У Ирины была какая-то несерьезная программа, нечемпионская по определению (то ли дело ее программа и ее прокат в Москве в 2005 году), да еще она и упала.
Почему же "бестолковая"? Она была призером ЧМ. Она посчитала, рискнула и прыгнула три каскада, в том числе дважды 3+3. Этого не сделал никто. Ирина ни разу не прыгнула 3+3, чуть не упала. Кроме того, главные ее проблемы на двух олимпиадах - плохо сделанные программы. Ее "Тоска" была и правда не на 5.9. Сравните, как под эту великую музыку катались Ягудин (победивший на ЧМ 2000 даже с падением) или Кван (глубоко прочувствовавшая эту тему). Кстати, Ирина стала теперь более артистичной после шоу.

It would be interesting to see how this competition would play out if marked under current IJS rules. Huges would have received deductions on the Flutz and both triple triples for under rotations. Michelle's deducaiton for the fall and Irina for the bad landing on the flip - who would have won, who knows?

Was never a fan of Irina's. Just didn't seem to have the elegance of some other skaters. And I really think her choice of outfit made her look old and squatty. The long sleeves and long skirt just seemed old and made her legs look short. Compared to the other skaters, she LOOKED like she was in mourning. I was thrilled to see Sarah do so well. But was pulling for Michelle to get the gold. Such a class act. But Sarah bested them all that night, IMO.
Sarah's 3 Lutz is a Flutz and cheated, she skated very slowly when compared with Irina and solo Jumps she has not any chance with Slutskaya. Sarah needed 100 years of practice to do solo jumps Like Irina. Irina's presentation for me was better but Sarah's wee good too.
I remember watching this in 2002 live. After Michelle failed I wished Irina to win, but her performance was disappointing either. I felt like neither Michelle, nor Irina deserved to win. Where was Irina's 3L+3Lo or 3S+3Lo? The comentators were ridiculous saying that only they knew the Lo was supposed to be a triple. Everybody knew it and was waiting for it!!
She was excellent a little forward on the triple flip however was excellent overall. She should had won gold since she entered the LP in second place oK!!!
