Yes Ghazalkar you are very right. Kirwani is a Karnatiki origin ragini of Asawari thath.

There is another beautiful Ghazal sung by Ghulam Ali sahib in this raga: Phir sawan rutt ki pawan chali tum yaad aaye.

This was the first gazal i heard on radio from Lahore in Panjab in the yr 1975,as a friend of mine Rajinder told me and after that i just fell in love with Mehdi hassan Sahib's voice.............even today i hardly miss any day without listening to his voice before going to bed.............Thanx a lot to Rajinder.
