  • @blastjet2000 I like how you classify 'Normal' as being able to reproduce. Does that mean heterosexuals born infertile are considered to be abnormal? Over 1500 animals have been observed to have homosexual activity, existing before the Human species. I would say homosexual existence is quite normal. Why do they exist if they can't reproduce? Perhaps to stop Over-population? Or to look after the reproduced when the heterosexuals are incapable. There are plenty of cases of that.

  • @blastjet2000 It is `normal` if you are gay, is it not?

  • LIKE A BOSS!

  • i am not religious, but that really sucked man.

& when she stood she was taller than him lol

  • I want to memorize this response

  • What do you suppose the membership dues are for the "Ignorant Tight Ass Club"?

  • ironic that conservative values are not supported by the bible and liberal values aren't supported by science...hmmm? id like to go into it in more detail ..but i suspect most of you are too fucking dumb to understand ! im very impressed with liberals finding fault with a childish superstitious piece of shit book like the bible...liberals are lucky conservatives dont dump jesus ..theyd dominate the political sphere for centuries if they did!

  • @TheAUDIOARCADE Do you even have a point to make, or is this just a personal rant? I admit to having done both, and this looks like the latter.

  • @TheAUDIOARCADE Could you give me an example of how liberal values aren't supported by science?

  • @TheAUDIOARCADE Show me a republican who claims he's an atheist, and I'll show you a democrat.

In all seriousness, Republicans view religious belief the same way that the South viewed slavery in the Civil War: our enemies lose their justification to fight us if we abandon it, but how are we going to throw away that which got us here?

  • @TheAUDIOARCADE

"liberal values aren't supported by science."

science doesn't support ANY values you dumb motherfucker

values are a matter of philosophy, religion and morality, not of science

    moron

  • @IronChefWannabe

    Actually

Liberals for the most part believe that gays are normal, science proves this too. (theres 1 off my head)

Saying "science doesnt support values is a bit silly friend, science is used in the support of many values, it is used as proof that some ideologies are right and others are wrong, if science doesnt support any values then it cant support anything as science supports fact, which in turn support values.

  • BOOOOOOOOOM!

  • RIght wing bitch, take that!

  • What a beautifully acted scene. Martin Sheen is incredible, but so is the woman playing the Dr. It's not easy to play such a dislikable character – you have to suppress the very human urge of wanting to be liked and convey that through the character. She stays true and reaction at the end of the scene is very well done.

  • why can't your leaders be as bold as this!!!

  • dang. They cut it off before Sam steals her crab puff!

  • Everything else seemed correct to say, but wasn't the vision that the guy in the bible had where he was told to eat the unclean animals provided for him EXPLICIT permission for mankind to eat pork?

  • Dear God...Sodom and Gomorrah hasnt the slightest thing to do with homosexuality. Then again they're wrong in one thing in the clip- Leviticus doesnt either. But the Sheen does show the foolishness of using OT purity codes to attack gays.

  • Sad that the writers/actors on this show actually have never read Scripture. If they had they would see the irony in trying to use Scripture to counter Scripture when actually there is no counter. This preys on the ignorant and the haters out there. I could give Sheen chapter and verse to prove him wrong and to prove he's never read the Bible. I shouldn't expect much from atheists.

  • @abc1000001 uhhhh.... Martin Sheen is a devout Catholic..... Just Sayin

  • @Bignoseperry You mean, he believes that abortion is wrong and believes that homosexuality is a sin and that marriage should be only 1 man and 1 woman?

  • @abc1000001 Um, Martin Sheen is an actor paid to portray a fictional character on TV. He says the words written by the scriptwriters. His personal theological beliefs have absolutely nothing to with the West Wing. He also played a murderer in the movie Badlands. He did so without having to kill a single person. I repeat, he's an actor. He is acting.

  • @Kaalec Thanks Kaalec, my question still stands. Does he believe that abortion is wrong and that homosexuality is a sin and that marriage is 1 man and 1 woman? I have no idea what he believes and as you state, he is just acting. But and there is a but here, an actor can be in a pornographic movie and just act. Can that person look at themselves as being Christian while acting in a pornographic movie? Christians do have a duty not to participate in things that are contrary to their morals.

  • @abc1000001 How about this? His beliefs are none of your business.

  • @abc1000001 If Christian actors could only appear in films or shows that show "Christian" values, there would be no entertainment worth watching. Actors and writers are there to reveal the human condition, not just the Christian point of view. And equating the discussion of ideas to acts of pornography shows a fundamental flaw in your thinking. And finally, Martin Sheen's personal beliefs (or mine) are none of your business.

  • @Kaalec Actually, it doesn't show a fundamental flaw. I just stated acting, not participating in the act of sex, he could be a passer-by or whatever. If you disbelieve that the West Wing was actually trying to make a point about people who don't approve of homosexuality then I think we should move on. If you believe that movies that have violence as in murders is just entertainment, again you and I are on different levels here. Lastly, I was speaking to Bignoseperry about his comment.

  • @abc1000001 But "acting" in a porn movie requires the sexual act, not a representation of it that more "mainstream" movies show. If you read my post, I said the purpose of movies, books, TV shows and other artistic endeavours is to reveal the human condition. Sometimes that involves the seamier side of life.

