I am with Power Brake Service, we do performance brake upgrades and we need to get ahold of any of the Typhoon, Syclone, turbo GM trucks of that era to do a video of. Turbos rob vacuum from the brake booster and we retrofit hydraulic brakes to solve that. @383REN well the interior came with the truck but before i bought the truck from the owner it had bad headliner so he ordered it off ebay but not sure about the price
Not saying that the shitclone wouldn't have won regardless but this race is dumb. The SRT-4 driver didn't even try that hard while the shitclone driver was over there spooling up his turbocharger as much as he could before take off. The SRT should have done alot better than that.

@if4406I don't know Where the fuck are you getting your 1/4 mile time for the srt-4 but it's not anywhere close to 13.8 stock bud. my stock twin turbo mazda rx7 fd3s runs high 13s to low 14s(stock mind you). and when my buddy first bought his srt-4 he wanted to try it against my fd, and I had him beat right off the line about 1 car length. then when I got to 3rd gear I jumped another 2 maybe 3 cars on him. so I'm pretty sure on a 1/4 mile the srt-4 would make a low 15 to high 15 run.

@if4406 Yeah that is true, to me a raping is a full second give or take. But going 13.4 in a stock pickup to me is a lot more impressive than 13.8 in any car. The srt4 is an impressive car in its own way, but realistically it's just another turbo sportcompact in a huge sportcompact crowd. But there will NEVER ever be another truck like the syclone. Not to mention a 0-60 of 4.6sec (if 10+ psi on the launch), is damn epic for a truck with 1991 technology.

Syclones/typhoons are friggin insane!!!! 15 years l8r comes the srt10 and it barely runs with it if the driver is perfect. Anyone can get in a syclone and smoke most anything on the streets!!!!
I`m currently looking for a nice Typhoon. Anyways, just recently I stood at a stop light in Switzerland and a new Camaro RS with some gayass fuck driver and neat girl friend stopped next to me. As the lights turned green he floored it. At that time I just thought, god damn, where`s my Typhoon?????????? I would have spanked that slimo so badly.
unless they spent 20 grand on their "Neon"....it wont keep up with a Syclone.A Syclone will beat any SRT-4,8 or the SRT10 Ram thats factory,even the 6.1 Hemi in any SRT-8 (Magnum,Charger,whatever) in the 1/4. The only Dodge thats faster (as well as WAY more expensive) is a Viper....and the Syclone will beat it off the line easily.
buying a syclone without a turbo is silly....all it would be is a GMC S-15 with ground effects...not to mention if the turbo is removed from that 4.3....itll run like crap....you cant run a turbocharged engine minus the turbo....they set the compression ratio too low...my 4.3 is 205 hp with 10.5 to 1 compression...a syclone 4.3 is 7.5 to 1 compression @ 280 hp...with no turbo...100 hp and it wont run.
if they put a regular 4.3 in it...it has 160-180 hp unless they found a Vortec 4.3 out of a 1994-95 S-10 Blazer with 205 hp (the most powerful n/a years)..Dont expect it to be a rocket....0-60 in 9-10 seconds. If it still had the turbo.... 0-60 in 4.5 - 5.0 seconds. the turbo is the most important part of the idea behind the Syclone/Typhoon...to not have it and just a regular 4.3 is silly....expect to get your doors blown off by all the boy racers.
they do...alagy expects a syclone 4.3 to run without a turbo....it wont.youd have to change the heads,pistons,intake,exhaust and fuel injection...and then all youd have is a normal 4.3 S-15 with AWD and ground effects with Syclone stickers...thats slow as hell. A decent replacement turbo for a Sy/Ty is about 2500 bucks.The turbo 4.3 is integral to it being a Syclone.Anything else is pointless
@netrioter correction u can run a syclone with out a turbo aka the sonoma gt i own one it is a naturally aspirated version for a lot less but even more rare
@zanzibarpat its not the same engine...the syclone dont have the harmonic balance shaft Gen 2 V-6...it has the old generation 1 LB4 4.3. a Sonoma GT has the 195 hp 4300 Vortec L35 Gen 2 (internal balance shaft,timing gears,high flow heads,high rise intake 10/1 compression.etc)...you take the turbo off a 7.5 to 1 compression Sy/Ty and it wont run unless you mill down the heads and change the pistons to get the compression back up.Itll run like crap.trust me
@blacmetal12 its not even that...Sonoma GT has the hot cam and CPI injection off the other W code Vortecs..as well as 10.3 to 1 compresion...a Turbo Sy/Ty has 7.5:1 compression...remove the turbo and you have 90 hp.lol
@phatmatt43 its not the same...and the sy/ty is full time awd,which is a standout feature. you just cant go turbocharge a S10/15 and expect the same thing.The sy-ty uses the old LB4 4.3....theyre not the L35,LF6,LU3,LG3 Vortec 4300 (1992-2005 W code,with the balance shaft,timing gears,different heads) theyre not interchangeable.You just cant strap on a turbo and expect it to run very long,you have to rebuild your engine to lower the compression,etc.

