However, if you listen to the gaber stuff from Smojphace, it is sort of similar to this, or some of his other sort of "jokey" tracks even. I still just don't feel like this is up to par. The vocal samples at the end aren't timed right. The sounds are cool but not balanced and powerful enough.

Regardless, I did enjoy listening to this.

Not even being a fanboy or anything, there are plenty of AFX/aphex tracks I don't care for. However, you people obviously have no concept of Richards sound/technical style, because something like this isn't that hard to throw together with free vst plugins and what not. Just sounds like a bunch of shitty samples used with the free Glitch vst, maybe some bit crunching and a little chopping and slicing of the audio. Add some random poly synth vsts and a crappy drum machine, voila.

@itanimullitenretni I know Aphex Twin very well and I am aware that this is very different in style to his other stuff and is therefore probably not his, hence me saying I don't care if it is him or not. This track is still sick.

And frankly the way you described the production of the track is pretty standard, and the samples aren't shitty. Yes, producing music has got easier with DAWs, but whether that means that tracks are worth less is quite a big and difficult question.

That's cool, and I respect that man. I've been MOD tracking since I was 12 years old, and have been working on the production of my tracks for some time. Tweaking EQ, adjusting balances and volumes to get it JUST right, selecting the perfect instruments. Adjusting the cutoff and resoncance until it's just right, trying to get the pads to cut through the track like butter. It is VERY difficult to get it just right.

What I love about Aphex, is that in almost every track of his I've heard, he jams in so many sounds in such away that sound like a muddied horrible produced track if anybody else tried to do it. But everything still sounds beautiful. (Omgyjya Switch7, Ziggomatic, Deathfuck come to mind, but many others of coarse). This just sounds thin to me, and for how little is going on, I jsut don't buy it. I was expecting a crazy breakbeat with sequencing craziness.

It occurred to me at one point to post my own tracks on youtube and say they were by the Tuss so that I could get a lot of views and exposure to my music by way of deception, but then I realized that the attention would only be short-lived and that once the the deception was exposed, I would be thought of as a fraud and cheat, regardless of how good my music might be.
