Galveston is awesome you guys it's been around for over a hundred years! It used to be the Nation's main gulf export location and survived/rebuilt so many times after hurricanes, including Ike. It's like it never dies! Oh btw if you wanna go, the Hotel Galvez is really nice and the ONLY building to ever survive the Great Hurricane of 1900.

i live in galveston and i love our history. it's so interesting and going to the strand really brings out our history. hurricane ike really hit us bad, and after it happened everybody forgot about it. i'm living in the upstairs of my house while there's construction going on downstairs and a little upstairs. there are a lot others who are still recovering. a lot of people helped but the majority forgot about us. fighting with the insurance companies and getting permits and the long process of

Texas is BEAUTIFUL north, south east or west even after Ike. Hou and Galv has a flavor that is Texan and Creole. I do believe we can do better in Houston like truning the Greens Bayou to into another River Walk like they talk about in the past. AstroWorld close and now we need something to replace that, maybe Disney will come here we have plenty enough land here. I think having a CASINO would be good for Galv and Hou. I know people think that would be a bad move but look what's going on now.

Galveston is awesome! I take my family out there 3-4 times a year. It's about a 4 hour drive, but it's worth it. My favorite place to eat down there is a place call "The Spot." I love the fried pickles.... Yes, there are some not-so-clean hotels, but they are not your only choice. I prefer the "Victorian." It's very nice and clean and it's not expensive at all. If you have a little more money to spend, you can stay at the "San Luis." It is amazing! Galveston has a rich history, check it out.
