  • Id rather have Fords push button locker to Chevys is this damn thing kicking in auto locker. Still an impressive climb for a 4x4 truck and hugely good for a 4x2

  • Dylanhelmer what kind of vehicle do u have and yes a g80 will get the job done it doesn't wear tires and I've not once in all my life heard of a blown up g80 I recommend you to a g80

  • i'd say the g80 worked pretty well there considering you made it up in 2wd...

  • guys i need some opinions. i offroad a lot and get into shitty situatuions alot to wear a locker would come in handy. like ill flex out the suspension trying to climb over something and one wheel spins and one doesnt. i want it to lock for that part but dont know if the g80 is worth it at all. ive heards good and lots of bads. like it blows up or wears tires. im not sure if i should stick with open diff or locker please give me some advice

  • awesome for a 2 wheeler

  • Why would you Not buy a 4x4?

  • my silverado has g80 but i havent put it to the test yet

  • G80s are great until they Grenade80 on you, I would rather have a open diff than a G80 that is a ticking time bomb.

  • @SnowBladerX I hear ya on that! Mine scattered and threw the diff pin clean through the diff cover. Cost me around $900 in parts from summit. I replaced it with a true-trac limited slip, because they told me that you can go from an open diff to a locker, but you can't go to an open diff from a locker, I'm not exactly sure of the reason, so I just threw the true-trac in there.

  • @farfrompukin1974 you cant go locker to open because you cant get rid of a weld, which they would do, and by that i mean they could be reffering to the dumbass and idiotic concept of welding the spider gears of an open differential in place so that individual wheel spin is eliminated.

  • @SnowBladerX I admit the G80 might not be bullet proof in some regards. But if you use it as a LOW SPEED traction device it's a great unit. I just did a video explaining one and showing it in use. If you prefer an open diff over a G80, you either like getting stuck a lot orrr you have a crazy rig with dual transfer cases a big lift and really niice tires.

  • @AnthonyJ350 no I prefer a selectable locker front and rear, after owning a 04 Jimmy Zr2 with a G80 and going to a Jeep Rubicon with a selectable locker I will never go back. After 2 years of use the G80 in my Jimmy hardly worked I noticed over time it would take more and more wheel spin before it would even try to lock by then it was a very harsh engagement and too late. All proper maintenance was done to the diff by and it was never abused, only used for its intended purpose.

  • Man Chevy knew what they were doing offering this diff in their trucks and SUV's! Love it!

  • id say traction was pretty good.... its a smaller truck with only 2wd cant get much better then that without lift, more aggressive tires and what not.

  • 31x10.50 15 bfg all terrain. yea its a 2wd rig, with a g80 in the diff

  • @zeeandg since when can you get a Z71 w/o the main part of the package - four wheel drive?

  • @mustang633NY About 1999 or 2000 IIRC

  • @mustang633NY yea, its fucking communist.

  • nice rig, what tires you have?

  • @jrmdodge1 They look like BFG all terrains

  • Good job man, you made it anyway!

  • Was that whole climb in 2wd? Not bad...
