@loopykay13 Ah! You need a "graphics tablet" for that, its a pressure sensitive digital drawing device so you can control if the lines are thick or thin at certain points. Simply using a mouse, it does not have this function and will make your lines all the same thickness.

@loopykay13 Hmmm check under the pencil or brush settings whether your "Min Size" is below 30% , if it's close to the 90% that might be the reason why it's squarish... other than that the particular brush setting might not be on "simple circle" but another brush shape? S:

@Kimbolie12 wait what do you mean by 'multiple lines'? like it doesn't do one line in one stroke but many lines in one stroke? beneath 'density' there's a drop down list, make sure its on the default one (the first option) and that should get rid of the 'multiple lines'... unless i'm completely wrong LOL then please, give me more info so i can try to help you out

How do you make straight lines in Paint tool SAI? someone pleas tell me! b/c i hate having all my linearts look sloppy!

i dont have any linetool or anything like that. I only have Brush, waterbrush, the select and deselect brush, blur, Pen, eraser, airbrush, marker and binary. :(

@ghostie7790 believe it or not, the layer influences which tools you have. to get the straight line, you have to make a new VECTOR layer, the option should be underneath 'layer' in the menu :) or in the layer box theres a button with a paper and an ink pen on it, press that to get a VECTOR layer. once you press it, look over at the tool box, and you will have a straight line tool!

This is REEEEEEEEAAAAALLLY good! Man... I really gotta get a tablet that has pen pressure (and yes, my tablet does NOT come with it at all... you can't even install pen pressure... sux =_=). I have SAI...so.. does having pen pressure affect how you color/shade things smoothly??? Coloring I'm fine with... it's the shading I don't know how to do. O_o

@MegaMittenz Without pen pressure, you've got nothing! honestly haha it lets you control the amount of colour (dark or light lines) while also changing the thickness (thin or thick lines). I wouldn't recommend any other tablet than a Wacom

i always color on one layer, i have no idea why you would NEED to color with more (with the background being it's own layer too). I think i'd get more confused with a lot of different things on different layers, so i'm with ya!

Right! Well:

1) I think one thing you can note from the video is that I do every line in one swift stroke. Some strokes are more awkward to do than others, so i tilt the canvas to suit me.

Some lines are different, some may take me about 5 strokes redos to get right (the vid is sped up so you can't reall tell :P) and others are easier to fudge.

I don't really use the lineart method anymore because it's quite time consuming.

I pretty much just go from my sketch. now, my sketches are pretty messy lol

so what i do is "clean up" on it. messy lines are then erased into one clean line. and honestly, erasing is much more easier than having to redo each line as shown in this video (sorry i haven't made a new vid since this, this is like from oct2008, gah)

I used the pen tool, zoom in and try to do the lines with one swift stroke :) there are some lines that are kinda odd to do at their angle, so rotate!
