  • I've listened to this song so many times, and its never gotten old!

  • Yes, I can listen to this over and over. Reminds of AK!! Thanks!!

  • ghfj gfg fgfl k gh dfdj gkfgfj gf gkf ghg fgjfg ghfg;hlgh'; fg

  • AMAZING VERSION. OFCOURSE DREAM ACADEMY WAS GREAT AND THE ORIGINAL BUT THIS NEVER GETS OLD!!!!

  • if this song was on all day ,i dont think i would change the station

  • I love this group,.but this song is only great by Dream Academy. They made it feel as if something within you was crying out for times long lost. This version is way too honky tonk.

  • The original is definitely better but this is still good.

  • I wonder if these artists know who the lyrics are referencing. IMO, everybody should. Google Nick Drake. Thank me later :)

  • THIS IS REALLY GOOD...

  • Sugarland does a decent job, but can't compete with Dream Academy's original. Sorry...

  • @icspi1970 You must be high....

  • @jasonmmm1 Nope. No drugs here. You must be a homo.

  • @icspi1970 LOL, good one, really original.

  • @icspi1970 Nothing can beat the original but this is very good..

  • Jennifer nettles is not Chinese.

  • Beautiful cover. Nicely done. And to sum up a lot of confusion about the origins of the song, it was written by the Dream Academy consisting of Nick Laird-Clowes, Gilbert Gabriel, and Kate St. John as an elegy (a mournful, melancholic or plaintive poem, especially a funeral song or a lament for the dead) for singer/songwriter Nick Drake. Beautiful Song.

  • @gwenny3080 holy cats I LOVE Nick Drake. I'm REALLY gonna have to Investigate Dream Academy, now. It's one of those haunting old songs of my childhood

  • thumbs up for this song having a lot of meaning to you, especially if you lived your life in a northern town :)

  • @summerlovingxo1 Gotta love living in the subarctic/Northern Canada, w/e :D

  • This song gives me goosebumps.

  • Great song. Great Artists. Great harmony.

  • Tingles on neck time! What a MONSTER tune! :D

  • I'm glad to get to sing this tonight with T MInus 5 :) They are amazing :D

  • Great tune!

  • Sorry, but they've just killed a beautifull song......... FFS

  • @Jarrehea

Really? Only what you say matters? Song has been around a long time, it's 2 country bands singing a song. Be specific.

  • @marktrepanier Fuck off

  • @FreeRange1234 What's wrong, bitch? Does the truth hurt? Fucking faggot.

  • FREEKIN' AWESOME! No better video on YouTube!!!

  • @GeeeKay except maybe the original, by the Dream Academy :3

  • i wanna know who sings what, im so confused :(

  • nice song

  • they totally ruined the harmony of the chorus

  • @lilnug1 You have zero credibility.

  • no,, he is a total douchebag...

  • This is nowhere near as good as the original 80s version!!

  • @TimmyGal coujldn't be more right.

  • whoever the guy is at1:25 is such a redneck douchebag... maybe God allowed the stadium to collapse on these guys because they do such a disservice to good music...

  • @flycentro123 notice he gets all the cheers matey, people like him :-)

  • @grahamreilly1 people clapped for Milli Vanilli too,, whats your point? this concert was in West Virginia,, enough said...

  • @flycentro123 my point is that what you like and what others like is not always the same thing...and you need to learn to accept it. publicly calling someone a 'redneck douchbag' because you personally don't happen to like him isn't really the way forward. think about it....

  • @flycentro123

Seriously, girls....settle down. Way too all over the place, take your personal issues elsewhere. Girl up, name-calling, invoking God; really? Poster has no clue of life, obviously, just put all the crap in one bag. Seriously. Break it down. Redneck douchebag (?). God allowed (?) Disservice to good music (?). Yikes. Just throw all in about which one has no clue....

  • All they are doing is having fun singing a classic song, they're not trying to replace it. think of it as kareoke..

  • @CoPexsNipeZz

Yeah, exactly. People don't sing old songs so people can compare them. It's not a competition.

  • Much better than the original, has more soul and captures the spirit better. Just because its about a brittish town doesnt mean it doesnt apply to any other post war town.

  • Um its just a song, just enjoy the music

  • I stand by my comments. Yes, you can draw a loose comparison to life in a northern eastern state...Penn, WVA comes to mind with the coal mines. But it was more than that. And certainly Miss Sugraland never heard of any of that. My point has been, and will be, when music is written beacuse of hardship and strife give it respect and due. OH and BTW.....I MISS YOU BUCKLEY'S ANGEL!

  • @robandrene I think Americans who live in the South know a little bit about having their factories shut down and holding on to their way of life with all they have. We're kind of known for it. Most of our country bands have touched on the subject a time or two.

  • Uhm, not to suggest you are just the slightest bit uninformed, but the genre of music they play has nothing to do with what they have experienced or understand, and neither does their nationality. Do you really think lack of sympathy from the government is limited tot he UK? Have you read a news paper in the last- say- 12 years? Look around the world a bit!

  • If you don't like it, don't watch it. Otherwise, enjoy the music please.

  • These idiots have no idea what a life in a northern town in England is like....

  • @robandrene What a stupid thing to say!

  • justin beiber rules

  • Nice song, get rid of the stupid ad at the top. That sucks a big one.

