we saw one of these in Santa Fe, N.M. at a restaurant feeding on Petunia flowers. The lady at the restaurant kept insisting it was a hummingbird, but we just knew it was different becuz it had antennaes and looked a bit different. Then found this online. First time to ever see one, it if amazing!!!
Rich Mountain, Arkansas - This is exactly like the one we saw 1st time ever over the weekend - thought it was a teeny tiny hummingbird. It was chowing down at the blooming cherry tree - fabulous!
So! Arrr Mmm. that what this critter is. A hummingbird moth, just saw one in my garden today, and had to fine out what its was, Fantastic yeah. I live in north wales and though these where a warm climate species. WOW so cool. love to see a whole squadron of these little matties.
Now i know what these bugs are call... I saw them in Oita, kyushu (japan) ... 8 years' ago... They were buzzing around by huge gardenia plant outside. I never knew what they were till now... AMAZING !!
yeah, after i shot this video, i put one of the flowers in the palm of my hand and actually had the little guy land on my hand and take a drink...pretty cool.

Really fascinating. I wonder how many people catch a glimpse of such specimens fluttering about, and assume it's just a hummingbird? :P

Awesome! I saw this in my backyard the other day... it looks like a cross between a lobster and a hummingbird...
