hey man im thinking about buying a quad but i dont know what to get i dont want to spend a heap of money on my first but ive had expierience and i want it to be able to be ridden fast and hard in the bush and dirt and stuff eg beach dirt bush much appreciated
This is one of the best things Yamaha could've done right now. The YFZ is so well refined by now that reliability shouldn't be an issue. As far as carbureted sport quads go, this is easily the best one going, only because its so cheap and so well built.
bought one brand new back in 2005, don't have it anymore but when they first came out they were 7,599 dollars with taxes never road a yfz 450r tho...anyways, glad to see the carb yfz back
I love what yamaha is doing with this model. I remember when you could buy a good 450r class quad for less than 7 grand on any given day. Now you have to spend upwards of 9000 dollars to ride a competitive 450. With suzuki pricing their 400 at 7099, the yfz450 will clean house in its price range.
My name is Alexander. I have a dream. I want to buy a motorcycle but I'm poor. I beg you to help. I would be grateful even for the very little money. USD № 3900000M450
@pktillidie I bet you'd be wrong. Shocks are certainly spec'd down, but performance is still acceptable. If you want to race you can always upgrade shocks - or just by the YFZ450R.
Allright. Basically they brought back the original YFZ with a few changes. They stopped making (or simillar) the YFZ450R which was fuel injected. They say the carburetor has more power. I think it could also be a marketing strategy too. Ant the YFZR had an aluminium frame. Maybe theyre bringing old school back. Or maybe the old school engine is better ant they havent designed an aluminium frame for it. Who knows? I have the original YFZ and I like it. Its very comfortable and pwerfull. Enjoy!
@mossow71 im sorry to ruin your day, but yamaha still sells the old carburated yfz40. they also sell the fuel injected 450r. but it is the 2012 model. its "new" for 2012 but its the old bike but they just brought it back. check yamaha's website. its still there. the plastics and graphics are the same for the 2012. but you need to research these things before you say its the 450r.
p.s. the headlights are further up in the 450r models rather than the regular 450 models.
@shortstuf911 must be in a different country that they sell the carbed model yfz's i have been to 3 yamaha dealers in the past month i i have seen for sale is 450r's

I don't know I might get it, we sold my 07 450 witch was amazing, Didn't have a problem with the width at the dunes, but I guess the 450r is Fuel Injected, longer width, and all that jazz.
I don't know, I wish I could get another YFZ, fuck the economy right now...
@halfpipeman No it has no reverse, and it depends all YFZ's are lower, more of a dirt or sand sporty racing quad.
@whitechocolate466 like I said to Half pipe, it all depends. it will hit a lot of rocks.

So for trailriding and general all around, I'm confused whether to get a 700 Rappy or this. The 450 is way lighter and now makes more low end hp!!
