  • well done

  • Thanks man!!

  • Your tutorials are pure gold! Absolutely no attitude, extremely professional touch all the way and very clear instructions. This is how everything should be done. Thanks Angelo!

  • wiw this guys good i wonder if he still djs

  • dang this was weird i searched this and found a guy named "dj angelo"

  • Great tutorial series!

  • QAQ AWESOME!

  • thankyou this was very helpfull! :-)

  • so hawt

  • dislike bar = length of hatter's dick ;)

  • haha your baby scratch at the end is insane

  • niceee

  • Wow this was dope! I'm thinkin about buying a turtable for fl studio

  • nice tutorial

  • Nice vid, clearly explained and very informative, very good base for anyone attempting to learn to scratch, props!

  • What Is The Viynl Record You Are Playing At The End Called???

  • @foofy14 hypnotize by notorious big

  • oh shit this is bangn thanks bro that was hot as hell XDXD!!

  • question: if you get a dj turntable that you stick discs into it and dont use vinyls could you still mark the sound that you want?

  • scratching training Im aprendice like you music

  • whenever i scratch, the needle skates so fackin much. Why is this happening

  • @zlabreche10 try adjusting your counterweight. you probably have too much counterweight on, so the needle doesn't use enough pressure to stay within a groove.

  • im only 15 im trying to be a dj my insperation is deadmau5 and well i need to know how much turntables and records cost im taking baby steps lol im using virtual dj right now im getting pretty good with it as in i kno the basics but i just need to know how do i make beats?

  • @Darksupersonic8 It can cost you about 250-300 and + to get everything

  • @Darksupersonic8 if you're trying to make music like Deadmau5, buy a Novation Launchpad controller and a Korg Microkontrol, and music producing software, such as Ableton Live. Then watch tutorials on how to make music like Deadmau5, instead of tutorials on how to use vinyl turntables.

  • @Darksupersonic8 my first set of decks was the numark phat pack fusion, and comprised of 2xNumark TT1650 direct drive turntables and a matrix2 mixer and cost around £400 at the time(this is for vinyl turntables, CDJs are more expensive for anything decent), I would recommend numarks as a good strater as they are quite robust. Also, if you are pretty well versed in virtual DJ, I would suggest (IMO) moving on to Traktor, and possibly getting yourself some time sigs.

  • Post more videos!

    Please!

  • biggie biggie can't u see somtimes your words just hypnotise me!

  • Thanks alot

  • won't this mess up your records?

  • @ingamrvr Yes it will mess up the records and wear your needles down faster, but it's a slow process. If you're using a DVS like scratch live or traktor instead of 12 inch records, you can replace your control vinyls for pretty cheap without actually ruining the song itself.

  • OHHHHH!!!

  • Hey guys, I want to start turntablism but i dont have much money to spend. I found STANTON - T-62 at a shop it's one of the cheapest direct drive turntables I found. Can you tell me if that's good, or maybe suggest anything better at about the same price?

  • @DeGaN96 it's just got so little torque, you can put your finger on just the slipmat and it'll stop in about 3 seconds. If you're going to try to scratch, steer clear of it.

  • Any idea where can I buy a turntable?

  • 5 people have no fingers

  • thanks bro...im just starting out and this video has helped me heaps...

  • good stuff bro ima practise some more

  • Do i need a sound card to use a turntable nd mixer with computer.?

  • Hey Angelo great tutorials man! You made my day

  • Great baby scratch tutorial Angelo!

  • dj angelo im stating out on virtual dj and im getting ready to get a dj controller do you haVE ANY ADVICE?

  • anybody that didnt like this video is a straight up HATER

  • Off the first video I saw, I was hooked on your videos. Enough said

  • Hi Man

I just subscribed to your Channel, Bcos you are Awesome body, I wish to scratch one day the way you do man, So I'm following your tutorials step by steps...Thanks a lot man...... Excuse my English....

  • @iExtreamZz - Hell yeah, that's the G spot simulation fingers! The bowling ball technique! :D

  • to thanks dj angelo, you are in my favorites, i was looking for some good tutorials and you're giving even better tips than i was hopong for, big up

  • dude your amazing, can i clone you and you can teach me at school for all my lessons instead of the monkeys we call teachers ? XD

  • 9:00 Biggy smalls Hypnotize ^^ love it :D

  • What brand turntables does he use :??

  • @XxHeRBMaNxX Hi the turntables in this video are the Technics SL1200 MK2. They've been the "industry standard " for over 30 years. They're solid & reliable. However in his later tutorials he uses newer turntables by a brand called Reloop. Apparantly those ones are much better, I've never used those myself though. Peace.