  • Outstanding. I never tire of listening to this. Thanks for continuing to have it available

  • Ummm this was NOT done on Sept 3 2011.....its my b-day on Jul 10 2011......am I in a time warp?

  • Buckley's angel visit me!

  • Does a country band even know what the meaning of this song is about?!?!!?

Im a yank living in the north and still cant appreciate the meaning of this song, let alone these guys.

  • @alternageek What makes you think they don't get it?

  • Comment removed

  • @VABkWrm Because theyre American and country pop singers? Because they never grew up in the North of England and lived through post-war Britain? Because they never saw communities collapse because of a government who didnt care??

  • God awful remake. I'm usually more open minded to remakes but they just don't "get" the song at all. It's like ear rape.

  • I will never tire of this, love all of them, great harmony and lyrics.

  • This song Never gets old. I could listen to this all day specially The Dream Academy's version. Reminds me of the great times in my life.

  • this song is great and after 24 years the remake is just as good as the original....

  • it is Hey ma ma ma ma and this is a reallygoo song

  • What the fuuuuuck - are you sayyyyying? (Sung during the "hey nananana" part. :p,

  • I absolutely loved the Dream Academy original, but I simply adore this one more and more every time I hear it. The original was an 80s classic, and couldn't belong to any other time. You hear it, and you think of the 80s. This is different. This is timeless. The vocal harmonies are stunning. Sure, it has lost some of the link to the socioeconomic conditions that it was born from, but don't hold that against it - it's a different version of the song, for a different time, a different context.

  • folks dont like their memories messed around with...

the orginal was a stunning evocation of Britishness `The Beatles` and our bad winter of 63, set Margaret Thatchers bleak Britain , filmed in a real Northern Town sung by people who actually experienced it. Given our economic state, theirgibal would be agood rerelease this coming winter...

  • Good, but not a patch on the Dream Academy original

  • This was such a favorite song when I was a kid- amazing job!

  • I heard Jeremy Vine interview Sugarland on BBC Radio 2 today, culminating in a live acoustic performance of this. I pulled over to listen, quite awestruck by what I heard. Very innovative adaptation of an already good song.

  • SWEET!!!!

  • @lostincider You read my mind. I used to be in a band with my brother & cousins. There were six of us in the band with four lead vocalists. I could harmonize well with my bro and my cousin could harmonize well with her bro. In fact, I could harmonize well with the other three, but if we ever attempted to do a four-part, it would sound just like this.

  • A pretty good cover but when you cover somebody else's song then you need to give props to the group you covered. They FAILED to do so! That is total disrespect to the Dream Academy

  • i understand why people who were around back in the 80's may prefer the dream academy version, but i can't comprehend why anyone under the age of 30 would pick the 80's version over sugarland's take.

  • Only song I like by them, epic.

  • this is a great remake of a classic!!!

  • What garbage. The original is a classic this is trash. Just my opinion.

  • I can do without the tacky advertisement ('get the ringtone"...) on top, but I am a HUGE Dream Academy fan, I think this is a great 'tip of the hat' to the original... just "country-fied" =)

  • I think it's awesome :)

  • a great song !

  • A learned, measured response...and I can argue with exactly none of it :)

The point, to my untrained ears, is that this many voices sound more like the community that these events happened to than a chorus of male voices, imho.

  • An adequate remake, you can recognize the tune. Version was antiseptic and showy with good voices but more an exercise in marketing than real collaboration. It is really pointless, and sounds disjointed, to have this many distinct voices shoved into one song.

I think Dream Academy's version had deeper and more dramatic base and more marked transitions and contrast, despite having fewer instruments / voices. As a pop song composition it made more sense.

  • I LOVED the original, they did an AWESOME job, and BLEW the original out of the water!!

  • They should have left this song alone. They ruined it in my opinion.

  • @alycsch1515 Matter of opinion, I suppose.....Dream Academy's version sounds like the eunuchs at court in some awful 50's movie....but that's just my opinion ;-)

  • i remember listening to this song as my dad took me to see RETURN OF THE JEDI

  • i lovee this song so much. i think it is so good.

  • I'm not a country fan, but this is a very good remake. Good job Sugarland!

  • i love this song one of the best songs of all time over all just a great song

  • jake owens is beautiful. product of the 80's here, use to the pop version. But, I like this also

  • can you imagine being at a Live show with Sugarland and Lady Antebellum ? That would be CLASSIC!! and just might bump THE Outfield opening for Journey as my fav concert ever :P

  • wow.. love this song... had a chance to sing this in choir.. ever since this i loved this song more and more

  • The first guy who sang has a beautiful voice! He could sing ANYTHING.

  • @AliJent44 actually he couldn`t myou are getting carried away don`t be silly.

  • @arrghgarry Oh I'm sorry (: I'll try.

  • @AliJent44 IO actually thought the 2nd guy with the deeeper voice was good

I only clicked on to this because I noticed the court case ,they must have been happy to pay the 14 mill.

  • Awsome remake of a great song!!

  • first time i listened to the sugarland version and thin hey done a great version of a classic song

  • this song just gives me goosebumps on top of my goosebumps! I LOVE IT!

  • @Emy1053 ... SO TRUE! Loved this song since I was a kid! Glad to see a Fantastic remake! Couldn't have been re-done any better! Gratz to Sugarland and Little Big Town!
