in all truth Wicker Park is a BEAUTIFUL place to live for anyone. i have an aunt--who isn't a hipster--that lives there and I constantly go to her apartment. It's a really great place to be just because it's close to the loop, but it's also safe enough for my parents to let me go there.

favorite part of wicker park - NORTHCOAST VIDEO. some of the staff has moved on, but you have to love that they'll listen to whatever they want, regardless of who is in the store. i dunno if they still have any VHS tapes in the store, but you used to be able to get 4 tapes for 4 days for $4, and they had TONS of exploitation/trash cinema. zombies galore!

I lived wickerpark-east villiage area from 93-95, and in wrigleyville 95-98, and humbolt -ukranian villiage 98-00. I miss Chicondo a little bit, had good times in all hoods. I miss the old earwax (was across the street), Jean's Place on Paulina, Leo's cafe on Division and Andy's Bakery, The music box, the different theater companies like Red Orchid, merrie-archie, etc.

Well done. Some of my old haunts. Can remember when there was ALOT of boarded windows and empty buildings in WIcker Park. Yes, crawling with whores too! Was blown away to see things like young families on bikes my last visit. I think Wicker Park peaked many years back now but its still one of the greatest places anywhere, yuppies aside.

All of the originality of the neighborhood has been sucked out to make way for the yuppies and trust fund kids.

I spent 15 years living in Wicker and all of the edge is gone.

Let's hope Logan Square or Rogers Park can step up and fill the void.

Don't get me started on how much I miss The Busy Bee. The Blue Line and Penny's are horrid. Gimme Sophie's pierogi and upside down cheesburgers anyday.
