Actually, there is an indirect correlation between Iraq and 9/11. Saddam Hussein attacked Kuwait, the U.S. attacked Iraq from bases in Saudi Arabia. Osama bin Laden was very unhappy about this and vowed to get back at the United States, which culminated in 9/11.
I am speechless. I love Jackson Brown's music and this song has it all. Hopefully some day violence and aggression will be replaced by reason and logic
I think one of the most insightful songs that Jackson Browne ever wrote....but hey, I love Jackson Browne...Many thanks Lyecoatha, if you didn't post it, I'd never have seen it!
One of the best political songs ever, Hands down! First heard it during the Reagan years and Iran-Contra. I was 11 at the time. It reinforced the need to educate myself rather than swallow what was being fed to the public.
This song was 100% relevant and straight to the point both politically and socially back in the 80's.
Sadly, 20 years later and it is, once again.
Great to see Jackson playing it again, though. Hopefully we'll listen this time.
Once again you have hit the nail directly on the head! I have been a huge Jackson Browne fan since 1972, he has always been in the forefront of the movement. The sad truth is that this song is more topical and timely now than in 1986, when it came out. Great job of matching current images to the lyrics, you can both be very proud of what you have accomplished with this video. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for caring enough to post this.
who would have known when we first heard this song that it would take on a whole new meaning in 2007? i've loved Jackson Browne's music since the beginning. wonder what he says about Iraq now???
Does anyone know what Browne says of Iraq? Joan Baez? There's a great CSN&Y song, "What Are Their Names" from 2006 tour on You Tube. It IS abt. Iraq- same comments done live with visual backdrop. Someone, teach me to download a video & I'll help get the word out on a lot of things!! -dovetrees at hotmail
What does Jackson Browne say now? See his performance of Drums of War at the March 18 2007 anti-Iraq war demonstration in Hollywood, California, and LISTEN to the lyrics.
Isn't it sad that this song still resonates so strongly...that the horror of war just keeps on happening because our "leaders" make their novenas to the Military-Industrial complex? Thanks for a great vid. We have to keep speaking out against this potentially endless war.

Thanks, Will, for taking the time to respond. This is an amazing song and the message is, unfortunately, timeless. Hope you keep watching, I've got more coming.

Trotsky130, Yeah I remember 9-11. So what is your point? Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11. Wake up and smell the coffee!

Lyrics from his song DRUMS OF WAR:
WHO ARE THE PROFITS FOR??
AND WHO BEARS THE COST??
WHO MAKES A FORTUNE FROM FIGHTING "TERROR"??
WHO IS THE ENEMY OF PEACE AND FREEDOM??
