Yea I assumed they were too big, the plugs continue to foul out about every week or so, Ive been glass beading them whenever they act up, and between that problem, and the points which had been acting up it took a while to narrow it down. Im going to just sell the bike as is and let the next person take it over, Its a great bike, but I want to go a different route anyway.
Also, how tough was it applying the 2" springer front end? I was planning to go to this and z bars. Controls difficult? Was it hard finding a throttle and clutch cable of this length?
I love them both. Especially the Black one. Im working on one myself, building from an xs400 (1979) I have had the worst experience ever, getting the carbs tuned correctly. I have the 34 mikunis on it. And they are just a pain in my ass. Im considering making up a minifold and frunning them both into a single carb. I am certain that the problems started at the points eventually sparking the probems that Ive been having. It revs high, shuts off during idles when its geared down fast. Suggestions?
@slicktibs Did you get your carb issues sorted? I thought I was having carb issues and it turned out to be a points / timing issue. I'm just saying this because often people look to the carbs when it's actually electricals / ignition causing your woes... I speak from experience :)
@thunzie Actually Yes, I did sort htis out. and you are spot on, wound up being the points. I put new ones on and had no issue. I considered doing away with them competely. But have since sold that particular bike.
Man you have done a fine job on your bikes there. Can i ask weather you like the dual shock set up or the single set up you have on the bikes? I weigh about 210 lbs and am about to start a XS build here soon and am trying to figure out how i want to do my seat, as well as many other things. THnaks a lot! Keep posting vids.
What size are the front and rear rims 16-19 or 16-21 on the black and gold one and what bars are on it thank you

@slicktibs
I have 34mm mikunis on my white bike and LOVE them. So far nothing else works better.
You have them on a 400? you need a smaller carb first off. Or some serious jetting and syncing work done.

@slicktibs how much for white one

So clean!!! Did you stretch it more than the 3 inches that TC hardtails come standard with? How did you get it to look so long and low?

Both bikes are gorgeous, can you tell me whos rear fenders you used? Thanks!

Awesome bike dude! Love them!!!
Can I ask what frames you are using and what springer front ends?
Many thanks,

@Squidded - frames are TC hardtails, springers are DNA 2" under. Thanks!

I'd give my left nut for either 1 of those 650's. Awesome job on them both.

@TheShanezzzz
Not sure yet, still having some jetting issues. But so far they aren't performing as nice as the 34mm Mikuni's.
But still a good deal nevertheless.

Just how loud is the 650 engine with the straight-through pipes on it like you have? Loud, really loud, or neighbours call the cops loud?
Pamberjack 1 year ago
@Pamberjack i have baffles in the pipes. Without them u will definitely get pulled over allot.

I'm changing the springs on the dual because its way to stiff for me. The single is about right with 1 stiff spring.
If your a big guy i would go with 2 and pick springs to suit you.
