I think you have good things to say and some concerns seem unreasonable. Your advice about investing in precious metals/commodities is spot on. Dollar has lost quite a bit of its value and anything you can do to protect your investments against inflation would be wise.

I hold a much more pessimistic view of what is yet to come. I believe that things will be far worse than the great depression by an order of exponential magnitude. Back in the great depression a sizable segment of society still lived on farms and could provide sustinence for themselves, today the overwhelming majority of people live in condos, townhouses, houses with little or no arable land. People will turn to the people who have already betrayed them and expect salvation (the gov't).
