Thanks for posting these! It was a fun trip down memory lane. I rented this back in the NES days (I'm 32) and it was a trip to watch it again, in 2011. Good old NES, such an icon. Mine still works to this day, it's an amazingly resilient piece of hardware. I somehow doubt my PS3/360 will still work 25 years from now.
i also want to point out, if they are so good, why couldnt they perform the tricks ON THE SPOT?! when i was 4 i could do better than that. Just...plain....sad.
In order to break into the market and seperate the NES from the failed consoles of Atari, Nintendo used defective material in creating the NES's connector pins and the ZIF Connector, both of which can easily break and corrode with repeated insertion and removal of cartridges. Apparently Game Genies could damage the NES's connector pins and ZIF so badly that it wouldn't work without a game genie present
The Top Loading NES is more reliable then the gray box but the Game Genie required a special adapter to fit into the new deck or it ran the risk of getting jammed in the cartridge slot
The best games were back then. Now its all about graphics , not to mention theres WAY too much rpg's and fps's on the market today , its ridiculous. Thats why i dont buy new-gen consoles , i stick to my good old stuff.
Not to beat a dead horse, but you can find some really quality game even now, even if I find myself wholly disappointed in one game, there's usually another one that blows me away. Trackmania and Smash Brothers and things like that.
Though lately, I find myself gravitating to independent games. More and more are being made and their quality seems to jump exponentially.
I think games could be great right now, but it's clear most developers lack focus.
Not quite. Back in the day, they were just a "tad" better. Their was even cartoons of the games and the games themselves weren't as complicated and weren't gimmicky. I'd play a game of SMB3 over Halo anyday. You must have cock up your ass.
wow, i feel sorry for anyone who were waiting to see the sneak preview for taboo. it not even a game. it's a shabby fortunetelling game whose cards make no sense unless you're into that kind of stuff

I maybe wrong about this but in addition to ruining your cartridges, that mess up your save trick, also can destroy your NES as well.

My friend broke his doing something like that, but he was using a game genie too, so I don't know exactly.

I was not aware of that. I guess the childhood fear of destroying my NES by using Galoob's Game Genie wasn't so irrational after all.

@snakes3425 I never had issues with this. It was usually because the pins were dirty. They clean pretty well.

Donn went on to work on a number of games for a variety of companies and is currently employed at TDK mediactive.
Jim - I dunno.
Shane may or may not be in a band.

Who is that dork at minute 7:45? What did he see? I think he just saw a mirror after getting that totally rad haircut :D

I love the ending, especally when the pre-recorded Double Dragon actually rewinds when the camera is still shooting.
snakes3425 3 years ago
I love the part where Donn explains in detail the best way to corrupt your saves and damage your cartridges.
Why didn't they leave those segments in the main video?

That has got to be the dumbest Stratagy-Hint-Trick ever.
snakes3425 3 years ago
Can I enquire who in their right mind would even use that trick? Also who's the brainless idiot that came up with that tirck in the first place?

you got the worst ending on castlevania 2, should have used the golden knife on drac; kills much faster.

Thanks for the SUPER TIP!
One day, you could become a member of the U.S. National video-game team too!

That password doesn't even give you -everything-, despite what they said [one of the knives are missing]. Now what's up with that?
