the jetsons are from the 60's and the flinstons are from the 80's. which means the jetson had to travel into the future to meet them..hehe...kool..i love it
they traveled into the future to end up in the pass...awesome!!!
I also remember watching it...here in NY, it ran on WNYW (Ch. 5, also w/Fox), and they reran it for Thanksgiving 1988, when I managed to get it on tape.
this is also the last time all of the voice actors of these characters would be together. Daws Butler, the voice of Elroy, Henry Orbit, and Cogswell passed away in 1988; Mel Blanc, the voice of Mr Spacely, Barney, and Dino, passed away in 1989; Don Messick, the voice of Astro, RUDI, and MAC passed away in 1997.
George O' Hanlon passed away in 1989; right after completing the lines for JETSONS: THE MOVIE.
John Stephenson, the voice of Mr Slate, is the only main cast member still alive and he's in his 80's but he's reclusive pretty much and doesn't do many, if any, interviews about the golden age of Saturday morning cartoons, which he was a part of with Hanna-Barbera.
such a glaring omission!! sorry for that...Janet is 71 this year...how in the world did I forget to mention Judy Jetson when she appears a lot in the movie with her crush on the prehistoric rock star?? I think when I wrote my original comment it was based on the ones no longer living and then John Stephenson I singled out as the only main cast member from the movie still alive which was a mistake...Janet's also among the living.
@ClassicTVMan1981X: oh I know he passed away in 1977 but what I was doing was giving a run through of the principal voice actors who participated in this 1987 made-for-TV movie that have since passed away.
The only way kids today know of the Flintstones is from the cereal commercials and that episode of Billy and Mandy where they find Fred frozen and bring him back to life.
i have it on VHS...i do not know if it's even been re-released on DVD though. i found my VHS copy on-line. it's a nice movie...but i'm biased of course. you can blame network TV for removing all of the cartoons that at one time ran for years and years and years and years on Saturday morning TV. however, THE FLINTSTONES I would have to think is still popular because of the live-action films from a few years back plus the cereal commercials that you mentioned...not to forget the vitamins.
I do like The Flintstones and for The Jetsons are good too but, I think I like them both.

Alan Reed, Fred Flintstone's original portrayer, died in 1977 at age 69.

IIRC, this and the 1990 film were the last Jetsons cartoons made (unless you count the John K ones).
