot has spent more money in 10 months than Bush did in 8 years.and still no new factories. Only government or police or military jobs available.. what a fraud....

  • Not true learn the facts FOOL

  • TROLL ALERT ►► JusFineN09

  • aww....gay.....4 bill into school....w t f....

  • Time is money so we need to start investing more time in each and every small/major city and state does not matter if its the highest or lowest dropout rate every school needs something to be changed or fixed somewhere down the line.

  • I dont understand why most of us believe just because a persons passion is to fix cars, build a house, drive a garbage/recycle truck, welding, fishing, brick laying, farming, ect they dont deserve the heights level of education which is a college degree. Give them the education everyone deserves then maybe we wont have to teach them a job we could just train them on it.

  • Books are for a person who wants knowledge an loves to read an all educated people will read a book at some point an time. Opinion, we have them this is mines.

  • I wrote this in Microsoft word just so I could use spelling & grammar check and the quote I used in the search bar to see the correct way to spell knowledge is.Knowledge Is Power.

  • He has such a nice speaking voice. If he wasn't a politician I could listen to him all day....LOL

  • Throwing more money at schools is not the answer. Having experienced teachers and behaved kids would be the solution.

Quit wasting time & money on frivilous things - In major cities - with the highest drop out rate - Build nothing but TRADE schools. BOOKS ARE NOT FOR EVERYONE! Lets get that straight. So build trade schools for the drop outs to attend and learn a trade. Driving a garbage truck pays WELL. A Recycle truck pays more. - Welding, Fishing, Brick Mason, Farming, ect. TEACH them a JOB!

  • Do you think its the governments job to make your kids behave? What happened to the days where the father would take the kids out and teach them a trade?

  • Then you should put your money where your mouth is and be the first to build a trade school and the second to put your kids through it.

  • I feel the same way when I see Republiklan on television. I won't get them the time of day on the internet.

  • I agree, the Republicans are just the same.

  • It must be literary difficult for Obama to go ahead when a fierce wind blows into his face. Though when the wind comes backwards he goes twice as fast. His ears function as sails.

  • I love the Obama's and yes I voted for him and would do it again and again and plan on it.

Do I drink the Koolaid? Every last drop and very proud of it!

    Obama2012!

  • Right on!

  • The Obama children attend private school.

  • what do you mean he wants his kids to have a good education it's his choice

  • Actually its every Americans choice. We are all part of the solution.

  • by implication, Mr. Obama is a hypocrite on education

  • he talks like a prof

  • "he gets the ears of almost everyone in the country ...".

and he's got bigger ears as almost everyone in the country too ...

  • The president with the largest ears contest winner would have been L.B.J.

  • As a matter of fact, yes I remember, L.B.J. also had outstanding ears.

  • Question... where are we getting the $4 Billion from....? Last time I checked we were trillions in debt.... of course, the magical money printers that never run out of ink and paper...

  • We spend over two billion each week on our wars... 4 is pocket change to our gov. right now, sadly...

  • so your solution is to not put money into education...?

  • @trilogyfilm

No. However, we don't have any to put any into it therefore we should not be spending money that we don't have. Regardless of what it's on. Wake up, we can't keep spending , it has to end somehow.

  • i'm with fornss on this one....its not that much money and education is important, and on a bigger note we cant just stop spending and let the country run into the ground all so we can pay of some debt =p

  • Haven't you ever heard the expression, "You have to spend money to make money"?

  • EvanConover, that's right. We must invest in our future.

  • wtf?

  • 1. i can message you a link

  • Comment removed

  • So I don't see how replacing males with females with Title IX S.T.E.M is going to get us up from our current international PISA rank of 34th in math and 29th place in science of all OECD and non OECD countries???? We are so far behind. I don't understand how replacing males with females in our colleges is going to help.

  • Finally something right. What's the catch?

  • Education: 4 billion

    Wallstreet: 3 trillion.

this is nothing more then a publicity stunt.

  • haha so so true bro.

  • Yeah, and he definitely need the publicity. This video is 2 hours old with 285 views. People are tuning out, and I'm loving it.

  • Videos always freeze at aroud 300 if they get a lot of views in the first few hours, you have to wait for it to update.

  • I'm well aware of when the views count freezes, and it hasn't happened yet. Now 290 and 3 hours in.

  • OK, but it was still posted 2 hours ago. It's 1 am and the white house always posts a shit load of videos every day, they are just small updates, at least this administration tries better than most I've seen to keep us updated...

  • Would people stop complaining about everything the president does and give him a chance?

He's only had a year and he's doing what he can.

Investing in education is one of the smartest things he can do right now.

PLEASE look at what he HAS done instead of what he HASN'T. Also, blaming him for problems he didn't cause. Don't forget who started the current wars which created a lot of our national debt. Bush was in office when the war started and you elected him twice, in case you forgot.

  • Republicans don't believe in education, health, equal rights, etc...but they do believe in the wonderful lord our savior Jebus Christ...Thank God!

  • @fornss there are Republican atheists, Muslims, Jews, and etc., and the other crap you mentioned was bogus too.

  • I'm not saying there aren't , and denying gays marriage is against equality, the rest was stupid though...;)

  • I don't understand. Education Sec. Duncan said himself that along with the Council On Women and Girls Title IX S.T.E.M or Science, Technical, Engineering and Mathematics for girls is the future..

They said that girls get 60% of all college degrees and the plan was to get it up to 70 to 90%? by forced equality in S.T.E.M.

Just like Title IX did to the sports programs.. I am not sure what the president means when he talks of equal opportunities?

  • When I saw the thumbnail for this, the title said "President Obama Announces $4 Bil..." and I thought, "Oh my gosh, the treasury's going to be printing a $4 Bill now?!"

Needless to say, I was somewhat disappointed by the truth.

  • Our education system is one of the most costly system in the world. It's not money that's the issue.

Why does everyone think tossing even more money will help?

  • I like the idea of giving money to the educational system, but not one that promotes competition. Education isn't about seeing who's best or smarter, it's about teaching students so that they actually are able to learn. Competition promotes "accountability" which basically means standardized tests that take time from teachers and don't really test progress, they test how well students can take tests. This idea sort of scared me, I really hope educational values don't diminish because of this.

  • meh....i'm wondering how inflation is going to effect everything once that hits.....that's my main concern right about now.

  • Okay I can see a very bad outcome of this. The winner only wins by lowering standards so far that they destroy their own school for the 4 billion.

We do need to improve our educational system and that requires better education at the home and ensuring each school has an appropriate infrastructure that is up to date, open to audits, and ensures strict standards that should not be lowered. Also not reduce funding for poor performance that in itself is counter intuitive.

  • Throwing money at lazy teachers and an over bloated board of education will not improve anything! the real solution is to reduce class sizes, and give children a tougher curriculum with better teachers to create a love of learning! students that show promise should be put in classes with likewise children to create frendly competition and most importantly, PLACE BETTER PAYED AND MORE EXPERIENCED TEACHERS IN POOR AND MINORITY SCHOOLS WHERE THEY ARE NEEDED THE MOST!

  • Wow its hasnt been a year yet. and he improved alot!

  • It was a great speech and good planning towards the future of the US. Great foresight!

  • Audit the Fed - Ron Paul

  • I lost the presidential nomination - Ron Paul

  • I'm so excited about this, we have needed to improve our educational system here in the U.S. for quite some time now.

  • no one watches this because it was just uploaded. its still proccessing.

  • Because this video is posted very recently, take a look at the date and views.

  • ya, cuz most people just dont give a sh*t, its annoying =p and no its not the lag, all there videos are low on views, i guess we're a fred nation, fml =/
