  • Yes, your concentrated weight will press the fabric to the ground. That is why it does not break. When you lay out, you float.

  • @luxlite with the hi-rise kit, do you still touch the ground?

  • Yes you still touch... . (This thing weighs the same a a Nalgene bottle full of water.) The center two bows come with twist bows (a pair of tubes) so adding the hirise kit (4 pairs of tubes to make twist bows for the other four locations) does not change the middle.

    A recent email:

"My Ultralite cot been going strong for four years of continuous expedition use now, which is very good going, most equipment doesn’t last that long under these conditions let alone ultra light gear." -Stuart Goring

  • @luxlite curious about the legs. are they plastic or carbon fiber?

  • When you sit on the bed, are you suppose to touch the floor?

  • I absolutely swear by this cot. I have the cot + hi rise kit + cool mat (probably appx 3lbs sum). I am 6' 260lbs... and even for a fat one like myself this cot managed to float my hefty bottom off the ground all night, AND I toss-n-turn quite frequently AND no sore/sweaty back the next morning. Fits in a solo tent very nice. there is no doubt in my mind that if you sleep on it for just 1 night after a hike, you will never go back to those sleeping pads or infaltable mats.

  • It's worth the price! I've used a thermarest motorcycle camping for years, but the years caught up. Bad shoulders, bad knees and iffy back, I need more than a pad. Luxurylite is worth every penny. If you can sleep on a pad or are not tight tight for space, good for you. Small, light and comfortable is worth 219 to me.

  • @luxlite

I like the look of your cot. Carrying a rated load of 325lbs. at that size and weight is impressive. It might not be the cheapest, but given the materials and warranty it might be the cheapest in the long run. Some of the cheapest gear I've ever bought was expensive upfront but I only had to buy it once instead of buying it over and over again when it broke. Like buying a Jandd bag instead of the disposable Chinese stuff. Try getting those refurbed free.

    P.S. Don't feed the trolls.

  • nice cot!

  • Yes it will... even a 325lb guy can sleep fine. There are no end bars like an army cot, so tall people have no pole hitting their ankles.

  • Would this luxury lite cot fit a 190 lb. man who is 6' 4" tall? This does look appealing.

  • @grittygreenhorn I'm the same size as you and was wondering that. The old dude in the vid appears to be in the 5'9-6' range and he barely fit on it. I would be interested in one that is similar in size to the big thermarest's that are 25x77, my big NeoAir is hard to beat for good sleeps in the backcountry.

  • this is brilliant. well done guys!

  • could not hear with sound up on you tube and my mac book pro, good expensive

any similar for car camping which may be cheaper?

  • hammock! :) for the win If you got anylon rain poncho in woodland camo that is 110 inches long I'll be banging down your door to buy it.

  • I own one of these and they are a great product. If the price is out of your range there is a product called go-kot that sleeps just as well, only it weights more and doesn't pack as well.

  • I've bought 2 of these now - yes, very expensive, but IN COMBINATION w/my expensive Thermarest, it's like sleeping at home! As a younger hunter, I could sleep on a bed of rocks, but a good night's sleep becomes more and more important with advancing age, and this contraption can't be beat in my expensive spike tent with my expensive Tigoat vertex stove and titanium stove pipe!

  • i want one ! but out of my price range in old rip-of britain :(

  • Any sales?

    Return policy?

  • I buy a lot of outdoor gear, some of it very expensive (ie Titanium Goat Vertex Stove); however I won't pay £172 for this. My local Halfords store (car parts and cheap camping equipment) are selling the chinese made wire leg, green cotton top folding camping bed for £9.99 - yes it does weigh 3.6 kilos but is £162 cheaper!

Nice product but you guys really want to have a think about your pricing policy ...

  • @niceguygaz

£9.99 will buy a CD player, £172 will buy an iPod Touch. Do you still carry your CD player from the last century? If you want to sleep good, the UltraLite Cot is the best outdoor bed in the world. If you need to sleep good all night AND require a tiny packed size and light weight, the UltraLite Cot is the ONLY bed in the world. Just check out the comments all over the Internet. I have one of those green cots with wire legs... have you tried sleeping on it all night yet?

    Cheerio!

  • @luxlite

no offense Bruce, it's a cool product and I love cutting edge UL gear but not at this price. Ever heard of the 80/20 rule? I haven't tried sleeping on the £9.99 bed but at that price I'll risk it lol!

And I sleep very well at night ... on my Thermarest Neoair (£70 and 260g)

    Night night

  • @luxlite I see the custom made plastic extrusions..... that had to cost some dough to get geared up to do that, he probably has to sell a whole lot just to recover that expense, so ease up on the cost comments. The lightness is great. As to the assembly: more pertinent would be have a few beers, wait until dark, and then assemble. And good a good lokking cot model to demonstrate the laying down part!