  • G spot stimulation fingers xD

  • An excellent video on scratching.

  • love the instrumental at 8:43

  • you and ellaskins are awesome!

  • so what if the noise you look for is further onwards on the record? sticker can tell you what direction its on, but not how far in it is on the record, right?

  • nicley done..

  • AAH I LOVE THE SOUND OF BIGGIE'S HYPNOTIZE

  • Many thanks for the uploads, i will be cracking on with steps 2,3,4 and 5. One question tho- I am finding it easier to use the kill switch over the faders. Is this a bad habit to get into. ie will more complex techniques later on require me to learn to use faders for the cutting etc... Cheers again

  • @ :56 is that Club Vinyl in Denver?? jw

  • whats some good records to start with ?

  • @wolfy4496 I, myself, love jazz compilations! They're also great for sampeling!

Thumbs up so @ top of page

  • @wolfy4496 Superseal and some instrumentals. Look up thudrumble [dot] com

  • Excellent! This is the best DJ tutorial video I have seen in a long time

  • That helps a lot! thnk

  • i got a question....

I noticed that some djs when they scratch lower the pitch depth. Is there a specifc pitch depth to make the scratch high quality??

  • 07.30....i like to use them fingers too XD

  • Anyone have any advice on beginner dj gear?

  • heay good tutorial man thanks for sharing!

  • would everything you just said (excluding the vinyl part) apply to a digital turntable?

  • @DJfinx396 digital you mean Cd ? (if so there is a problem that cd jog does not move by it self. But makeing the baby scratch is the same). If you are talking about serato/ spin! etc. then everything should be the same.

  • holly crap !! I thought I could baby scratch !! I have to step my game up.

  • clear concise and smart. I like this guy. Like this if you agree. Thank you!

  • um i dont kno much about DJ'in but i plan to get into it sometime, they still sell those kinda records? i def didnt kno that if they do

  • @thaijunkie19 yes. There are some special vinyls only with accapella and sounds for scratch :)

  • i was gonna do some scratch tutorials but Angelo`s got it all covered...easily the best tutorials on Youtube(and that`s not being biased because he`s a mate)but from a fellow DJ tutor..Angello is the man.Keep practicing folks that`s all you need to do..turn off the TV and stop watching rubbish and just get your turntables on and get scratching it`s as simple as that.If you want to be good then you have to practice a lot..it`s the only way to get really good.Big up to Angelo and all dj`s:)

  • Thank you sir! This helped alot!

  • thanks man, i just got my first turntble, got any good sites to buy records off that you would recomend?

  • does it matter what kind of needles do you use?

  • DJAngelo: Now with Technics going under (sigh!) do you recommend any other Turntables which would perform in the scratch arena just as well?

  • @djgman00 Stanton STR8 150`s...are amazing...and are also known as "the new industry standard"..much better "torque" than a Technics...and a straight tone arm(better for scratching)..take it from me i have Technics 1210`s and Stanton STR8 150`s...and CDJ 2000`s..as i`m a DJ tutor myself...and the Stanton decks are brilliant. You can get them for quite a good price these days if you shop around and spares are easy to get hold of too.Hope this helps you out;)

    Search "Johnny Scratch" on Youtube;)

  • damn @ 9:05 i almost shit myself that was fucking crazy.

  • i freakin love you haha, u actually teach instead of tell us what to do, i know they sound similar, but teaching and telling r 2 different things

  • that was absolutely fuckin sick man!

  • when i do the drops my turntables delay for a second why is that?

  • @DjPROtoTYPE1 Probably just means your turntable doesn't have much torque. Try giving the record a little push forward when you drop it. Peace out...DJTrueSoul.

  • OH!

  • Thanks for the tutorial. Very helpful!

  • how to really know which line my needle should be on if i accidently move it?..with a sticker on, i know that my sample is on 2 oclock...but what if it skips inwards?

  • I've been search for tutorials as i wanna scratch ...where i am there are no schools so whatever u learn u have to learn by hearing but thats tough...seeing what u do i already gettn the hang of this...i haven't bought turn tables yet as i am wonder digital versus vinyl as i use vdj software...i still wanna use time codes though..whadda u think is best...wanna start with a pair og numarks battle scratch setup as it for beginners instead of goin pro one time ...i need input

  • Awesome tutorial man. Just as one of the comments already said you take it slow and really show the technique. Thanks alot!

