You will have to type SETUP then you should be able to find a sound blaster opinion. DOSBox use your game's sound blaster program, so use Sound Blaster 16. Be sure you test the sound before you can play game! I hope i help anything.
00bean00 is spot on - you could really get in to the game's atmosphere - because of the interesting story, and the music and sound effects were a massive part of this. I remember guiding my mate through the sewer level over the phone from memory....when I get time I am going to play through it again on the PS3, but the PS1 emulation is crap on it!!
There are 2 secret areas in this level, they require jumping off the top floor outside. One looks like a cave, the other is more of a hidden base. Never knew what the purpose of those goggles where, though you're not supposed to have them until level 3.
I miss this game, anyone know where i can download it and some kind of windows launcher for it kinda like Zdoom for the doom games? i feel like playing this now
Go to the DOSBox main page and click on frontends. Using a frontend making using DOSBox a doddle! I use D-Fend Reloaded and it's just a matter of browsing to the install folder and a couple clicks! You can even use D-Fend to install the game from the CD so the whole process is 'within DOS'.
i used to use the arrow keys as turn left/right move up back, And the mouse to look left and right, clicking right click enabled strafe.... with the mouse you could move super fast and dodge most shots :)
I think the reason they're more memorable and satisfying is the effort and money the developers put into strong storytelling, composing good music, and the overall concept of the game.
if doom wasn't release that game never born.... so i think doom is the true classic... and mother of every fps...

What hell you talk about engine? It didn't MATTER! It is not important to say about Doom's and this game's engine.

I used to have lots of fun playing this game despite the fact that I didn't get the sound working back then. Ah, the things I have missed.

And, oh yes, "strong storytelling" means:
-good writing
-strong characterization
-strong plots