  • @luxlite

"...UltraLite Cot is the ONLY bed in the world"

...And herein is where your marketing platform fails. When looking at the materials and manufacturing, your pricing structure is WAY out of line and this is why you haven't sold 10 million of these. Simply put, gouging your customer pushes them away. If you knew this you'd be much more successful and ubiquitous. Many other options just as comfortable (and roomier) for less cost and weight. - Fail

    Cheerio.

  • Not proper to do a partial quote. the entire sentence is "If you need to sleep good all night AND require a tiny packed size and light weight, the UltraLite Cot is the ONLY bed in the world." No other bed comes near the packed size and weight. Look at the prices of ultralite tents. $400 for a 3lb tent. So $220 for a 3lb cot ain't bad, right? Both made from the same basic materials, fabric, aluminum tubing, and plastic parts. The lighter a camping product is, the more it costs to make.

  • @luxlite

$150.00 for a high quality 2 lb hammock, comfort AND shelter

    $60.00 USD, or walk away.

  • $150 for 2lb of fabric and cord. That is $75 a pound. So 3lbs of cot with fabric and aluminum and nylon at $75/lb = $225. You make my point.

  • That is $150 for 2lb of fabric and cord. =$75 a pound. So 3lbs of cot with fabric and aluminum and moldings at $75/lb = $225. Granite Gear Nimbus Meridan Pack - 3.5lbs of fabric and straps - $215 = $61/lb. Gossamer Gear Murmer Hyperlite Pack - 8oz - $90 = $180 per pound. MSR AC Bivy - 1lb of fabric/zipper - $199.95 =$200/lb. Sky Burner Ocius UltraLite Kite - Fabric and tubing - 7oz -$225 = $514/lb.

  • @luxlite

Yeah, you're obviously not gettin' it. You just tried to hype the expense of lite materials and manufacturing... now you're comparing items of irrelevant functionality and manufacturing by cost/weight?.... yup, you've not a clue.

Try looking back at all the posts, seems a consensus here. You can't trade beans for a cow. Your customers are trying to tell you that all over this channel, read the posts and come back when you get your head out of the clouds. price it to sell and you will.

  • @luxlite

"That is $150 for 2lb of fabric and cord."

Um - $150 for Fabric, cord, mosquito netting, a tarp room for storage, a place to hang a water bottle and a light, and it keeps you off the ground. So far your product just isnt worth what YOU think it is.

  • @luxlite

I quoted based on number of characters to get my point in... my comment stands. People can read for themselves, they know what I quoted. Your rationality against your pricing fails too. You are not selling shelter, and your materials do not require the complexity of such. And the "lighter it is the more expensive it is to make," is also bullocks. Smart consumers know better.

You gouge, we buy elsewhere. Simple as that.

  • Titanium cost more than carbon costs more than aluminum costs more than fiberglass. From light to heavy. Every single manufacturer of ultralite camping equipment agrees that the lighter you make a product that delivers an equal performance, the more it costs. Check out a Tour de France bicycle compared to my bike. The Tour bike weighs 1/3 of mine but costs 1,000 times more. Easton aluminum tubing costs 4 times Chinese aluminum tubing.

  • @niceguygaz You are not the target market for this item... It is for backpackers and motorcycle campers, etc...

  • @utooblostmyothername I am a qualified Bushcraft and survival skills tutor; I have ridden a motorcycle nearly every day for 13 years; I just came back from a 500 km cycle tour of northern Spain - I brought my Thermarest Neoair with me, I hardly knew it was there it's so light and small ;)

  • @niceguygaz The NeoAir is an amazing invention. If you can get a good nights sleep on a NeoAir or Therm-a-Rest, then that is the bed to carry. I did for 10 years, until I fell off the roof of my very tall house. Most 50+ baby boomers have a few old 'injuries' and just need more than 2 inches of on-the-lumpy-ground mat to get a great night's sleep.

  • what is the supporting weight?

  • @afterthefox7

325lbs... see the website for all specs

  • @luxlite , will cool mat and high rise kit all fit in the included carrier of the cot? if not, how much volume will be increased with the additional items?

  • @readingleejh

The cool mat will not fit in the cot bag. It is best carried by stuffing into your pack, saddle bag, etc first and then pack other gear into the middle which will compress the foam. -=bruce

  • can't be use for a litter... all those bows have to touch the ground to support the weight. But it will work as a sail for a skateboard or kayak.

  • just out of curiosity, is this something that can be used as an emergency stretcher... for whatever reason that a stretcher might be needed

  • They need an attractive woman to model this product, no offense old man!

  • Just set mine up - thanks!

  • Absolutly a great item.

    But $219 -- LuxuryLite® UltraLite Cot™

    is expensive.

  • Brilliant idea but yes,way toooooo expensive...A family of 5 camping soon becomes really expensive...

I'll have to look elsewhere for 5 other ways to get cots...

If cheaper I'd buy 5 in a heartbeat...time to check ebay hong long I think...

  • Very Nice........But way tooooooooooo expensive...

  • cool........................