Also is that an Audio-Technica at-lp120? I just got one of those today and looks just like it.

  • fucken sick

    !

  • i like to listen to kid carpi

  • Hey bra thank u for the tip, much respect. Gotta start from the basics.

  • I've been DJ'ing for 15 years digitally, and have been very successful, made tons of money! However, I've never felt accomplished because my scratch technique sucks. My mix is tight, sampling, etc... Thank you VERY much for your posts. Your videos are AWESOME!!! I've come a long way putting in extra hours in the garage due to your videos. DJ'ing is fun for me again! Thanks brother!

  • I am 16 and recently quit My guitar because it is over used. Over-used as in almost everyone knows how to play it. While puting my guitar away in my attic I found a DXM 06 24 Digital Mixer that was a bit dusty. My father always wanted to be an ametire DJ and never became one so he put it up there. I grabbed it and desprate to find another activity I decide to start learning how to use it. Right now I only have Mixer and an AMP, whats the next step? A turntable?

  • @longsolid9 Hey man, im 14 and ive had a mixer and dj software since i was about 12 and ive been saving the last 2 years to get some turntables. I bought a pair of technics 1210 mk2's and i think you should do the same, there awsome decks and ive had them about 3 months and i can pull off a nice mix, so get saving and get a pair of 1210's!

  • hey dj angelo! uhm i'm not a dj but i really dreamed of being a dj since i was a kid.. uhmm i'm planning to buy a turntable set so can i ask you if what's the estimated price on buying a basic turntable set not those too high end ones, just the basic ones or rather the oldskul types.. looking forward for your reply thank you :)

  • @elnortebagie Dude, if you haven't got turntables yet I advise u 2 save & get a set of DIRECT DRIVES, they don't have to be the most expensive but just make sure you DON'T get belt drives. They're a nightmare for mixing/scratching. Stanton do good entry level decks. I think the T60 & T62 are good & not 2 expensive. I think they might be USB tables also, so you can record your mixes to computer or transfer all your vinyl to mp3 very easily. I hope this helps, peace out...DJTrueSoul.

  • @elnortebagie If you're in the UK check HTFR.com, for £349 you can get two Stanton T62 Direct Drives & a 2 channel mixer, they deliver worldwide & they give you 20 free records 2 get started with, if you get a cd package they give you 20 free cd's. Hope this helps, peace out...DJTrueSoul.

  • i have loads of records but my favorite is mylo drop the pressure is that any good ?

  • what about blue tac ?

  • Dj Angelo I am a beginner looking to purchase my first set of turntables. What type of setup do you recomend? And how much time aday should I practice?

  • Where can i buy newer vinyls?? Should i just buy them off the internet

  • @TheJuggaloReaper try discogs or thudrumble. discos youll be able to easily find a nice hip hop beat and thudrumble has the super seal records with tons of samples:)

  • Wow, very easy to understand video on scratching thanks alot Dj Angelo

  • Thanks man!

  • Hey man I just want to say thank you for these tutorials. These are the only tutorials I've come across that have actually helped me get started.

  • what song are you playing on the left turntable while preforming the baby scratch?

  • @KulinaryKutZ Herbs alpert is the original artist. but that was a version done by The Notorius B.I.G. called Hypnotize

  • very helpful and easy to understand! thx for sharing!

  • Very fundamental, and I want to say thanks for posting up this great video. I have been DJing for almost a year, and I still have lots to learn. Looking forward to view the rest of your tutorials.

  • how much are turntables and a mixer

  • I have one question and that is where can i get affordable needles for the turn tables? i have a standard techics head shell if thats any help

  • great

  • quality video~!!!

  • great vids!!! nice and slow which is good for beginner scratchers like me to gain confidence. Many thanks and keep up the good work!! :)

  • 104% greatest tutorial vid for DJing. im just starting out so this makes it a LOT easier. because you aint trying to show off, just trying to show us how to scratch. thanks mate.

  • BEST. I never seen anything good on youtube like this. Im gonna watch secound. But you never showed the regular scratches with the cross fade.

  • One of the best tutorials i have seen!!! you are full of knowledge !!! Thanks again, Peace

  • some ppljust learn fast its like it meant for them.

  • wat song was tht beat from tht he used at the end?

  • @dudetotalypsn Notorious BIG - Hypnotize

  • DJ Angelo,

When using Scratch Live control vinyl, is there any way to use visual markers to my advantage, or would I simply need to memorize the sound's "clock position?"

