Probably MSS amma came the closest one can get to God. Not because she reached Gods but Gods came running down to listen to her. I think even Gods were jealous of her. The world will miss you till its death, MSS. You are irreplaceable.
you're going to have to take it up with the billion some people in india who disagree with you. of course everyone one is entitled to their own opinion. even if they ARE completely wrong.
@prs2106 look up Kurai Onrum Illai in wikipedia, they have a english translation for it. This song was written by Rajaji, who was former governor general of India.
I am moved to tears everytime I hear this song. I watched the video for the first time and cried my heart out. This song in my opinion is the purest form of prayer and devotion to god, it does matter who the god is. MSS bring out the real spirit and the meaning of the lyrics. Words fail me when I try to describe her sincere expression. MSS has reinforced my belief in God.
MS Subbhalaxmi is a goddess and I listen to her bhajans daily and I feel transcendental bliss, ANANDA meditating on the LOTUS FEET OF LORD SRI VISHNU.
very excellent voice, no one can sing like this, i am sure, she is so depeely involved and singing the songs, excellent u deserve for bharat ratna award. wat a song yar i love i forget the entire world wen i hear this song
very excellent voice, no one can sing like this, i am sure, she is so depeely involved and singing the songs, excellent u deserve for bharat ratna award. wat a song yar i love i forget the entire world wen i hear this song
Yes! I know what you mean. I feel the same way except my scalp tingles. It's all about the frequencies of her voice...and the Indian instruments also. Karen Yochim Devaki
i am overwhelmed by the beauty behind amma's voice , the words and her expressions. Tears roll down as i hear each words as they reach to the roots of my heart.
Sri Rajaji's lyrics brings tears to my eyes....especially when it is rendered through the melodious and divine voice of the one and only MS!!!!!! I thank God that i have the opportunity to listen to this on You Tube....Long Live Music...Long Live You Tube!!!!
Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is of course the MS Subbulakshmi of Qawwali and vice versa in spirit. If you look at the social and cultural contexts in which they have performed, both have almost single handedly increased the appeal of the art by many folds. Both are well known for taking their audience to ecstasy. So it would be foolish, at the best, to deny their greatnesses.
Any sorrows, sadness or depression that might have been caused to your mind during the day, will be completely erased after hearing this song once... when it comes from MS herself.. its just nectar!
Very few knew that the song was written by the first indian governer general of independent india Dr.Rajagopalachari. The song is immortal as that very god himself
She's a demon on those hand cymbals, but you can tell inflated egos and years of fast living sure have taken their toll on em, looking bad for 28 years old. Is that Keith Moon on the left? You go Hilda!!
It makes me cry too. There's so much emotion in her voice and expressions - it brings out the intensity of the immortal lyrics. Some people think it's "only" semi-classical, not true classical Carnatic music - but who cares! It's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.
Fits well with the "Songs of Kabir" a great book of lessons written long ago by a wonderful spirit while resting under a tree. I do not understand this dialect but the emotion is inescapable. Woe unto this World because we have let compassion slip from our hearts.
Is singing a prayer to Buddah to save the souls of the chosen ones. I feel that, but not understanding this dialect, I am not certain. However, I can't help but to feel a heavy sorrow and loss for some reason. Are my tears for humaity at hearing this, out of context?
Your tears are certainly not out of context. After all, this is meant to touch hearts and not just the mind. Whether you call Buddha or Krishna (as in this song) if the song touches you, there is no sorrow/loss and tears do follow.
stupid judgement at best. How can someone compare her greatness with a mean soul like Nusrat without even knowing what the lyrics means. also you shud listen to the original song she sung when she was a little younger than how she seems in this video.
I understand your passion but there is no need to be rude. Bringing Nusrats personality and the lyrics are weak arguments to support what is obviously a smaller vocal range and technique. I can appreciate her soulfulness but her voice is certainly not as dazzling or captivating as Nusrat or an Olm Kalthoum. I will however check out some earlier footage of her. Regardless, there's no need to be a dick about it.
This song is pure devotion meant to touch hearts and not to impress pepole. MSS is one of the very very few people who manage to do it (without any histrionics). The rendering is touching because of her spontaneous bhaava. She may be lesser known than Nusrat (only devotional songs)but for me she is certainly better. Also, comparison is not quite correct as MSS would never do qawwali (she was trained in both north and south indian music)and Nusrat would (or could)not do Carnatic.
Truly Amazing !!!!

Wonderful.
As usual, the contributor does not credit the artists or the art. So, nobody knows who is singing or what is being sung.
On Youtube, the viewers arew from all over the world. Everybody does not recognize the artist unless you tell them and explain everything.
Please tell us in detail, Who sings, what song, on what date, where, on what occasion, who are the accompaniying artists etc.

You people think she is divine, then this song sounds good. But it is a shit.
