  • @gjricks1 Yes that was Bilal...They were doing work together under the name Soul Quarians...If you go to the Discography section on the soulquarian wiki page, it will give you a lot of joints to listen to. Common, D'Angelo, ?ueslove, Rafael Saadiq and JDilla were also members. Enjoy...and I apologize if you knew this stuff already

  • This song always gets me together...Letting go of baggage be it literall or metaphorical is deep!!! Cause we all got pain from the past but we got to let it go because it becomes baggage/dead weight...We must remove the curse of Sisyphus.

  • <3 beautiful

  • THE best black soul singer in the universe. accept no phonies.

  • @ReggaeMusic3 i call for our people to refer to themselves with self respect, just as our forefathers did so long ago. Yet, you call ME ignorant? so in your world you refer to yourself and your loved ones as "n*ggers? if you mean to defend demeaning your OWN people with this word, you take the side of racism so you are not only ignorant to what you are doing, you are disgrace.

  • great voice

  • Bilal on background back there...

  • @snaredrum7573 i didn't see him thats my brother in song...GOD Bless his Vocals

  • i love that song ...there is noone like her.."))

  • Kewl. ;-)

  • glad she replaced "n*ggas" with "people". it makes the song much better to me

  • @subtletiger it's just a word, not even, it's just a sound. censorship should be illegal. artists never unintentionally put something in a song. you just gotta learn to "let go" like she says. so she said nigga, didn't hurt anybody, so why does anyone care.

  • by the way, erykah badu is a goddess

  • @Dylanshreds1 "Why does anyone care?" Well, if you ask to ask, you'll never understand. And if you'll never understand, it's a waste of time to try to make you understand. To each his own.

  • @subtletiger you're only hurting yourself by holding on to the plex of the past

  • @Dylanshreds1 What you call "hurt" I call "self respect", what you call the "a sound" I call a "vulgarity".

  • @subtletiger I like "n*ggas". She tells it like it is. The truth.

  • @subtletiger Well she wrote the song about her situation in life and other Black women, so nigga's was appropiate, since the only mane she deals with are brothas'! However, she was singing at a different venue, so obviously she wanted all women whatever race of men they choose, or whatever problems they're dealing with to pack light, drop those extra bags, lol!

  • @subtletiger not me she tells the truth like it is. She only did it because it was on TV. It would have been bleeped anyway. Stupid censors. We all have to be politically correct. Instead of being true like Erykah.

  • @subtletiger that's stupid. niggas was more genuine

  • @skeeterart Genuine? So you're saying the n-word is more of genuine way to describe a black man? You sir, can eat a dick.

  • @subtletiger that's not what he's saying. it's more genuine because it's her dialect.

  • @subtletiger but you see it's not about "people" in general, it's clearly about a black girl, so it actually gives the song personality. Replacing "niggas" with "people" is like censoring hip-hop songs. besides, music and art in general is no place to be politically correct. if it were, we wouldn't even have half of the art we have today

  • @paraskiv If people are paying to see hip hop artists, then yes censorship is not appreciated, but if the lyrics are disrespectful to a large percentage of people that are from your culture but of a different generation, then censoring is proper whether it be art, politics, whatever.

  • @subtletiger she should of said "fellas"...as a writer im prolly thinkin she wanted u to know shes talkin about a dude...so she used niggaz...

  • she is my ideal natural black lady.

  • @mtnlogistics have u seen her body?

  • That is Bilal on background vocals. He is serious too.

  • I Love The Guitar Rip....Much respect....one and only

  • Look at my sister! Girl! I wish you would come back to perform! Love the music!

  • SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Goddess

  • beautifull

  • Is that mah man bilal? I know my ipod is tired of playin both of these artists!

  • Her hat would look so ugly on any other person but on her its so beautiful

  • yes that is so true..I was thinking the same thing..I think the hat is a metaphor for the term 'bag lady'.. meaning that we as women ( mostly black women) have so much bagage.. an how we need to let it go..

  • I know there's a million different ways of expression and that there's room for all of them. However, I've got to say that I prefer looking at Erykah standing still and singing a song with a strong message to a bunch lil' girls shaking their booties and singing about the club. I'm glad she has a platform for her artistry.

  • thank you 4 posting. This Lady is deeper than the ocean....I love her so much!

  • this song has gotten me thru soe tough times

  • i get different vibes from this song every time i hear it- live, radio, cd. all goooooood vibes

  • Damn I miss Erykah!! She need to drop somethin' new real soon!!

  • i saw her on North Sea Jazz yesterday, so there must be new stuff..

  • what kind of message has this song?

  • Im lazy so I'll just copy/paste it from wikipedia

"The song is about uplifting women who are carrying a "baggage" in a relationship. It's used a a metaphor to a "bag lady" walking down the street. In the end of the song she tells these women to "let it go" What about the garbage bag lady? Let it go let it go let it go let it go..."

  • it's deep when you decipher it. heard this song 50 millions times, but then one day in my car listening to it i just started crying cuz i realized how much baggage i was carrying.

  • like she says..... let it go let it go let it go!!!

All the drama that u be carring withcha! draging all them problems to ppls life... all them gon get in your and his/her way..

LET IT GO LET IT GO LET IT GO!!!!

  • ohh thank u all now i really understand the song :D
