I caught this song on a TV special last night. I had never heard Peter Paul and Mary music before but I am seriously impressed. I had heard of them before of course but never thought anything about listening to their music. This song changes all of that.
I think it was this very year (1966) that I saw them at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh NC. They came down to edge of stage after concert and I was able to talk to them......what an incredible experience....Mary Travers was one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen in my life.....wow..
Wow -- Mary Travers is the freak'in "mom" mtRNA|DNA to Gisel Bündchen, among the recent decade's mega-top-dollar-paid fashions models ever...whereas, many contemporaneous critics et al narrow thinkers, discounted Mary's "strong looks" as, at best, a cruder version of the "Julie Christie school of peroxide-locks"; whereas, in retrospect--at least for newer generations--review of the ubber-graphical stagings, w/high-key lighting, proves my salient point. Not my type, but lookers all the same!
PPM, these guys are simply perfect, because....they're heaven-sent...d incomparable Mary Travers had gone ahead, bless u Mary Travers. Thankz for sharing the greatest gift to generations...
@giraffeman3705 They did, but it was quite rare to own a colour camera then. They'd hadn't been around too long at this point. The Beatles' 1965 movie 'Help!' was shot in colour which was pretty revolutionary at that time.
Superb image quality, which allows you to see all the small shifts in their facial expressions, admire Mary's exquisite beauty, and see the texture of her blonde hair, that she could toss like absolutely nobody else. Performancewise, it's good, too, but I prefer the mixing of Mary's voice a little louder that BBC did on the Tonight in Person performance of the same song.
A friend of mine told me of this URL so that I could watch PPM sing my favorite song, which I could have listened to only on an old LP. I tried to find a CD in vain. Thank God!! No, thank YOU, ppmcsk, for posting this beautiful video.
Hello ppmcsk! I was absolutely delighted to see this video posted. Thanks so much for sharing it! It truly captures a magical moment in the history of music - and offers a glimpse into the incredible talent these three will weave into our music, into our lives. Bravo!

Even in their early days PP&M put a lot of work into their arrangements. You can certainly see that demonstrated in this performance.
