Actually, the controls are pretty obvious and easy once you get them. It takes a bit more practice than most games, but they're not at all unresponsive nor do they hinder the game.
Controls are actually quite easy, except for that horrible boomerang, way too many controls. Also when you are riding the angels bird, that also has horrible controls. The story was very well done.

I don;t understand the negativity around this review, I think it's one of the best action adventures this gen. A good alternative to Zelda for 360/PS3
If you ever played Zelda, you'll see that it has a lot of things in common, like the grappling hook, the boomerang like thing, horse riding, etc etc... while Zelda did not invent these things, I know, it's similar because Darksiders do it the same way as Zelda, and puzzles are similar... Darksiders copies a lot from other games, but it's a fantastic game anyway, and I can't wait for the sequel.

I got this game earlier today and I have a problem. When I run it all the videos in the beginning sometimes lag or shock and so does the background music. The voice however is normal. I didn't go past the videos yet cause it's 4:30 and I didnt want to miss storyline. Anyone else got this problem or knows how to fix it?

They use actual Jewish and Catholic Apocripha characters along with a sprinkle of fairytale charm. I had absolutely no problem with controls, in fact, I found them refreshing. Having to remember just what you have equipt as well as the steps you take with the wide variety of tools make it incredable. And with the constant introduction to new equiptment and upgrades it never feels repeatative. I gave it easily a 9.5 if not higher. :D
@TheCanucks67 This isn't a long game if you know what your doing, sometimes the map can be confusing, but if your not worried about armor, artifacts, souls, etc. Then you could beat it in about 15-20 hours.

Really? I loved the game. I like the physics behind War, he moves very smoothly. And i never really had any trouble with pressing R2+L2 plus the right stick to aim the Crossblade to the fire and then on the bombs. It entered my top favourite games alongside God Of War and Devil May Cry (and in a few hours Dante's Inferno too perhaps). I cant wait for Darksiders Ⅱactually!

I own this game and it's was not that good. I was left playing it just to see how it would end. The visuals were under developed some. Only the CGIs looked good, but that's no surprise. Too many shader instructions kill the fps. I play games on a high powered system with multiple processors, so it's very rare for me to own a game that has bad fps during play. But what about those with lower end systems? Can't leave them out. I only play these games when I'm not developing just to Analyse

@ponquinful agreed, while some of the puzzles are fun, as the game progressed they got a little too repetitive. As for being able to predict the story after an hour, I was gripped every time I uncovered another piece of the plot.

Wow i really disagree with this review, my 360 version never had any screen tears or frame-rate drops, but my ps3 version did, so the person doing this review obviously prefers the ps3 as compared to 360 which could have been completely left out. Also the story is amazing especially if you have been analyzing the stories of the four horsemen in a biblical text.
I found throwing a charged crossblade quite easy... Did you only play with ur left hand or something?? And the story was awesome even though it was simple and predictable

I think this was a generally fair review for Darksiders besides two things. 1. I found the storyline to very enjoyable and not even nearly as bad as many say it is. 2. The controls are hard? I don't even know what you mean by that. Never once in this game did I have trouble with controls, and what the fuck are you doing at 3:45? That was either an extremely over-exaggerated attempt at making the controls seem hard or the people at Gamespot have no idea how to use a controller.

@nemjit1 I was like that at first but like any control system it just takes time to get used to, after a while its easy to throw that thing like a pro even with the slightly "complicated" targeting system :)
Also, the controls are only complex if you're used to single button mashfests like god of war. Yes, this game has the brutal nature of god of war and the puzzles of zelda, but I'd say the combat mechanics more closely resemble devil may cry.
360 version has since gotten an update to get rid of the screen tearing and frame rate issues. The ps3 version mentioned here isn't superior in itself, it just simply got the update first, and then became available for 360 owners. So both versions are on par.
well atleast somebody likes the game unlike the other reviewers, personally i think this is a good game if you like to spent alot of time with your games because theirs alot of stuff to collect and unlock even after you beat it.

I find it hilarious that there is framerate issues on the 360 but not on the ps3. It's almost always the opposite story.

Wow i really disagree with this review, my 360 version never had any screen tears or frame-rate drops, but my ps3 version did, so the person doing this review obviously prefers the ps3 as compared to 360 which could have been completely left out. Also the story is amazing especially if you have been analyzing the stories of the four horsemen in a biblical text.

I think this was a generally fair review for Darksiders besides two things. 1. I found the storyline to very enjoyable and not even nearly as bad as many say it is. 2. The controls are hard? I don't even know what you mean by that. Never once in this game did I have trouble with controls, and what the fuck are you doing at 3:45? That was either an extremely over-exaggerated attempt at making the controls seem hard or the people at Gamespot have no idea how to use a controller.

a really awsome game... bosses are challanging, and i have to disagree with gamespot on one thing, I liked the story line to it... though... there are a few things left out... I guess for the second game to explain. And... when it showed you a picture of the 4 horsemen, one of them looked like a woman, which would be a little strange, as it is unusual to see a female rider of the apocalypse :P... or i just didn't look properly. /shrug

Also, the controls are only complex if you're used to single button mashfests like god of war. Yes, this game has the brutal nature of god of war and the puzzles of zelda, but I'd say the combat mechanics more closely resemble devil may cry.

360 version has since gotten an update to get rid of the screen tearing and frame rate issues. The ps3 version mentioned here isn't superior in itself, it just simply got the update first, and then became available for 360 owners. So both versions are on par.

well atleast somebody likes the game unlike the other reviewers, personally i think this is a good game if you like to spent alot of time with your games because theirs alot of stuff to collect and unlock even after you beat it.
