While I was in China all my albums were sold for $1.00. My parents got a little over $600. They didn't even count doubles, triples or quadruples. My last album is Brian Eno's Multi Media Album recorded on an island off the coast of Spain. I got copy # 101. The only reason I still have it is because it had my sister's name on it. She was living in Resolute Bay at the time. I had told her about this album. I read about it in Omni magazine. She bought it for my birthday. Thanks Wendy.
brian eno, is not a homosexual. back then he just dressed like one. in fact bryan ferry, states it used to drive him crazy of eno's line and how he could draw women with it. ferry said it was fantastic too watch.
.......used to put this record on and leave the stacking arm up so it would play over & over while doing my (art) school projects....Sorry neighbors!!! Good to hear people still listening to BE's quirky brilliance...........
That's because it goes from God, to Eno, to You... and then, well... and then nothing. Unless of course you credit The Underworld. And then it goes to some actor... like John Travolta. Get ready for some nice, evil type stuff from John Travolta!
That's a really good question. The guitar solo sounds like Fripp, but he's not credited. Some commenters below seem to think it's Fripp. But I suppose it could be Manzanera channeling Fripp. Anybody know for sure?
@ksjoyjespeace didn't imply otherwise so stop screaming. It may be apocryphal but i remember reading long time ago how eno would basically 'lend some assistance to the object'; spanking the pickups as fast as possible while phil fretted his own guitar- which would be the same one he gets credits for on the lp liner, right? Or did u hear me say: 'Eno played guitar on this song; not Phil'? u seem to be a Manzanera troll to judge from the comments here, so perhaps i should just stop right here.
@cacemphaton Not screaming,it's just easier to type without worrying about the shift key! I was just commenting on the great guitar-work, I know Eno played treated guitars! God bless!!!
"these poor(?) girls are such fun / they know what God gave them their fingers for / (to make percussion over solos) " then you hear a typewriter making percussion over the guitar solo. I love it!
Thanks for posting. I like that the back side of Tiger Mountain's sleeve shown here is really from the Tiger Mountain COVER album done by Doug Hilsinger and Caroleen Beatty several years ago in San Francisco. Well worth tracking down, and pretty simple to do also.
Listen for the typewriters during the guitar solo! Of course, kids today have never heard a real typewriter,a real telephone ringing,or any decent music, for that matter...
I have to disagree. Eno's influence is more palpable on the current crop of experimental art rockers than any before. Artists as diverse as TV On the Radio to Animal Collective to more experimental musicians like Black Dice and Fuck Buttons are clearly influenced by Eno. That said, they're are plenty of great musicians kids are making as I type: from the L.A. art rockers to New York's new noise-pop stuff to Europe's noise/dance blowout. There's plenty good if you seek it, sir!
a few years ago there was a doc on roxy music on a program called rockprofiles on german telly.they showed a snippet of the video .don t know if it ever was on you tube though?
@astroman287 I sincerely doubt that there was ever a video for this, but if anyone of the era would have been savvy enough to see the potential, it would have been Eno.

In the haze of the morning, China sits on Eternity
And the opium farmers sell dreams to obscure fraternities
On the horizon the curtains are closing
Down in the orchard the aunties and uncles play their games
(like it seems they always have done)
In the blue distance the vertical offices bear their names
(like it seems they always have done)
Clocks ticking slowly, dividing the day up
These poor girls are such fun they know what God gave them their fingers for
(to make percussion over solos)

I haven't heard this on CD or on-line ever...classic and yet so new-sounding even if it was done in 1974.Grazie!Nice pix.

Cool song. Eno during this period reminds of of Syd Barrett. Too bad nobody else ever pointed that out before in this posting.
I like mechanical pencils because they are so much easier to use. Who is a pencil sharpener? I haven't done that in over ten years. Get with it.
