  • I'm so grateful to this video. I've just started playing this game.

If anyone is up for a in-depth analysis of pros and cons for the game, I can recommend the following article:

    mizuumi.net/2010/11/10/immaterial-and-missing-power-the-problems-with-iamp/

  • Excellent tutorial for first-timers. Some of these 'loli fighters' are quite deep and enjoyable, I'm finding, once you get the hang of them.

Sure as hell a lot more skill fostering than the likes of so-called "AAA" cookie cutter turds like MK9 and Tekken.

  • Alright, now that I know what I'm doing it's time to get back in there and try to not get completely and utterly crushed by Youmu's freaking clone attack thingy.

  • really its a probelm, the numberpad isnt set as default when i got it D:

    using keypad is hard

  • How do you configure down-left, down-right ect.? because when I go to configure I can only chose the buttons for A,B,C,D,Left,Right,Down,Under.

    any help would be welcome.

  • @koerund Not possible. Down-left is just pressing down and left at the same time.

  • I HAVE A QUESTION SENSEI!! (or anyone who sees this) How do you use portals with Yukari? D:

  • Good video!

I finally learned how to use a spell card.

  • Thanks so much for this tutorial :D Helped so much!

  • lol Suika is such a tard.

  • @MuseHijinks Thats messed up D; xD

  • @Creepyshikoshipunk

Hey, just telling it like it is. :p

  • To anyone watching this, i suggest watching in increments so you remember everything easier. This explains everything really well and in detail but can be overwhelming all at once.

  • This actually helped alot. I was wondering why I couldn't do supers. I like how you have to actually enter a super mode, before you can use it. I definitely want to get into this game. I always felt that it was cooler than 10.5 and 12.3

  • This helped out so much I can't even say thank you enough! The only thing that got on my nerves were your pronunciations of the names. >>;;;

  • I'm glad I found this, very well done tutorial my man! Let's hook up and NetPlay sometime!

  • great tutorial

  • That's not Aya that's Reimu.

  • 5:33 - but you can get point items to speed it up a bit!

  • I can't even get past the menu screen because I have no clue how to select/move around;;;

  • This 18 Minutes make IaMP look complicated... xD

  • Fracking jesus. This game has it's own proof of concept.

  • I still havent gotten my number pad to work D: It's to difficult to work with the directional buttons

  • my probvlem is i cant get the english translations working.

  • Can I download IaMP from gensokyo.org?

  • if i try to run it it says th075.exe has stopped working?!

  • @C0DESUB ah got it fixed now :)

  • I have a problem, I donwloaded the game, everything's fine, except the fact that I can't accept... i mean... I have to wait for the introduction, that's alright, maybe u can't skip it... but the i can move up or down on the menu, but I can't chose any option, and I tried every key... idk what's the problem... someone knows?

  • @ThatDreamAgain I had that problem too. You need to find config and open it to change the controls to something on the keyboard. If you can't open config, right click on it and go to properties, then compatabilty and set it to Windows 2000.

  • If you're curious as to the first song used, it's Kyoto Jazz Massive's "Eclipse."

Does anyone know the other songs being used? I've definitely heard them before.

  • @aldaadla Thanks for your advice but it doesn't seem to be working :/ anyone else know how to make the game controlled by the number pad?

  • My game is set to the directional buttons, how can i set it to use the number pad as it wont work at the moment :/

  • @Joedeluccio I _think_ if you turn off numlock, the numpad gets converted into the directional keys and the diagonals.

  • 241 what...? Can't you use a gamepad?

  • my moving controls are: awsd.

    how i perform your 1379.

and i cant open the config to change controls.

    help me

  • @Rennnix if u didn't get the info already, you go to your config in the IaMP folder and right-click on it then scroll down to properties and click on the compatibility tab and check the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode for" then scroll down to windows 2000 then OK and you should be set am sorry but this is all the information I can give because am still trying to get my config right myself plz PM me once you get a chance if you need anymore help let me kno

  • @ddgreen94 i cant open the config, even how much i click in that, i dont know why

  • @Rennnix did you set the compatibiliey tab to windows 2000 then it should open then try double-clicking on the config it should work

  • This is a great tutorial and all, but it there any way to get the game to recognise the number 3 on my number pad as "crouch forward" or do I have to put up with trying to hit 2 and 6 together?

This one fact has left me in greater pain than any other flaw in the game (if you consider it a flaw).

  • that is the reason why I don't like keypad notations. it's so confusing to newer players. I've been playing fighting games for years and it's much easier to teach someone quarter circle forward+A versus 236+A. I mean, first you need to remember the directions (because most people don't think numbers for directions) then you need to remember the motion. Everyone knows what a quarter circle is.