I see no proof in that vid that its a srt4. I wonder y u took the time to check out the syclone engine but not the srt4. perhaps its cuz you raced a 150hp sxt neon. Thats my assumption by the 15 rims in the reflection without the brembo brakes that came standard on the srt4.
At :24 you can see the SRT fog light. SXT Neons didn't have the same body kit. Course, to play devil's advocate, it could also be a kit on a Neon. But I don't care about it, I'm here for the Syclone.
It also could be a 03 r/t. I owned a srt4 and i know they launch and run better than this. The cylcone only has 40 more hp and weighs about 1,000 lbs more. If they are both stock there is no way thats a srt4.
Yeah, my friend has an SRT and hers launches waaaayyyy better than that. Maybe it just sucks. SyTy's are also all wheel drive, so that might've helped. But still, that Neon's shits weak.

really? cause my buddies 04 has 380 hp at the wheel and i own him in my v6 bird till he hits third gear. you cant boost launch an srt4 on the street without breaking traction bad. and if it has any kind of hp itll break loose in the lower gears, seen it happen a million times

He should be able to get traction if he was skilled. Just b/c u can shift fast doesn't mean u can drive. A patient right foot, slowly feeding in throttle as u feel ur cars response would be a skilled driver. Sounds to me like he's got a heavy right foot though. And I 110% agree with u...HP means nothing with traction, but that lack of traction can be tamed with a skilled driver too.
@yurifiero actually the Syclone's 280 hp rating was fabricated by GM...they dyno at 320-350 hp at the wheels. another famous lie was the 1987 Buick GNX...says it was 276,actually made close to 400 hp. The SRT-4 isnt all that off the line....and a boost-launched Sy will destroy any SRT by Chrysler off the line...even the Ram
@netrioter Wrong... Syclone dynoed at 280-290 hp on the wheels hence the reason why GM rated it at 280hp. Which means that the Syclone has around 320-350 hp. If the Syclone had around 350 hp on the wheels, it would be doing high 11s. I own a GNX and it dynoed at 293 hp on the wheels, which means it has around 350 hp as well. SRT-4 is capable of doing high 13s on stock wtih a good driver with all that torque its got for a small 4 banger.
@Pracerdohczx2 they dont rate horsepower at the wheels...its at the output shaft of the engine with all accesories on the engine(NET hp.). Theyve done this since 1972. Before that...horsepower ratings were the engine with no water pump,altenator etc...which is gross hp.SAE dont do it at the wheels because a wheel dyno is extremely inaccurate.But you already know that...right? uh huh
@netrioter How is the power at the wheels extremely inaccurate? Its the power thats putting the wheels after being reduced by the tranny/drivetrain that counts. Dont go by what the output shaft of the engine, thats inaccurate cause then you wont know whats the true power the car is putting after going through the tranny,.
@Pracerdohczx2 its inaccurate because no wheel dyno is the same...theyre notoriously inaccurate...especially in a non climate controlled environment. Thats why the SAE dont use them....not my rules. The SAE rates in a climate controlled booth with just the engine.Temperature and humidity greatly affect horsepower
@netrioter ive tested my Blazer on a wheel dyno and gotten 80-100 hp difference in horsepower from one to another...i only make 215 hp.....how the hellcan i lay rubber with it when the dyno says i get 110 hp at the rear wheel...when the other one says 180 hp. Those portable wheel dynos are just for ballpark estimates...they even say theyre anywhere up to 25% off right on them
@netrioter dynos factor in temperature, altitude and all that jazz as well. the real way to find out how much power your making is to run the 1/4 mile. the track never lies

