In the states I was "jailbait". A man in his twenties caught with an underage girl could mean jailtime. I am sure he was wanting a woman who might be interested in a little action. Still true in many states, esp if the relationship ends in pregnancy. Utah is one of the few states that is lax on this--(go figure). This was in Montana.

I used to hitch into SF to see Elvin Bishop Band in my wild and wasted youth. Wow! What energy and talent! I did love Jo Baker. I don't know the name of the song but the words were "I used to sit on my bed and worry, in the dark hours of the night..."

She was beautiful and had a thrilling voice.

It was seven years before this concert that I was asked to "meet" Elvin backstage in Missoula, MT--my girlfriend and I went--of course! I sat next to him and we talked a lot. Suddenly he looked at me and said, "How old are ya?" "Sixteen"--ABRUPTLY he got up and told his roadies to get us --the ladies-- outta here! LOL! Now that is a musician with some scruples or real fear of the law..... we left--starstruck and completely happy! That time he was not foolin--I remember Jo Baker, Classy!

Cool. A phase shifter. I thought it must've been either a flanger or phaser or combination of chorus and flanger. Never thought it'd be a phase shifter. I'll have to go try one now. @musicfox28 That's a flanger. It splits the signal into two and delays one. It was the first effect that was popular as a stomp box after wah & distortion had been around a while. Very different and exciting for the time. Chorusing was a refinement of the basic idea. Flanging got its name because the original  manual way to do it is send one signal to tape and press your thumb against the flange of the tape reel to slow it thereby delaying and it then combining it with the dry signal.

One of the most under rated musicians to come out of the 60's. Greatest guy in the world. Some of the guys in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame and Elvin isn't one of them . It's a crime. Seen him jam with the best and put them to shame, including Hendrix, Clapton, Steve Miller , Alvin Lee. Need I go on . Whats he got to do die.

Elvin Bishop is one cool act, saw him in te late 70"s at the uptown theater in Kansas City, He opened for reo-speedwagon and had Micky Thomas with him at the time (KILLER SHOW) Elvin! call Frank Hicks at Knuckleheads and book a show! come back to KC, brother

Elvin is such a rare gem in that he can play blues, country, R&B, rock, whatever moves him. More versatile than Eric Clapton and probably a better band leader too, I think.

Whatever happened to Jo Baker? She was one of the most amazing singers I ever saw. Rock My Soul is still one of my all-time favorite albums.

You're thinking of Jo Baker and she was more than a background vocalist. She actually sang lead for Elvin back in the 70's. I hung with them for a while and she was one of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet, plus an amazing vocalist. There is a Bishop video that features her on youtube.
