A company called INTELLYTECH sells lights like these (cheaper and more expensive units) at really affordable prices on eBay. I bought an on-camera and studio light from them and I love them both. I totally recommend it. Unlike most eBay sellers, they ship from the USA so it only took 2 days to get my package rather than 2 months. To find their lights, copy and paste the item number 140526448309 in the eBay search area. LOVE THESE LIGHTS!!!
What's the name for that silverly-looking square part that's under the lights? I'm assuming that part is what allows the light to attach to the light stand. I want the option of mounting my light on a stand as opposed to my camera. Thanks in advance.
@acirak Hey acirak that's a speedlight swivel bracket umbrella holder thingy...Everybody calls it something diff. Here are a couple links below to these things. oops...I guess links are not allowed. Just google the following...
Strobist Flash Bracket Swivel Bracket Umbrella Holder Studio Tilting Bracket for Nikon Canon E430 E580 SB600 SB800 SB900 By Fancier Bracket B
Photoflex Multiclamp with Shoe Mount bhphotovideo and amazon have these.
The freq of the light at certain settings is interfering with the freq of the electronic shutter in the camera. Similar to shooting video of a TV screen. You can eliminate it by de-synchronizing the two freq's -which is what the dimmer does. I don't know how you would change the camera frame rate. Operate the light at higher non interfering freq and you have no problem.
I have the same trouble with a Z96 and I found the solution for these. On the Z96 when your turn the button to increase the light, very quickly you are on the maximum light power and after you turn the button for nothing. If you place your ear close to the light you hear a light noise which emerges from the case of the Z96. To resolve the banding just use it slightly below maximum light, not the maximum for the button. That's a solution for the Z96, I don't know if if it goes with a Torchlight.
@Youdesp Thanks for the info. I've searched all over the place for other people who are having this problem, and no one else seems to mention it. Your suggestion worked, so again, thanks.
If anyone else has had flickering or banding issues with LED lights on vDSLR's please let me know. Especially if you have experienced this with a Torchlight. The mfg claims that they have not heard of this problem from anyone else and I find that hard to believe. Thanks...
Hey Rogersphoto5, thanks for your comments...sorry for the delay, I was out of town for a week. Let me say this...I love this light! The build quality, internal long lasting battery and the pop on diffusers including an amber cap is top notch. Unfortunately, the banding issue when dimming makes this light useless for me. I The Lite Panels Pro light I was testing with had no such problems and I definitely recommend it.
That's a great comparison. I just purchased a Bescor LED panel and have the same noise/banding problems with my D300s. Upon testing, much like you have done, I concluded that the Dimmer switch is the problem. I did not get noticeable noise/banding with still images though. You found that the light panel had no problems at all? Ever?. I will have to get one.

Do you have website or other info of Torchlight? I have both googled and find it on eBay but have no luck.
Many thanks

@skracingone the light is not video compliant you have to use video compliant L.E.D lights to avoid banding
