  • Probably MSS amma came the closest one can get to God. Not because she reached Gods but Gods came running down to listen to her. I think even Gods were jealous of her. The world will miss you till its death, MSS. You are irreplaceable.

  • She is not indian, east south west north.. SHE is GOD!.

  • She is not indian, east south west north.. SHE is GOD!.

  • Wonderful.

As usual, the contributor does not credit the artists or the art. So, nobody knows who is singing or what is being sung.

On Youtube, the viewers arew from all over the world. Everybody does not recognize the artist unless you tell them and explain everything.

Please tell us in detail, Who sings, what song, on what date, where, on what occasion, who are the accompaniying artists etc.

  • you should reedit the title.... or you will receive insulting comments from people who don't understand this... people are ignorant these days...

  • Amma,

I am moved to tears everytime I hear this song. I watched the video for the first time and cried my heart out. This song in my opinion is the purest form of prayer and devotion to god, it does matter who the god is. MSS bring out the real spirit and the meaning of the lyrics. Words fail me when I try to describe her sincere expression. MSS has reinforced my belief in God.

  • very well said Legends are the ones who are great she is DIVINE and GODLY :P

  • MSS is a Goddess and her bhajans fill my heart with bliss ANANDA and thus I meditate of the lotus feet of LORD VISHNU, KRISHNA

    DEVADEVA HARI KI JAI

  • MS Subbhalaxmi is a goddess and I listen to her bhajans daily and I feel transcendental bliss, ANANDA meditating on the LOTUS FEET OF LORD SRI VISHNU.

    DEVADHI DEVA KI JAI

  • MSS, through her devotinal songs, makes us contemplate on our true nature as a soul and that sets her apart from any other singer including Nusrat.

  • I love this song ... thanks for posting.

  • அருமையிலும் அருமை.

    என்னுடைய வலைப்பூவில் தொடுப்பு கொடுக்க என்ன செய்ய வேண்டும்?

    நன்றி

  • Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is of course the MS Subbulakshmi of Qawwali and vice versa in spirit. If you look at the social and cultural contexts in which they have performed, both have almost single handedly increased the appeal of the art by many folds. Both are well known for taking their audience to ecstasy. So it would be foolish, at the best, to deny their greatnesses.

  • All devotees of Krishna/Kanna would melt in their hearts!

  • Any sorrows, sadness or depression that might have been caused to your mind during the day, will be completely erased after hearing this song once... when it comes from MS herself.. its just nectar!

    Kurai Onrum Illai Kanna!

  • Very few knew that the song was written by the first indian governer general of independent india Dr.Rajagopalachari. The song is immortal as that very god himself

  • cool

  • More of this, please....pl don't compare with Nusrat.

  • wow!

  • cool vid, thx mate.

  • could not hear the song full.

  • hearing this song i cried!so touching and my fav one!

  • It makes me cry too. There's so much emotion in her voice and expressions - it brings out the intensity of the immortal lyrics. Some people think it's "only" semi-classical, not true classical Carnatic music - but who cares! It's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.

  • Fits well with the "Songs of Kabir" a great book of lessons written long ago by a wonderful spirit while resting under a tree. I do not understand this dialect but the emotion is inescapable. Woe unto this World because we have let compassion slip from our hearts.

  • You're right, the emotion is inescapable. It's a devotional song in Tamil sung by the incomparable M S Subbulakshmi.

  • Subbu Lakshmi the ever glowing Lamp that brightens the souls darkened by present day materialism.

  • Beautiful song... Thanx a lot for the clip..

  • Oh Lord, MSS. No words whatsoever.

  • Is singing a prayer to Buddah to save the souls of the chosen ones. I feel that, but not understanding this dialect, I am not certain. However, I can't help but to feel a heavy sorrow and loss for some reason. Are my tears for humaity at hearing this, out of context?

  • Your tears are certainly not out of context. After all, this is meant to touch hearts and not just the mind. Whether you call Buddha or Krishna (as in this song) if the song touches you, there is no sorrow/loss and tears do follow.

  • MSS the IMMORTAL LEGEND LIVES ON WITHIN US.....NO MORE SORROW

  • stupid judgement at best. How can someone compare her greatness with a mean soul like Nusrat without even knowing what the lyrics means. also you shud listen to the original song she sung when she was a little younger than how she seems in this video.

  • I understand your passion but there is no need to be rude. Bringing Nusrats personality and the lyrics are weak arguments to support what is obviously a smaller vocal range and technique. I can appreciate her soulfulness but her voice is certainly not as dazzling or captivating as Nusrat or an Olm Kalthoum. I will however check out some earlier footage of her. Regardless, there's no need to be a dick about it.

  • This song is pure devotion meant to touch hearts and not to impress pepole. MSS is one of the very very few people who manage to do it (without any histrionics). The rendering is touching because of her spontaneous bhaava. She may be lesser known than Nusrat (only devotional songs)but for me she is certainly better. Also, comparison is not quite correct as MSS would never do qawwali (she was trained in both north and south indian music)and Nusrat would (or could)not do Carnatic.

  • can anyone translate

  • beautiful song...

    Sincere tributes to MSS.

  • u exist....but invisible to me ,

Even then I dont have anything to complain

it moves u like it moves everything.

  • pls post more frm this dvd/vcd!!

  • wonderful clip and one of my fav compositions!

  • Words cant express the feelings I have after seeing this video. Thanks a lot.