  • @keikun332 but! good tutorial!

  • make one for 10.5 or 12.3? this ones quite helpful

but they changed it up a little after this

anyway this helps thanks a lot

  • 6B? 2A? 22B? Zone? Poke?

What do all those terms that you use mean?

  • @commode7x He translating the motion into keypad motions.

For example, (look at ur keypad) 6B means foward then B.

  • @1337grenade Okay, but what about zone and poking? There were a whole host of other terms that he used that I couldn't make heads or tails of.

It'd be so helpful if there was a link to some kind of "Fighting Gamer's Glossary" or something.

  • @commode7x Unless your planning to play online (which isn't always a good idea with fighting games cuz you'll get rapped) you dont need to worrie about those since i get by without getting that technical. But if you must then im pretty sure you wont have any trouble finding such a glossary on your own.

Sorry... Wish i could help more...

  • @commode7x zone, poke and the ohers terms r very recorent in fighting games, if u want to learn what they mean look for sites and blogs of these kind of games.

u can learn a lot at "shoryuken" and "dustloop" forums. look also for street fighter and IaMP wiki. u will see that fighting games is a exact science.

  • I tried to use spell cards by doing the down+down/front+front+D combo in the move list.... But it just wont do it no matter what i try. It fucking dashes each time.

Can someone explain to me why it wont work.

  • @1337grenade

Once you do 22D (ddD / down>down>D ), you do 236D ( qcfD / down>forward>D ) to do the spellcard. If you're using keyboard, you'll have to try to make sure that you kinda slide your fingers so that the down and forward are pressing at the same time sometime in between the down>forward motion (hence the 3 in 236).

  • @Shuvora thanx alot but i figured it out. It kinda bolws my mind that ur the only person who ever mentioned the 22D thing. Its basically a hadouken motion since im using a controller and even knowing how to do it, its still hard because you have to be so FUCKING EXACT.

    But thnx anyway ;) !

  • MARISA GOT HER ASS KICKED! :O

  • Thank you so much. I've been having so much trouble with this. Hell, I didn't even know how to declare.

    But now I know.

And knowing is half the battle!

    C-IR-NO!

    ...

    Wait, that's not right.

  • Does this game need to be played with the number pad, or can it be played with just the arrow keys? (My laptop doesn't have a number pad)

  • @LOZFFVII no you can use the arrow keys

  • @KawaiiMangaArtist That's good.

    Thanks!

  • damn i guess i have to take this game from my laptop to my desktop :(

  • My Stupid Questions:

    1. How do you maximize if there is no maximize option available on screen or in the game?

    2. How do you change the key config.?

  • You can't maximize the game. You can fullscreen it with the universal command alt+enter, or you can just configure the game to start fullscreen.

Key config is in config.exe or confige_e.exe (for English patch). You will likely need to set compatibility for Win2000.

  • @BeanyOne

    Thanks! =D

But I found another problem. When on practice mode the puase button doesn't work. It makes the sound but doesn't pause.

  • I don't know about that. If it's pausing elsewhere but not practice, only thing I can think of is you're just supposed to press esc there and nothing else?

  • The girls doesnt make me stay away. You don't think its a an invitation to play this? Come on little girl with supernatural power are fighting...isn't that not great? And if there weren't just girls it wouldn't be Touhou (except Rinnosuke).

  • Shit, I accidentally rated 1 star. Dangit.

  • Very good video, dude. It helped me a lot with understandin' the game. Now all I gotta do is practice, hehe. Nice work!

  • WHOA so much info xD

  • Thank you so so soooo much! I finally get it now! :)

  • this was a really good tut. thanks.

  • Thanks, great tutorial

  • So.... For the number pad thingy...

Does that mean I can't use spell cards since I'm using a laptop? ;X?

  • Really? REALLY? Are you really asking this question? you can use the arrow buttons. it was just an example. or you can get a usb controller.

  • A friend of mine got me hooked on SWR, to which I later picked up the expansion. I've been kinda considering picking up IAMP as well and after watching this, I realize now that it's nearly a completely different game. Still probably gonna pick it up, but boy howdy is it different. Fantastic tutorial.

  • i can't understand how to pull off spellcards T_T

some sort of explaination for that would be helpful plz

  • For spellcards, it's 22D. (Down, Down, D)

    For my setup, it's SSP.

  • You have to "declare" you're spellcard before you can use the spellcard. To do that you do 22D. after that you do 236d (qcf D, fireball D) universal for every character.

  • why aren't touhou games more famous, they're great...IMO they beat most fighting games out there that are more popular

  • because theyre full of little girls which make men who arent confident in their manhood stay away.

