there could be half a bill under another whole one, with some stiff material between them, or it could be some sorta gule making the part of the bill stiff, then he just slides it in, and lifts up the deck. notice the part of the bill he holds doesn't bend
I don't think so -- looks more like sleight of hand, putting some kind of stick underneath the bill and then moving it around to appear like there's nothing underneath the bill but there really is. Notice how you never get a shot of underneath and how the right hand \ thumb always grabs the bill in a certain way.