@MLKJRJR the 05 Trans Am WS-6 with the Hurst package and the 345 hp Firehawk package (the Hursts had it) will do high 12's with a great driver. We all know the 2001+ LS-1's actually made 350 hp instead of 305 hp and with ram air and/or the "Firehawk" setup they actually made 375-400 hp...GM underrates,they have for a long time.The new Z06 Vette is 505 hp...theyve been booth dynoed beyond 550 hp.They are hand made so no engine makes the same power i guess.

Race that syclone from a roll 10 15mph you will proubly win! the only advantage for the syclone is racing from a dead stop. there all wheel drive,boost the turbo it just goes, no tire spin.
That is very doubtful, yes the Syclone is better from a standstill, but it is still very fast even from a rolling start. The srt-4 had no chance from a stop and still would not have had chance starting on a roll.

unless they spent 20 grand on their "Neon"....it wont keep up with a Syclone.A Syclone will beat any SRT-4,8 or the SRT10 Ram thats factory,even the 6.1 Hemi in any SRT-8 (Magnum,Charger,whatever) in the 1/4. The only Dodge thats faster (as well as WAY more expensive) is a Viper....and the Syclone will beat it off the line easily.

buying a syclone without a turbo is silly....all it would be is a GMC S-15 with ground effects...not to mention if the turbo is removed from that 4.3....itll run like crap....you cant run a turbocharged engine minus the turbo....they set the compression ratio too low...my 4.3 is 205 hp with 10.5 to 1 compression...a syclone 4.3 is 7.5 to 1 compression @ 280 hp...with no turbo...100 hp and it wont run.

if they put a regular 4.3 in it...it has 160-180 hp unless they found a Vortec 4.3 out of a 1994-95 S-10 Blazer with 205 hp (the most powerful n/a years)..Dont expect it to be a rocket....0-60 in 9-10 seconds. If it still had the turbo.... 0-60 in 4.5 - 5.0 seconds. the turbo is the most important part of the idea behind the Syclone/Typhoon...to not have it and just a regular 4.3 is silly....expect to get your doors blown off by all the boy racers.

they do...alagy expects a syclone 4.3 to run without a turbo....it wont.youd have to change the heads,pistons,intake,exhaust and fuel injection...and then all youd have is a normal 4.3 S-15 with AWD and ground effects with Syclone stickers...thats slow as hell. A decent replacement turbo for a Sy/Ty is about 2500 bucks.The turbo 4.3 is integral to it being a Syclone.Anything else is pointless

@zanzibarpat its not the same engine...the syclone dont have the harmonic balance shaft Gen 2 V-6...it has the old generation 1 LB4 4.3. a Sonoma GT has the 195 hp 4300 Vortec L35 Gen 2 (internal balance shaft,timing gears,high flow heads,high rise intake 10/1 compression.etc)...you take the turbo off a 7.5 to 1 compression Sy/Ty and it wont run unless you mill down the heads and change the pistons to get the compression back up.Itll run like crap.trust me

a 454 with minor stroking/mods will get 500hp and 550+ torque , just make sure your using oval port heads.

