@manchesterunited1232 This is something you should make part of your daily routine. It works well as a warmup to playing or working out. You will continue to see improved foot coordination, which will help with speed, balance, and stability. You can make the sequences more difficult as you progress to challenge yourself to get even better!
I'm very interested in your videos and I thank you for each one you made.
Excuse me to ask you two questions. How much should be the space between the dots? And, should I bend my knees and feel the pain in my hamstrings and other leg muscles? Or let my leg be straight without bending my knees?
How far should the outer circles be from each other? Is this a form of plyometrics? After learning the movement, should I be focusing on going for longer or going faster? Also, does this drill improve lateral movement?
what i do is box step ups and box quick jumps! the box step up the boxes will be like less than a feet but you do two step up and two step down as fast as you can. the box jump just jump side to side as fast as you can. 4 sets of 1 minute for each and record how many reps you can do in one minute!
@mambaized It is different than skipping rope. This drill focuses on development of neuromuscular pathways that focus on accuracy of foot placement as well as speed. Jumping rope is usually focused more on absolute foot speed (rapid jumps without focus on coordination).
@BWeiChen Sorry I missed you comment!! I would not recommend using ankle weights to run, if you would like more of a challenge move your suicides outside to a hill!!! This will provide more of a challenge than the level floor!!
@mchatman2 5 minutes is plenty for a starting point. You can build on this later. But you can do this as many times a day as you want. I have my students do dot drills as a warm-up for any workout or basketball session.
Dark: We have a video on the shotscience channel about the target being the Nest. You might want to check that video out, I think it will answer your question!
wats sup chase i posted before..ok im a good shooter but sometimes i keep forgetting to put my foot where it should be..another question i my dad told me to aim at the back bored and sometimes the net but how do u kno if ur aiming at the backbored or to the net.
@gskin04 Start by working on these dot drills, and building a base of strength and stability! Quick, coordinated feet will really help with that first step!
hey ShotScience i really like your videos. Because i always shoot to the right, and i was watching the video of The assist Hand and i do more than just a soft touch. i do what beginners do like you guys said in the video. Thanks. And i have a question. Shouldn't your feet and your dominate hand be pointing towards the Basketball net?
Thanks for the comment Taji! Make sure you watch all of our videos and you should be able to get your answer. If you still have trouble, get back to us and we'll figure it out!
hey chase what should I do to increase running speed without the dot drills? Thnx
Also, I tried out for the basketball team and I didnt make it. H etold me I was too small! Is that fair? He just put all of the sucky guys, but tall, on the team! O well. Im gonna try out next year, when there is a new coach.
You know, sometimes getting on a particular team is all politics. You can only do your best and if you don't make the team, you just keep on working at getting better and finding places to play. Don't let one coach tear you down. With hard work, we know you can exceed anyone's expectations.
As for running speed, we'll have some videos on developing that here soon!

u see horizantly, the dots are supposed to be shoulder wide, how about vertically?
mambaized 1 year ago
are the 4 outer dots shaped like a square? do they have the same space between each side?
mambaized 1 year ago
@mambaized: I am not sure what you are asking. The dots are just locations on the floor, their shape does not matter.

Do you land on your foot or your toes?
pointblankism 1 year ago
@pointblankism You want to land on the ball of your foot! Thats the pads just before the toes!

also do u do this in reps?
mambaized 1 year ago
@mambaized: You want your feet to be no wider than hip width. The goal is to start slow then become as quick as possible with short movements!

@F15Hballer9 One great drill to work on is the single leg squat to touch, but you have to make sure you can perform a two-foot squat properly first!!

should dot drills be performed on your toes or whole foot? also vertical jump tips?
skirmisher99 2 years ago
Dot drills and most footwork drills in general should be performed on the ball of the foot. This is the pad just before the toes.

how about some vertical jump tips???
