Masato was about as good as Buakaw, Souwer and Kyshenko. Even then I think Souwer and Buakaw were clearly better. Masato was good but nothing amazing, he just had the judges on his side.

One of the well known Thai Muay Thai champion said Sato has the best chance of winning against Petrosyan than any other fighters. And I agree. Lefty has a longer reach and it's harder to reach lefty for right-handed fighters too. Using knees and with the height advantage, Petrosyan really has no choice but to be prepared to get hit to hit Sato. The problem with Sato is that he has no speed.

Oh yeah, MASATO hasn't been bested in years when fresh.

The only thing that caused him to lose was the cumulative damage to his legs caused by fighting multiple world class fighters on the same night.

He beat Buakaw when fresh, and he beat Souwer when fresh. He has no unavenged losses in K-1 and is the whole reason why MAX even exists.

MASATO was not only the best because of his skills in the ring, but because the paying (Japanese) fans loved him.

MASATO is better than Souwer, he proved it beyond doubt on NYE. It was a clear win for MASATO, even without the knockdown.

Sato is only saying these things about MASATO because he has lived in his shadow. I'd be prepared to wager that Kohi feels the same.

Thats not true. Sato hates Masato the most. This is an edited version of his thoughts. He had to say proper things of a two time World Max champion. I Also think that Souwer is not better then Masato. On his last fight Masato defeated Souwer in 5 rounds fair and square, even knocked him down so careful with your words. Petrosyan, Masato, Buakaw, Souwer, and Kyshenko they are the strongest guys on this planet. And after them comes Kraus and Sato.

I consider Petrosyan to be better than Buakaw at present, as in the time since they met, I believe that Petrosyan has improved to a greater extent than Buakaw.

It seems that Buakaw has been a little off form as of recent, whereas Petrosyan is at the top of his game.

I am by no means saying that Buakaw could not or would not win, he definitely has all the tools to do so.

@619kammy Sato and masato are pretty good but other than that... all the other japanese fighters who fight on k1 cards would get whipped by c level fighters in Holland..Sato's is pretty inconsistent..Other than that hes good but not good enough to be the true elite guys like petrosyan and if he didnt have height he would lose to quite a few people. Sato has entered the Its showtime 8 man tournament that will take place on July 23 that includes petrosyan, souwer, drago so we will see how he does
