Everytime I heard this song it is in my ear for all the day... I can't get it away - this song is so special, it always remembers me of the "Golden 1920s"
I think 1973-1980 was the golden era. 1991 was the best album since the golden ear. But unfortunately mercury passed away. It weird how some of his lovers survived Hiv infections , while he died. I think Queen got lazy in 1980s. They were more interested in enjoying their fruits of hard work. Only when they had little time left for Freddie did they produce a stellar album.
You also have to understand that they were on the road for many years, and it's only natural to take some time off to clear your head and come back with new and better ideas. Not to mention spend more time with your family. I don't see it that they were lazy. I see it as something totally natural. And their music in the 80's was good too. People are too much stuck up on the fact that they changed their style a bit...
Id be inclined to agree in a lot of respects. But...what the 80's produced was a Queen who were the ultimate hard rock band. Freddie really came out (no pun intended) as a frontman whereas in the 70's he was primarily just an excellent singer. Additionally, they had to keep up with the times in order to survive. Prog just wasnt marketable during the 80's. But I agree how its funny that most bands remember Queen as the accessible rock and less as the experimentalists. So many neglected gems.

that "sound" from 00:52 - 01:20 they said at a documentary that it was Roger and Freddie that came up with it and then in the studio it was so compicated to explain... I dont really remember, but something like that was it...
Yes Sampa94 Freddie and Roger did make the trombone sounds and stuff, I think that that is so freaking cool and during the tap dance part they put thimbles on their fingers to make tap dancing noises!
Actually, the 'instruments' in that part are not actually instruments, they're Freddie and Roger imitating instruments! Also, in this song is Roger Taylor's highest note ever in a Queen song, a C5. Apparently.
It has strong rock-operatta and vaudeville influences, typical of some Queen songs.I love this song,Queen is the best band and are able to encompass many styles, just listen to "A Night At The Opera",the best album ever.Love "Seaside Rendezvous",it sounds like something from the 1920's.
A Night at the Opera is one of the greatest albums ever made Bohemian Rhapsody, Love of my Life, Seaside Rendezvous, `39, Death on two Legs, You`re my Best Friend... all in one album AMAZING!! Queen = The greatest Rock band in history
The death of Freddie Mercury = The greatest tragedy in Rock history damn... imagine the albums QUENN could have come up with in 16 years...
you say you'd have to tell your daddy if you can...

Is this song influenced by ragtime music? It kind of reminds me of the style of music.

Seems like it.
Just like Lazing on A Sunday Afternoon.
There's no way you can hate ragtime though, its so feelgood its almost impossible to hate it.

This song sounds very happy, a gift from the god of hard rock band to the listeners.
Roger did the best with this song, with all his trumpets, his high pitch, freddie too.
