@ballefras All you have to do is to go to the midi settings in Ableton and under the midi ports choose the UC-33e as a remote control device (as the midi input of the device)... then just use the midi learn function (cmd+m on a Mac) to program the button / fader / knob and what you to do with it.
And BTW there is a preset on the UC-33e that suppose to work out of the box in Ableton (no midi learn required) but I didn't use that, I prefer to program the faders,knobs and buttons for my needs...
I just bought a UC-33e, I have tried to set it up in Ableton, but can't get it to work. Do I have to map it manually?

@ballefras no you can save a template with all your settings... goto preferences-file -> save current set as default...
