  • to whom it may concern.. TALKBOX and AUTOTUNE are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. tpain pitch corrects his voice in studio as to roger troutman uses a piano and voice serenades the cords(or jus sings along with it)..

    AUTOTUNE - pitch correction

TALKBOX - harmonic via piano(or guitar as snoop dogg used)

now with that said tpain didnt imitate roger. may got inspiration but technically he never used a talkbox.

  • Damn this my shit

  • on my street sounds album i just found myself playing this over and over again

  • my song!

  • talk box's were effect's units...autotune is intended for folks who can't keep pitch or sing. if anyone owes their success to these guy's. i would say it had to be EPMD & Teddy Riley.

  • people saying how T pain owes his career? no, you're totally wrong. talk box and autotune are different birds entirely.

  • Crazy! That's what I call performing!

  • dam, what hapen to music like this? Music from today has no purpose/meaning

  • Not that it matters but I'm as white as white gets and I fu%&^%ing love Roger...he brought many people together through his music...for example...I will actually walk into KFC now and sample the original blend....lalalalalal you are .

  • t pain took a huge page from the book of roger troutman. imitation is the sincerest of flattery. i feel like his music is a celebration of roger. there aren't a whole lot of people who can do what that man did.

  • dont ever say tpain or autotune in the same sentence as roger troutman....and to the smartasses i realize just said it but you know wtf im trying to say

  • So much more emotion in this live version!

  • Pure awesomage

  • which one is Larry ?

  • Aaaaaa i wanna be your man .... Best part

  • who would dislike this video it is great

  • Oh My God!!! Incredible! I grew up loving this song. Roger's talkbox work was pure genius. Even better live than on his singles.

  • rest in peace Roger Troutman & Sting Ray Davis, great bass voice

  • thenoblequran(Ctrl+Enter)

  • this is legendary, pure genius

  • Fuckin' brilliant!

  • check out that note @2:16!

  • talkbox was used by peter frampton first, ritchie samborie of bon jovi, and these guys.

  • T-pain can sign too and is talented but i think we shouldnt talk bout him here , coz he has hes music and this is Zapp band music

  • Now THIS IS MUSIC. what happened? Now we're stuck listening to fake ass singers who can't even sing( T-PAIN) and make it big because of Auto Tune. Yeah Roger used the talk box BUT could also sing as well.

  • I feel younger when I listen a leyend making music like this, but I have to come back to the future where I am and listen into my past for some freedom in the present.

  • @unspokenrespect

Go to Wikipedia and type in "talkbox"

It should clear it up for you. Alot of people refer to it as the "original" autotune, but that's not true. Though similar, they are 2 entirely different creatures.

  • WOW WOW WOW ROGER!!!!RIP WE USED TO REALLY PARTY TO THIS....

  • mister roger troutman!!!

  • Original autotune

  • classic song

  • t pain needs to take notes from these guys! I LOVE ZAPP & ROGER!!!

  • I no longer need a strategy, thanks to modern technology!

  • reminisce! still shining.

  • T-Pain Pay Homage To Zapp and Roger Mannnnnnn!!!!!!!!

  • t-pain can't hold a candle to this man.

  • which one is larry

  • Roger Troutman (his name) was and is the best at auto tuneing talk boxing wa wa peddling w.e u wanna call it t pain is second best

  • Great sound..even if the guy with the deep voice looks like he's been up on coke for a week.

  • TIGHT!

  • Miss you Roger!

  • Awesome video. May we should have collaborated with my Go Computer video on my page.

Check it out if you have time!

  • Anyone else think that Roger missing that first note just made the song sound even cooler? Even if it was unintentional, it gave the song a nice twist!

  • @svoit41 --- it sounded intentional. cool either way!

  • yes he was the man.he did his thing {ROGER WE LOVE YOU} R.I.P. i like how he added i wanna be your man in computer love

  • ZAPP: Super music-super musician-

    Roger Troutman R.I.P.

    Bella Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵Ʒ.

  • Awesome talk box

  • T-Pain is doing autotune and it was first done by Cheer.

But Roger here is doing some talkboxing wich is very different to autotune. Hes molding words out of the synth sound coming out of the tube he has in hes mouth.

  • lol that aint no rick james

  • did they have autotune back then

  • It was called the Talkbox. The granddad of auto tune. except Talkbox is an instrument with a key board that must be played to match the words spoken into it.

  • t pain owes his career to these guys!

  • true

  • He acknowledges Roger Troutman as his fore-barer. T-Pain Loves and respects Roger. RIP

  • then lil wayne and others needs to too

  • @tmprogram when T pain starts playing a talk box, get back to me, thanks!

  • @raisin619 he does use it but he stole the idea

  • @tmprogram - t-pain = autotune, not talkbox. using a talkbox means you have to be able to play an instrument ... i'm sure t-pain can't

  • @bedtime4bonzo but the style is from these guys and owes them

  • @raisin619 T-Pain does use talk box you prat!!!!!!!!!!

  • @raf3070 T pain uses auto tune not a talkbox auto tune is a pitch correction software that automatically puts your voice in the correct note.Talk box each note is threw a keyboard a guitar how ever you choose to use it way more complicated.

  • @younodsmith I stand corrected :)

  • @raf3070 wrong he uses auto tune

  • @jenjenlover Yes I know, I said I stand corrected if you read more.

  • @tmprogram your 100 percent right. He is hells respectful to Roger Troutman and admits it tho.

  • @shotputi if only tpain fans knew that

  • This is way before my time and out of my neighbourhood. Wish I could've seen these guys live.

  • at: :20 is that Rick James

  • LOL!

  • @shotputi That is Dale DeGroat.

  • @shotputi That is Dale DeGroat.

  • What a hot concert. Every clip I've seen is magic. It's hard to choose between these performances and the originals.

  • whats funny is there 3 men singin the women part and around 0:57 they say ill be your special girl and roger looked like he wanted to laugh

  • The Troutman brothers were true pioneers!!

  • I love this song.... great song!

Mannnnn the guy at the end was dope!

    2:36

  • Dude got me wanting to get a ax synth

  • u people r sooo stupid

t-pain is not anything Roger Troutman they r diff types of music and 2 diff types of voice distortion Rger uses A talk box

  • Which one of these guys is the brother that killed him

  • larry troutman

  • Ri.p. Roger Troutman! He and his brothers were so talented...it's ashame that he was killed in a jealous rage by his own brother. His son is the young lighter completioned guy with the longer hair who looks like Damon Wayans.

  • yeah, he's the second talkboxer, so to speak. i can't believe he's dead too.

  • Who was the first?

  • NO, you guys misunderstood, what in the performance, there's two guys playing the talkbox, roger and his son roger jr. otherwise known by his middle name lynch. you can see him in 2:30

  • HOLY CRAP Roger Troutman was the man!