  • Lol. How about little boys then? :P

  • hell, little boys stay away from dolls like the plague, what makes you think theyd pick this up?

  • the fact it's an awesome game, heard about not judging a book by it's cover?

still, it bored me in a few hours like every fighting game lol.

  • Oh and I meant men, how about we put in little boys instead, would that hurt their manhood?

  • @kessmalit I'm confident of my manhood still I'd be ashamed if my girlfriend saw me playing this game hahaha

I'm giving it a try tho, the system is pretty cool. I wish they had not chibi gay characters but w/e, i've already given up.

  • @kessmalit nah,its because real men prefer to play shmups with jets over loli girls.

  • @WiShOfPain Well, Touhou isn't about fighting at all. There're only two games in this franchise. Personally I like shooters much better.

  • @elfpeter no, 3 games

  • Lol, Touhou is one of the most popular Doujin series. if you're asking why isn't being published by any large company, it's because it's doujin. They're japan's indie games.

  • this guy is certainly a pro and he can rape me easily

tony276869147=at=hotmail=dot=com add me if u want to train with me

  • "in this game you cant die from chip."

    thank you!!!

  • thanks for the video dude. I'm still learning it and yeah it is a very complex game.

  • To those, who want to download this video and other videos from youtube.

There are a lot of sites, where you put in URL of the page with wanted video & download it.

    just google it (nyoroon~).

    I use vidmaza. com

or videosaver. ru (btw, videosaver can be used not only for youtube)

Sorry,if I made some grammatical mistakes

  • How can I use special moves with a keyboard?

  • Practice. Some of the best IaMP players are keyboard users. Some of us use pads, a few of us use sticks, but there are also very good keyboard users.

  • I get it now. IaMP on my PC is rly slow and lags. I was pressing too fast for the game to read. xD

  • Heh, you're absolutely right. I'm a keyboard user, myself... but I haven't really played 7.5 like that.

I ended up startiting out with 10.5, into 12.3. My friends and I have been tearing it up, ever since.

I also started up a Touhou Community called the Scarlet Union. Check it out if you get the chance~

But yeah, as I like to call it, IaMP is Touhou's "melee" and SWR/UNL are Brawl. lolz

  • Comment removed

  • Which is newer Touhou 10.5 or this?

  • 10.5.

But as a fighting game, IaMP is better.

  • Anyone know what's the background music?

  • ahh.. this is gonna take me awhile.

  • Awesome Mechanics accompanied with Great tutorial!!

    U the man!!!

  • Thanks for the video, very helpful!

  • hmm my movement keys seems to be "G,Y,J and N" :S how do i fix? uses laptop...

  • change the controls in the config application/program it should be in the folder with IaMP

  • I'm playing on a keybord without numpad.

    How would I do diagnals?

  • Press two directional buttons at once...

  • Im having a few troubles with this game, like i cant get the english translated version...and when i do story mode i only get 3 stages or so...any help please?

  • I think you have the demo version, sux2bu

  • Already been fixed, sux2bu~

  • can anyone plz send me a link on where to download it plz

  • WAAAAAAH!!! i missed one little part of it and then i was uterly confused! and then i went back and mised the part again! 3 times! what the hell is "2c" and "5a"?! is it how many times you press the button?!

  • 2c, 5a, etc, means what direction you use for command normals i think. So, if you wanted to do 2A, with my config(or the normal Touhou config), you would press Down+Z. In the config shown here, its 2(on the numpad)+A.

  • ...You were clearly not paying attention. at the VERY beginning of the video, it explains that the numbers are directions on a numberpad, and that ABC and D are button inputs. Pay attention and watch the video again.

  • all these numbers are confusing i just use the arrow keys

  • Can't ANYONE pronounce japanese names correctly?! It's NEVER supposed to be pronounced as if they're Spanish or Italian (Ex. SaKUya = Wrong; SAkuya = Correct).

  • Don't be a hardass. He's not japanese. So naturally he doesn't necessarily know, and he has no responsibility to know, since you can understand him anyways.

  • Melee is not a Japanese word.

  • holy shit, patch owned yuyuko in the begining,

and also, i can only se left right up and down on my config.... =(

  • Yeah... i still don't know how to achieve blocking though :)

  • @Kitsune557 moving away from your oponent should auto block.

  • @1337grenade It's been almost a year and I'm surprised someone answered my question. Thank you!

  • @Kitsune557 No problem. If u like IaMP you should like the other touhou fighting games. The spell card system is MUCH simpler in those.

    Happy to help! XD

  • I cried when i saw Bellreisa was involved in this.

  • that ZUN guy is the best solo game programmer I've ever known.