@phatmatt43 its not the same...and the sy/ty is full time awd,which is a standout feature. you just cant go turbocharge a S10/15 and expect the same thing.The sy-ty uses the old LB4 4.3....theyre not the L35,LF6,LU3,LG3 Vortec 4300 (1992-2005 W code,with the balance shaft,timing gears,different heads) theyre not interchangeable.You just cant strap on a turbo and expect it to run very long,you have to rebuild your engine to lower the compression,etc.

Not an SRT-4. Even a stock SRT-4 would spin more than a little chirp in second gear if you shift that way.
And look in the reflection of the Syclone, the wheels are different.
There's also no blow off valve on the Neon.
Yes, the Syclone would beat an SRT-4 Stock for stock, but not by this much.

I see no proof in that vid that its a srt4. I wonder y u took the time to check out the syclone engine but not the srt4. perhaps its cuz you raced a 150hp sxt neon. Thats my assumption by the 15 rims in the reflection without the brembo brakes that came standard on the srt4.

At :24 you can see the SRT fog light. SXT Neons didn't have the same body kit. Course, to play devil's advocate, it could also be a kit on a Neon. But I don't care about it, I'm here for the Syclone.

It also could be a 03 r/t. I owned a srt4 and i know they launch and run better than this. The cylcone only has 40 more hp and weighs about 1,000 lbs more. If they are both stock there is no way thats a srt4.

really? cause my buddies 04 has 380 hp at the wheel and i own him in my v6 bird till he hits third gear. you cant boost launch an srt4 on the street without breaking traction bad. and if it has any kind of hp itll break loose in the lower gears, seen it happen a million times

He should be able to get traction if he was skilled. Just b/c u can shift fast doesn't mean u can drive. A patient right foot, slowly feeding in throttle as u feel ur cars response would be a skilled driver. Sounds to me like he's got a heavy right foot though. And I 110% agree with u...HP means nothing with traction, but that lack of traction can be tamed with a skilled driver too.

@yurifiero actually the Syclone's 280 hp rating was fabricated by GM...they dyno at 320-350 hp at the wheels. another famous lie was the 1987 Buick GNX...says it was 276,actually made close to 400 hp. The SRT-4 isnt all that off the line....and a boost-launched Sy will destroy any SRT by Chrysler off the line...even the Ram

@netrioter Wrong... Syclone dynoed at 280-290 hp on the wheels hence the reason why GM rated it at 280hp. Which means that the Syclone has around 320-350 hp. If the Syclone had around 350 hp on the wheels, it would be doing high 11s. I own a GNX and it dynoed at 293 hp on the wheels, which means it has around 350 hp as well. SRT-4 is capable of doing high 13s on stock wtih a good driver with all that torque its got for a small 4 banger.

Before that...horsepower ratings were the engine with no water pump,altenator etc...which is gross hp.SAE dont do it at the wheels because a wheel dyno is extremely inaccurate.But you already know that...right? uh huh

Dont go by what the output shaft of the engine, thats inaccurate cause then you wont know whats the true power the car is putting after going through the tranny,.

The SAE rates in a climate controlled booth with just the engine.Temperature and humidity greatly affect horsepower

@netrioter ive tested my Blazer on a wheel dyno and gotten 80-100 hp difference in horsepower from one to another...i only make 215 hp.....how the hellcan i lay rubber with it when the dyno says i get 110 hp at the rear wheel...when the other one says 180 hp. Those portable wheel dynos are just for ballpark estimates...they even say theyre anywhere up to 25% off right on them

@MLKJRJR the 05 Trans Am WS-6 with the Hurst package and the 345 hp Firehawk package (the Hursts had it) will do high 12's with a great driver. We all know the 2001+ LS-1's actually made 350 hp instead of 305 hp and with ram air and/or the "Firehawk" setup they actually made 375-400 hp...GM underrates,they have for a long time.The new Z06 Vette is 505 hp...theyve been booth dynoed beyond 550 hp.They are hand made so no engine makes the same power i guess.
