AF is an insurance stage 4 sport while Rugby is only a stage 2 sport. Rugby is a far safer game to play. There are several groups in America trying to replace AF with Rugby at high schools for safety and because Rugby is cheaper as well. Not just equipment but for insurance.

@nyfootball64 NFL switches between offense and defense and get small breaks in between plays. In rugby they don't get to switch so they're constantly running back and forth so they don't burst out all there energy in one play to get yards like in football.

@nyfootball64 NFL switches between offense and defense and get small breaks in between plays. In rugby they don't get to switch so they're constantly running back and forth so they don't burst out all there energy in one play to get yards like in football.

i think it's important to note that many of these are either illegal tackles, late tackles or straight up fouls. rugby played properly and legally is not meant to be as savage. although injuries will always occurr, proper technique and conditioning should prevent the kind of serious injuries that many of the players featured here probably sustained

As an American i would like to say the NFL is a pussy league! I played american football (throwball) from youth through high school, and rugby is way harder! I can say Hockey compares to rugby, but the NFL is just a bunch of rich pussies playing half-ass rugby with pads on! These boys over here (USA) call football "soccer", so don't listen to them. I've played both & rugby is, stronger, faster, & harder to master. The NFL is a joke compared to the SuperLeague. Cheers

I am not really into rugby or american football, but rugby makes american football look like dancing with the stars. The difference is that rugby is for athletes. American football is just a bunch of fat black guys fondling each other. Dude look at any professional rugby back. Plus they're not armored up of course they can move faster. Bryan Habana, Tom Verndell etc (big black guys) are sub 11 seconds for the 100m on grass. NFL is a game of halftime shows and ad breaks with 100 guys on the field doing the job of 30.
