Oh lord. Influence comes from everywhere. Allman Brothers were more of a Blues band. Still Rock. Skynyrd. Called Southern Rock. Still Rock. Too many different genres if you ask me. Music that you like is music that moves you. Who cares who sticks it in what genre. Fans don't drive the music industry anymore. The Industry is driving itself. Just listen to the radio now. You hear the same songs over and over and over no matter what station you listen too.
idk...the allmans are more of a jam/blues band to me, especially when you see when they came out. when you hear skynyrd you HEAR the south...the allmans are more late 60s/jam/blues to me. think of it like this: could you see a confederate flag behind the allmans? definitely not..can you see one behind skynyrd? they did it. i do find it funny how a lot of southern rock bands hate that term...it's all a style of rock n roll. and shooter kicks ass
I agree with both of you...somewhat...but if you mention the term "Southern Rock" to those two bands.....they'd most likely cringe...hehe...."Rock n Roll was BORN in the south....so the term is very redundant....like saying 'Rock, Rock'"...that's a quote from Gregg Allman, himself :-)