  • That really helped out a lot, since I just started today and I didn't know what the hell to do stuff in some combo moves, so I searched for a tutorial and I found yours, and now I understand how to do stuff now, so thanks!

  • Using the download from the link in the description, the game opens up white as if it froze.

Might I be doing something wrong?

  • how can you set the butoon layout?

  • -_-' I can't even open the game.

  • absolutely flawless.

i had completely written this game off as a horrible button mashing fighting game aimed at school girls .

and it doesn't look to be broken like MvC2, well nothing can be that broken, but i thought i would be underdeveloped in terms of balance.

    bravo, you have educated me.

  • @Etherone1 no offense, but saying MVC2 is broken means you haven't been educated about that game either. :( but it's okay. most people write it off as broken. It's really not lol. It's just somthing that most people wont' excell at because it's difficult to perform against strong players

  • 5 Stars *****

Professional, well presented, and scary. As someone who has never been to good at fighting games in general, all this technical speak is bewildering. I've never even considered the cancelling relations in the attacks. Just kind of press the button that comes to mind and hope it works. Against my norm competition I still win 90% of the time though.

The video is a credit to the creator game. I've seen too many put IaMP/SWR down because they don't understand its differences.

  • Is there a english translation of the game?

  • There's an English patch available. Check the IaMP wiki, the URL is in the video description...

  • Dang, if only this game was just released on xbox live arcade or sold commercially it could get some where.

  • It already is somewhere.

    Non-mainstream, where people like it.

  • Touche, guess I just prefer bigger communities.

  • I can understand where you come from, but I think this game can be too complex for people at times. xP

I didn't mean to put down your comment at all.

  • the only buttons that work for me on the keyboard are Z, X, and C. (a, b, and c?) where is D when you first download?

  • D is set to be the 'A' key by default.

  • how do you do a warp step, I've seen Sakuya do it several times

  • 421A or 421B or 421C does the warp step. A brings you backward, B brings you forward, and C brings you forward a lot.

  • Thank you! btw, does this apply to all characters?

  • Not to all, and the input is different for each character, though a few characters have a warping attack. Reimu has one, I think Yukari has one, Remilia has a very fast jump attack that might as well be a warp. There may be others, but I play mostly Marisa, so all I can say for sure is that she doesn't have this kind of attack.

While you are playing, press the pause button. You will see a list of your character's special moves. If you have a warp, it will probably be one of these.

  • How do I get this game to work...I don't understand =( Looks like fun though

  • Fuck you numpad

  • my config doesnt work and neither does the score dat file on my th075_t2 game

  • right click with mosue on config > Propreaties > compatibility > 98 windows / XP Windows

    some of those will work

  • I learned the game and beat suika with patchouli without the tutorial, and now I see where I was going wrong. This tutorial is awesome :)

  • Could someone tell me how to PAUSE the game?

  • ... Push the 'pause' button.

  • and what may that PAUSE button be -_-...

  • Whatever it's configured to be. I believe the default is space, but use config.exe to make it what you want.

  • Holy fucking fast reply and thank yew.

  • how come whenever i open config, it doesn't do anything? i double click, & nothing happens...also, my file's called "config" (*and "config_e" for english, i'm assuming), so r they the same things u meantioned earlier? how do i open up the config application?

  • From the IaMP Wiki (iamp . mizuumi . net):

    "My config.exe file doesn't work.

If you are running Windows XP, right-click config.exe, select Properties, click the Compatibility tab, check the "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" box, and select Windows 2000. "

  • omg, tyvm ^^ i was getting so tired of the defaults, but again, ty. rly apreciate it

  • What's the music on the background?

  • Wait im suppose to burn it on a C.D?

  • You don't have to, but if you don't want to go downloading it again (assuming you're going to not pay for it to get it), then it's nice to have it on a CD.

  • nvm i know how to use a bomb but what is the "3"control on a laptop keyboard

  • Three is just down and forward held together.

  • i don't get how to use bombs or specials could someone help me?

  • When i click Config it doesn't open, why?

  • Set compatibility to win2000

  • Hey, i download it and it doesn't work LOL. mind if yu have a tutorial? or instructions step by step. The game closes before going on the menu.

  • Thanks a lot! This tutorial is great! I'll practice harder and challenge other players by netplay

  • when i start my game up i get 2 input errors...and NONE of the buttons work..it just stays at the main menu.

anyone know how to fix this?

  • did you configure your buttons with the config executable? mayube you have the same key for two different things...

  • didn't think about that..thanks! :D

  • Where can I download the game? I've been wanting to play it for quite some time now.

  • um, whats happening here?I press b and he hear a sound and after a few times pressing it A becomes a projective attack as well