  • @abc1000001 Finally, you missing the point here: that the Bible is full of contradictory and hypocritical nonsense, and that anti-gay bigots carefully quote only those passages that support their hatred while ignoring all the other prohibitions of the "word of God". I.e. eating pork and lobster, cutting your bangs, being clean shaven etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.

  • @abc1000001

I'm not an expert on Scripture, but it doesn't seem all that ignorant to me. It seems to me that if the Bible is God's divine word, it will have been misunderstood and had some human ignorance mixed in over the millennia.

In this situation, if one group of people say gay people are going to Hell because of a line in a book/legal document, it seems fine to point out that the same source approves of some slavery and demands equal punishment for touching a dead pig or eating lobster.

  • @David171985 Hi David, thanks for replying to me. It does seem logical to point out about the eating habits as well but when you read the whole Bible as these writers obviously have not, you would see where Jesus changed the regulations of what to eat and when he stated what marriage is and where Paul speaks of homosexual acts. These are all in the New Testament. Now David, when one reads a book, one should read it from cover to cover, not cherry pick as it can make these writers look ignorant.

  • @abc1000001

    1

Are you trying to be patronising, or are you just naturally that way?

Reading the bible cover to cover, from Genesis to Revelations, would take a fair amount of time, and as an agnostic I'm not particularly interested in investing that amount of time.

The basic ideas behind Christianity - humility and love for fellow man - seem to me to contradict both the idea that gay people are all going to hell, and your idea that an actor should only act in productions they exactly agree...

  • @David171985

    2

...with. If you're humble, it means accepting that you can be wrong in your moral interpretations. If you're also a loving person, then you should be willing to allow people the freedom to make the mistakes they believe are correct, and, as long as an actor sort of agrees with how the script represents morality, it seems morally acceptable to work on that production. After all, a range of reasonable views leads to discussion, which can lead to improvement on what we have.

    ......

  • @David171985

    3

I can never understand how the vocal American right, who claim to represent a religion of humility and love, are so certain that God is going to cast people down into eternal suffering, not because they've hurt people, but because they're 'wrong'.

  • @David171985 I'm not American but why would you want to classify me as rightwing? Back to your point, a Christian man would not be part of something that goes against their faith unless they hold the same views. It is only logical.

  • @David171985 What moral interpretations? You stated you haven't read the Bible, so how would you know??? Let's be intellectual about this. I'm not trying to shut down your thoughts here but they really don't hold water when you haven't read it. Again, I dispute the claim that Sheen is a devoted Catholic, I've heard this used before for people who actually don't hold those beliefs but still use that phrase.

  • @David171985 If I am patronizing, I do apologize. If people are not interested in taking that time, then really, they could not comment on the Bible as they wouldn't have any basis other than their personal bias. No one said that homosexuals are going to hell, the act itself however is sinful and that is what is stated in Scripture. Humility and love is correct, and Jesus is proof of this and he is also proof that he does not love sin.

BTW, how can you comment on something you haven't read?

  • @abc1000001 Jesus Christ, you're an asshole.

  • Just one note here:

    At the end......................................

when Bartlett says "Toby, that's how I beat him"

He was referring to the contest he had against Elliott Roush for Vermont State Legislature. In this episode there is a reference to Elliott Roush running for school board in a local Vermont town.

  • No matter which side you take this country has gone to hell in a handbasket.

  • can i just say one word OWNED eat it anti-gay Bible readers lol

  • @beachman214 lets just say. all bible humpers!!!

  • @beachman214 Are we pro gay bible readers owned too? And don't say they're aren't any because im sure as hell one.

  • @auntbecky No you aren't. Just the people who confuse the bible for a law-book. Jesus didn't walk around strangling people. He walked around and talked, helped and healed. That's the example you should follow unless you want to look like crazy loonatics out of touch with reality.

  • i thought sulpher come s from hell???? you are an example of what is wrong with christians that don't want to face the reality that in europe they are loosing grip but they are hold on here because this is the only country dumb enough to let this happen. if britians decided to accept the fact that hey it is time to move on, why not here. westerners are FLOCKING to buddhism because it is the only true way of being a human by not convaying to suffering by accepting it

  • I am very sorry that you have taken these comments as representing Christianity in any way. I think that everyone should know there are many different understandings, of the divine, of the sate of humans, and of morals.

Neither the comments of "nirmal8800" nor the recent comments of Colorado State Senator Renfroe are representative of the beliefs of a large number of people who call themselves "progressive Christians".

  • i understand there are open minded christians like your accept we atheist have our explaination of how we came to be and you guys even thought don't accept it but understand it is our way of thinking.. ilke christians that have an open mind and see that there are other ways of explaining life but i take comfirt that there still good chrstians like you who care but understand that others have there own way of thinking.

  • If only our current president were so brave. A typical panderer and phony. I voted for Obama but that doesn't mean I'm too proud right now. Maybe in the future he will be better, but I'm not counting on anything. Don't think I'm a Hillary supporter ether, if she was the nominee I wouldn't have voted at all.

  • there's something awful to be said when you are forced to pick which asshole you have to vote for. what democracy is based on, is not only the choice of who leads, but the choice of who your choices are.

  • A perfect response. :D