  • This is some great work DJAngelo. Everything was very clear, easy to understand (well spoken), and the camera work was great. Oh, and the background beat and slides were a nice touch. Although I am way past this in skillz, it was still enjoyable to watch. I look forward to the more advanced videos. Thanks

  • haha nice biggie

  • im getting desks next week and you've inspired me soon much is unbelievable! thank you

  • lol 7:57 its like oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhh YEAH!

  • whats a shure m447 for what does it do? whatss it for

  • is there a way to cut out the voacals in a record? because i have the track by biggie smalls he has but how did he just have the beat and no vocals?

  • u need to get hold of sum instrumentals, look out for them on records or if you have some on ur pc then hook it up to the mixer instead of another turntable (or as a third channel if u got it)

  • try increasing the weight of your needle. i keep mine at 1.5 grams or something like that. but you might want to put your needle to the heaviest setting if your doing something crazy. but i warn you that it WILL wear your record out much quicker.

  • I juts bought some gemini turntables but I have problems with scratching.....the record keeps skipping whenever I try a faster scratch. Is this because of wrong tone arm setup? Or should I get a new needle?

  • is this guy a lefty or righty

  • Really good Tutorials here, thanks.

  • dj angelo you are the best in tutorial scraching I learning whith you step by step THANK YOU VERY MUCH my son is too he is 12 years old.

  • this bloke clearly said in the first video that absolute beginners should start somewhere else, which is good advice, so why are people asking him things like ''whats that thing in the middle called'' ????? go ask ellaskins

  • by far the best tutorials on youtube, good stuff mate, cheers.

  • Awesome tutorial! You are a better teacher than any of my teachers in high school.... lol! what kind of turntables are those???

  • "Technics"

  • great tutorial!!!!

  • Mine keep skipping.. i'll have to try another tone arm setup

  • which turntable do you use??

  • LOL i have that record that u played not the one u scratched but the other 1

  • Dude your amazing, thanks

  • u rock man!!

  • definatley the most helpful dj tutor on youtube thanyou so much DJ angelo.

  • ...yeah you bad boy real bad...so precise and able to communicate that well thanks lil buddy

  • @jnaumann93 dont forget ellaskins

  • without a doubt the most informative and simple tutorial on the net. keep up the great work!

  • oh and this is helping me a ton . i want to learn to start scratching and im getting tables soon ! im so excited !

  • when i see marks on vinyl i see some dj's have stickers right next to where the sample is . can this eventually ruin a vinyl cuz the sticker is on the lp itself ?

  • Potentially but if you're careful, you can peel stickers off without leaving too much residue on the vinyl. Any problem stickers can be removed with label remover fluids...

  • @badassmofo222 Use a solution of 3 litres distilled water, one litre of 99% isopropyl (rubbing alcohol) and a few drops of jet dry. Use this on any vinyl album, but not 78rmps.

  • Hey me again is an Acappella and an Acappella mix the same thing

  • should be the same? is the vocal the only thing you're hearing? that should be the case

  • what gear should i need like a starter?

    Please answer! Tnx

  • what is the thing in the middle, and where would you get one in the uk?

  • if you mean the thing in the middle of the two turntables...that's called a mixer and there are many site's that sell them i wouldn't know which one to recommend as i have not checked all their prices.

  • if ur jst starting out geez, try startin in MAPLINS for a basic mixer

  • 2.33

  • most helpful vids in all of youtube.

  • and his production values r sik

  • by far the best tutorials! Taking it slow and not trying to showoff your skills. Just pure teaching. Thank You.

  • yeah, I feel the same. When making tutorials and being a pro turntablist you should leave your skills for the "show-off", contest videoes, call it what ever you like and make the tutorials as clear and understandable as possible. This man, he did it, he did i pretty damn well. Props for tuttoring like this and being a great turntablist.

  • @bhollywood1974 Very True....Thanks Angelo

  • Could anyone tell me some tracks on wich is a vocal with them I can scrath good? Would be nice.Sorry for my bad English

  • dj rectangle

  • nelly,,,..nelly

  • It's great to see somebody taking his time to make these really basic tutorials. We're all at different levels, and this would have been great for me a year or two ago. Now I'm more of a beatmixer than a scratcher, but who knows? I may get keen on trying this out.

  • dude you rock! keep it up!

  • AND - great tutorials!!

  • for making too lose holes smaller you can also use super glue.. put a thin film of it regular on the hole inside.. let it dry.. and finally use a cutter to widen the hole as wide as it has to be - works perfect for me
