I have this CD, and I just always listen it with such a concentration, that I feel every single thing what they emphasize!!!!!!!! THIS RECORDING IS FABULOUS !!
Rattle is a decent Bruckner conductor, but I don't think he has this music quite under his grips the way Gunter Wand or Riccardo Chailly do. It seems that he's still learning about it and trying to adopt his own philosophy behind it.
That said, an interesting sidenote about Bruckner's 4th is that it was the only symphony to receive a title other than a number, which the 4th was named the "Romantic."
@bluemonk82 yes, i totally agree my favorite is the Wand recordings with the BPO of 4,7 and Chailly with RCO of 6, 9 just amazing beyond anything else... anyone who loves Bruckner must listen to these

Je reviens souvent sur ce vidéo pour les 24 premières secondes ... et aussi pour les analyses de S. Rattle.

I disagree. A great musician, but he's not at all a musicologist.

For such a sour mug,Bruckner sure knew how to appease the God/s with adoration.

I think he did a great job on the Bruckner. He really knows how to bring those exciting chords out.
